I will first day that Dr. Scheu is a very nice man. And I'm sorry to have to write such a negative review, but I really do think it's important to warn any prospective patients. First of all let me just say that after the pre-op and everything else, I ended up canceling my procedure before I ever gave them any money. Thank god. So this review was just my experiences in the office with the staff and the doctor. I thought it was weird how dirty and unkempt the office was. The consultation room was disgusting; brown and yellow stains on the carpet, worn strips hanging off the leather chairs, scuffed up walls with peeling paint. I got a glimpse into an office- the door of which was quickly closed to my viewing- that looked like it belonged to a hoarder. The desk was hardly visible behind piles of papers and boxes and debris of all sorts. Honestly it's crazy how poorly they even attempt to disguise the nastiness. It was just gross. There are maybe two or three pictures in their entire archive of before and after pictures. I thought that was also rather strange. I'm guessing, based off the reviews I have read here and on google, this is because there are few satisfied patients? They can schedule you immediately for everything- it feels too good to be true. Because it is. God forbid you ever have a conflict with any scheduling they want to offer you, because quite suddenly the office staff, particularly Cheryl, is vicious. Man do they want your money, and any delay means you will be treated like a detriment to their business- and a plague. I called four of the most well-reviewed, star-studded plastic surgeons in the area to find that this place has the highest prices by far, and for what? A dirty office? An abusive staff? Please, please go elsewhere. I feel so terrible for the people here and on google reviews who have experienced such horrors from this place. Don't trust Dr Scheu to touch your face. I'm so unhappy I feel like a monster who is ruined my life $15,000 for two different sides of a face now he doesn't know how to do a blepharoplasty and disrespected me doing fractional laser. I specifically told him I did not want that he said it's all I needed. He did it anyway my eye swelled shut and I had to call family for help it took three months for my eyes to heal I feel like a monster he's destroyed my face my confidence in my life. I went there seeking some cosmetic adjustments to make me more confident. I used Dr Scheu in February 2019 for a belt lipectomy, and lipo in my chest. I had a gastric sleeve in 2016 and had lots of loose skin after losing over 150lbs. My wife had used Dr. Scheu for several procedures over the previous 1-2 years and we had discussed me having the procedure several times during my wife's visits, but being a typical male, I declined each time because I wasn't Convinced I needed it. I didn't think it was a thing that would make me look or feel better. However, after watching him and his staff interact with my wife, watching how his work helped my wife regain more confidence after each treatment or procedure, and after really listening to his advice and opening myself to the possibility that not only would I look and feel better, it would be healthier for me to remove all the extra skin so I would have less risk of infection. I decided to do the formal consultation. Normally, I would have felt embarrassed and awkward during this procedure, but Dr Scheu and his staff spoke to me and handled me in a way to really made me comfortable. They talked to me at a level that I completely understood and set me to ease while standing there in all my glory. I agreed to have the procedure. He gave me my instructions to follow for the days prior, and everything happened as was described. I was was given the option to have the surgery in a hospital if I wanted to pay for an operating room and anesthesia, or I could have it in one of his sterile procedure rooms, and be medicated, but awake, and numbed so that I wouldn't feel any pain. I opted for the latter. I showed up and followed his instruction on how to begin my meds prior to my arrival. I was prepped and taken to the surgical suite. They turned on some music and talked to me the entire time! We laughed and joked. They really made me a comfortable as possible. Now......... I made things a little harder than they anticipated. I was a LARGE man. 6'7" and was well over 400 lbs at my biggest. Factors that ended up making his job much longer than we planned. But he didn't let that stop him. He adjusted, he reassured me that everything was going ok and keep on going. Any time he remotely thought I was in discomfort, he would stop and ask me how I was. To which I insisted that we keep on going. Dr Scheu took over 10 hours to complete what should have been a 5-6 hour procedure and was comforting the entire time. When we finally finished we closed everything up. Suture lines looked great, and I was finally at ease. I live out of town and since the entire process took so long, I stayed the night in a hotel because he insisted that we come in the next day for follow up. Mind you, this all happened on a Friday, so he made us come in on his day off to follow up since it was more convenient for me. I have since returned ever 4-6 weeks for post op follow