His estimate was very reasonable and accurate. He installed new smoke detectors and fixed a number of minor problems, doing the work after a visit to the ER and a patched head. We'll call him again when we need an electrician read more

Had several conversations, and he quoted and explained the work. Unfortunately, I could never get him to return my phone calls after we decided to go ahead with the job. He kept putting me off and failing to return calls. I finally had to go to somebody else after two frustrating weeks. I cannot recommend this service, as no service ever got performed. read more

I called 3 times. He said he would come by. No Show. Never called me back. I run a small business and if I treated my clients like this I would have no business. A great electrician does not make a great business partner. Look elsewhere. read more

A solid 5 stars for James Rose Electric! James and his team did an amazing job on our house to start the new 2019 year off. It first began with moving in to a "new to us" house... there were a few quirks (wiring) that we wanted a professional electrician to weigh in on as well as some installation of lights in our home. We did some research and made a few calls to local electricians in the area. Out of that first initial screening, we down-selected a few of them for an in-person quote. One was a no-show, one seemed insincere, but James came through right in the middle with a balanced and honest suggestions. During the quote James was not only open to suggestions but provided solutions to us that we didn't feel were out of bounds, too extravagant, but actually curated for what we wanted to achieve. Once we finished, he took about 2-3 days to finalize our quote and send it over. The overall price was reasonable given the amount of work and we felt that James was going to work for it as opposed to feel entitled once we agreed to begin. Once work began, James introduced us to his small but very capable team. James crew were meticulous and James made sure to draw detailed schematics on measurements, instructions, and laid out clear priorities for the team. There were a necessary amount of holes that were drilled through the process - which may alarm some but the explanation was always done prior to execution. We expected most of the work to take about a week but James was able to wrap up most of the big items in less than that (approx 4 days). When all was said and done, we had James help us with wiring and light switch arrangements in 4 bedrooms, installed 2x4' and 2x2' LED flush-mount panel lighting in the garage, 2x occupancy sensors, 6 dimmers, installation of 21 cans for recessed lighting (and LED fixtures) - note that 6 of them were in vaulted ceilings approx. 20' high. In addition to the lighting and wiring work, James also helped us install surge protected receptacles and conduit to protect wires in a TV mount above our fireplace. Note - James does has an excellent drywall repair guy that helped us magically remove all traces of the holes he drilled. The overall experience and quality of work was superb, and we are the type of folks who don't let details slip by - neither is James. He is meticulous about his work and will do everything he can to make sure you're happy with the work. His communication throughout the experience was good, and any issues he quickly communicated. If there was any constructive criticism to provide, I'd ask James to be more punctual to accommodate for working schedules. But honestly, the attention to detail for work make up for the time issues for me (it takes time to do things right!). We have been very satisfied with our experience with James and would recommend him to any of our friends and family who need a skilled electrician to help them out! read more

I called up the number from this Yelp ad and got James himself on the first try. I explained my electrical woes that befell me earlier in the day and James was very responsive and sent one of his employees Diego to my house. He got there about an hour later, which was super fast! I gave Diego a little challenge with my predicament (sudden loss of power to my electrical plugin outlets in all my bedrooms) and after some diagnosing we finally found the root cause which was a faulty receptacle that shorted out the entire loop. Diego got everything back to where it needed to be. Thanks again guys for your help and I look forward to utilizing your services again! read more

TLDR: James and Diego were really fun and easy to work with and they did an amazing job adding a new circuit for my appliance. Diego even found a live wire in my attic that he boxed up for us (THANK YOU). I'd use them again in a heartbeat and will be recommending them to anyone who needs an electrician. Full Review: I recently installed a new microwave oven above my range to replace a decades old double oven that came with the house. We needed to add an outlet in the cupboard to plug it in so I was told to contact an electrician. I contacted several who were either flaky on responding or wanted to come over to give an estimate. In COVID times all I wanted was a best guess but no one would give me that. Then I found James Rose and I'm so glad I did. He responded quickly over Yelp messaging and was the ONLY electrician to let me know that we'd need to add the microwave on its own circuit to ensure good use and adherence to local codes. Could I have gotten away with a cheaper option? Yeah. But I wanted to do it right and James was the first person to tell me what that would entail. James and Diego came over and I was immediately comfortable with them. They were easy to talk to, explained everything they were going to do, covered up my floors and kitchen to keep it clean, and overall did a great job. While Diego was in the attic he discovered a live wire that hadn't been contained correctly (just plastic capped not placed in a box and covered) so he did that for me. He also found some incorrect wiring on my kitchen light and corrected that. At the end of the day James walked me though the changes and told me that they'd wired it so we could add another circuit if we needed in the future without the hassle of climbing through the attic and cutting into the house again - which I appreciated. James showed me on the microwave how to calculate the output and why a dedicated circuit was needed which was cool to know. Overall great service and I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

Amazing amazing service! James was extremely communicative and very patient with my timing on some late messages to him. We're looking to move one fan from a bedroom to my husband's office, but we need a day where he isn't on a conference call. When that happens, we're definitely calling James Rose Electric to complete this service. read more

