A solid 5 stars for James Rose Electric! James and his team did an amazing job on our house to start the new 2019 year off. It first began with moving in to a "new to us" house... there were a few quirks (wiring) that we wanted a professional electrician to weigh in on as well as some installation of lights in our home. We did some research and made a few calls to local electricians in the area. Out of that first initial screening, we down-selected a few of them for an in-person quote. One was a no-show, one seemed insincere, but James came through right in the middle with a balanced and honest suggestions. During the quote James was not only open to suggestions but provided solutions to us that we didn't feel were out of bounds, too extravagant, but actually curated for what we wanted to achieve. Once we finished, he took about 2-3 days to finalize our quote and send it over. The overall price was reasonable given the amount of work and we felt that James was going to work for it as opposed to feel entitled once we agreed to begin. Once work began, James introduced us to his small but very capable team. James crew were meticulous and James made sure to draw detailed schematics on measurements, instructions, and laid out clear priorities for the team. There were a necessary amount of holes that were drilled through the process - which may alarm some but the explanation was always done prior to execution. We expected most of the work to take about a week but James was able to wrap up most of the big items in less than that (approx 4 days). When all was said and done, we had James help us with wiring and light switch arrangements in 4 bedrooms, installed 2x4' and 2x2' LED flush-mount panel lighting in the garage, 2x occupancy sensors, 6 dimmers, installation of 21 cans for recessed lighting (and LED fixtures) - note that 6 of them were in vaulted ceilings approx. 20' high. In addition to the lighting and wiring work, James also helped us install surge protected receptacles and conduit to protect wires in a TV mount above our fireplace. Note - James does has an excellent drywall repair guy that helped us magically remove all traces of the holes he drilled. The overall experience and quality of work was superb, and we are the type of folks who don't let details slip by - neither is James. He is meticulous about his work and will do everything he can to make sure you're happy with the work. His communication throughout the experience was good, and any issues he quickly communicated. If there was any constructive criticism to provide, I'd ask James to be more punctual to accommodate for working schedules. But honestly, the attention to detail for work make up for the time issues for me (it takes time to do things right!). We have been very satisfied with our experience with James and would recommend him to any of our friends and family who need a skilled electrician to help them out! read more

I called up the number from this Yelp ad and got James himself on the first try. I explained my electrical woes that befell me earlier in the day and James was very responsive and sent one of his employees Diego to my house. He got there about an hour later, which was super fast! I gave Diego a little challenge with my predicament (sudden loss of power to my electrical plugin outlets in all my bedrooms) and after some diagnosing we finally found the root cause which was a faulty receptacle that shorted out the entire loop. Full Review: I recently installed a new microwave oven above my range to replace a decades old double oven that came with the house. We needed to add an outlet in the cupboard to plug it in so I was told to contact an electrician. I contacted several who were either flaky on responding or wanted to come over to give an estimate. In COVID times all I wanted was a best guess but no one would give me that. Then I found James Rose and I'm so glad I did. He responded quickly over Yelp messaging and was the ONLY electrician to let me know that we'd need to add the microwave on its own circuit to ensure good use and adherence to local codes. Could I have gotten away with a cheaper option? Yeah. But I wanted to do it right and James was the first person to tell me what that would entail. James and Diego came over and I was immediately comfortable with them. They were easy to talk to, explained everything they were going to do, covered up my floors and kitchen to keep it clean, and overall did a great job. While Diego was in the attic he discovered a live wire that hadn't been contained correctly (just plastic capped not placed in a box and covered) so he did that for me. He also found some incorrect wiring on my kitchen light and corrected that. At the end of the day James walked me though the changes and told me that they'd wired it so we could add another circuit if we needed in the future without the hassle of climbing through the attic and cutting into the house again - which I appreciated. James showed me on the microwave how to calculate the output and why a dedicated circuit was needed which was cool to know. Overall great service and I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

I just moved into a new place & have a ton of work to be done. Starting with installation of 4 ceiling fans & changing out can lights in the kitchen to LED. The ceiling fans turned into a really challenging project for James: the area above the master bedroom was block by a full wall in the attic (still not sure why it's there), wiring in other bedrooms didn't have positive, negative, & neutral wires, wiring for existing switches, outlets, etc. wasn't as expected. The can lights aren't normal residential cans so that, too, turned into a complication. James is great explaining what the issue is, why it might have been setup the way it was, and working toward a solution with cost at the top of his mind. James' team seamless installation of two minka ceiling fans and wired a box for a wall mounted control switch. Routed the wiring without an attic and limited crawl space, they didn't need to make extra cuts in the walls and ceiling. They ran into extra challenges with my 50's home and the DC motor fan, but he was extra patient in fixing old wiring. Very challenging project for the great price, but they pulled it off and extremely transparent and honest. It's over 80 degrees F, but these fans are quiet and the room feels like 70.