up. All of my results are fantastic and I couldn't be happier. My wife is even planning her next procedure as week speak ! Dr Scheu and his staff are the friendliest I have ever met. They call, follow up, and actually care about you before, during and after. Dr Scheu is a rare physician in the fact that the isn't all about the money. He wants people to be the best version of them that they can. He takes the time to listen, and answer questions. He genuinely seems to get joy from his patients happiness. My initial contact was amazing. Terry the coordinator was extremely kind and understanding. She understood what I wanted, and found a way to make it happen. I then spoke to Dr. Scheu and he was pleasant as well. I showed him my concerns and we discussed the best thing with me. He advised maybe I needed a tummy tuck because I would have some loose skin. I told him im ok with the skin because I was gonna try this new J. Plasma. I also told him I really didnt want the scar but if I decide I needed it I will get it. We talked about pricing and I explained I was ready. Because he gave m a price he asked if I knew what I could be approved for. I told him yes. He basically was trying to get a price so that he can gage how much he would throw out. Initially he told me 14k for breast aug, lipo and tummy tuck. He said I could get all of that done in office. Im sorry he said mini tummy tuck. I told him didnt want the tuck and I only wanted the lipo on the arms, and tummy and bra roll. He told me he can do that for 10k and under local anesthetics. I wasn't familiar with the terms I thought I would be out but not all the way out. I told him I wanted aggressive lipo , we laughed and agreed. He told me he could get me in a WEEK later. I have a trip coming up for Aruba and I wanted to be ready in time. On that day Feb 12, 2018 Terry or Cheryl ran my card for $1,000. I told them I would think about the the pricing and I will get back with them. The next day Terry called and gave me a price. It was still too far off from me and I told her I was talking to other surgeons. She asked me what was the price they were quoting me and I told her. She then went to the doctor I guess and discussed. My husband is military so they offered us that discount to a final price of 8k. I agreed and was scheduled for the procedure. This was Feb 15 and they had me scheduled for surgery Feb 21,2018. They asked if I could come in Friday the 16th for Pre Op and they gave me prescriptions and took the other payment. Great. Wednesday morning I arrive and he asked me when I go to the doctor do I numb easily. I was quite sure why he was asking me that but I said Idk I guess. He and Mellissa took me back and prepped me for the surgery. Now its numbing time it burned. I screamed for some time and he told me to calm down it donna get better. Well it didnt and I continued to scream. I did not know that I would be awake during a surgery like this. He take some laser and pushes it through my skin. Nope im crying asking him to stop please I cant take it. He told me ill be fine and kept going. I pleaded again for him to stop and he DIDNT! My husband was in he waiting room. Cheryl kept telling him he could leave and he told her thats ok he wanted to stay. I guess she didnt want him there for whatever reason so she sent him to another office. Anyways I ask him please can I take a break. He said no honey this will be fast and continued to lipo my arm. The lady Mellissa was so sweet and tried her best to calm me down and she couldn't. He stopped and let me take a break but then he left out of the operating room. He comes back and tries again and same thing I can feel every stroke he was doing in that arm. I screamed and pleaded again and nothing he kept going. So eventually he stopped I guess I was getting way too loud. I was a little loopy so they wheeled me to my husband. He was shocked he thought I would be out of it from the surgery and I wasn't. He asked me what the hell was wrong and I told him and we left it as that. No remember I was getting lipo of the tummy and both arms for 8k. That didnt happen. (see pics below) Days later they called me and I ignored the calls. I had a post op appointment today so I needed to calm down a bit and regroup so that I can have a adult conversation with him. I get there today every one is still so friendly! Well not for long. Dr. Scheu took my husband and I back and we expressed our concerns. He didnt care. He said he thought I knew that local anesthetic was just numbing. I explained to him no I was under the impression that I would be put to sleep and woken periodically. He said no that wasn't it. It was a mistake on my end for not knowing. But whats funny is when I talk to him I explained what happened and he said he would be doing the exact same thing. I had no reason to ask again when I got there. I explained to him I was extremely unhappy. I mean he couldn't do the service because it hurt way too bad. Basically he said well I can redo it but you'll have to go to the hospital but that would be another 2k. I was appalled at him even saying it. I do not want him to do any other work on me. He then told me I can come in next week he said he wouldn't advise me getting surgery that fast but he would do it if I wanted.