Spoke to him once texted contact information at his request and never heard from him again even after a follow up. "I'm sorry I have a little to much going on right now and I'm not going to be able to help you out his time", is a perfectly acceptable answer but when you say I'll get back to you & don't that there in lies the issue, which i assume rolls over to projects as well. Moved on! read more

Called him for one of my tenants select rica need. Electrician promised to call my tenant next day to set up an appointment. Never did. I called him back in couple of days and apologetically promised to call my tenant next day. Again never made the call to my tenant. Totally unreliable electrician. read more

Scheduled appointment for installing a TV for my disabled son. Told him he was disabled so scheduling would need to be firm and on time as he has therapy etc... Waited a week and emailed day before appointment. No response. Called Voice mail full. Texted...no response. This company gave the highest estimate out of everyone, so I thought, must be top notch. ehhhhh no. Unfortunately will never call or can I recommend. read more

Late night blowout! Ready to adjourn to the living room about 8PM for some post eats Rams football and BAM! One little tiny extra portable heater and BAM! No power. Nada. None. Called James. In the middle of another job he walked me through resetting things and restored our power! Gratis! Incredible. He downed tools to help me set things right. That's as good as it gets. read more

The technician who came to our house was friendly, helpful, and thorough. It took a few tries to get someone to actually come to the house, but so glad we stuck with it and had the James Rose Electric team come. Will definitely be calling them again when we need more electric service. read more

James installed recessed lighting in our bedroom. He was very conscientious and went out of his way to avoid making holes in the dry wall. James was friendly and clean. Five stars for sure. I created my own pickle with my lights and needed them fixed along with the other half of my house that lost power. He took care of it for a fair price. Friendly and relatable. Very responsive to the yelp quote and messages leading up to the repair work. read more

I just moved into a new place & have a ton of work to be done. Starting with installation of 4 ceiling fans & changing out can lights in the kitchen to LED. The ceiling fans turned into a really challenging project for James: the area above the master bedroom was block by a full wall in the attic (still not sure why it's there), wiring in other bedrooms didn't have positive, negative, & neutral wires, wiring for existing switches, outlets, etc. wasn't as expected. The can lights aren't normal residential cans so that, too, turned into a complication. James is great explaining what the issue is, why it might have been setup the way it was, and working toward a solution with cost at the top of his mind. I suspect James will be a regular visitor until everything is done:-) read more

James was patient, knowledgeable and professional. Bought a new house in TO and wanted the outlets checked, some items repaired and replaced and had some speakers installed. Very satisfied with the entire project. Would definitely use again. read more

Nothing but praise for this company. Best quote I received on yelp. Wore a mask and worked quick. I can't ask for anything more. Love my new exterior lights. read more

The owner of this establishment is extremely rude and doesn't know the first thing about speaking to another person, let alone a customer. I felt extremely insulted after having a phone call with the number attached to this business. I wouldn't recommend this to anybody that I know. Not even worth the one star, but I can't leave zero. ETA: To add insult to injury, his response is entirely unprofessional. Instead of addressing the fact that he doesn't know the first thing about customer service, he's acting as if we never spoke in the first place. Completely insulting. read more

Very Satisfied Customer! I called a place prior to calling James, it was a call center. I couldn't get any direct answers. So grateful I found James, very professional and respectful. He is extremely knowledgeable of his business and he took care of my electrical problem. Save time and wonders and call James first. Thanks again for everything, Richmond F. read more

James' team seamless installation of two minka ceiling fans and wired a box for a wall mounted control switch. Routed the wiring without an attic and limited crawl space, they didn't need to make extra cuts in the walls and ceiling. They ran into extra challenges with my 50's home and the DC motor fan, but he was extra patient in fixing old wiring. Very challenging project for the great price, but they pulled it off and extremely transparent and honest. It's over 80 degrees F, but these fans are quiet and the room feels like 70. I found the right team for my home! read more

UPDATE: I've had James and his team do three separate jobs now (lighting/rewire, audio visual, and cooling) and have referred him to friends and family. He is absolutely trustworthy and a pleasure to work with. I'd expect he'll be out again for some something else soon. I love how he brings the latest industry insight and guidance when it comes to things like electric vehicles and solar trends. He REALLY knows his stuff. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Hiring someone to come into your home and perform any type of work is always a decision that should not be taken lightly. James is a very professional contractor who is unquestionably an expert in his field. I hired James recently to install recessed lighting in every room of my recently purchased home, as well as replace all switches, outlets, and perform a partial rewrite to ensure equal distribution to our electrical panel. I was very impressed by his working knowledge of building electrical codes as well as his methodical approach to determining the proper amount of lights to install in a given room. The results speak for themselves. We now have beautiful, hassle-free light in every room and we definitely do not feel like we live in a dark cave anymore. James went above and beyond along the way to identify and triage electrical issues he found while conducting his work. He would raise those concerns to me, but not in a "salesie" way in order to make sure I was informed as to the condition of my home. I will absolutely contract with James again in the future as the need arises. read more
