James helped us find our home in Santa Monica, in a market with inventory being sold quickly. We appreciated his personable and positive personality throughout the whole process. We were picky, but James stayed with us, as we visited dozens of properties over time. He made sure we got to see homes as soon as they were announced, which was a deciding factor in our successful purchase. As an experienced realtor and homeowner, James also provided us with useful insights on each property we visited. Highly recommend! read more

I had a complicated condo x 2 estate sale to complete and I don't live in LA. James was wonderful, extra responsive, very sensitive to tenant issues and is educated re real estate law etc. There were various 'issues' that came up and they were handled efficiently. He also is the kind of realtor who sweeps the yard himself. I couldn't recommend this man more and I have never actually met him but absolute legend! Thank you James! read more

James Maxwell of LA Real is amazing. I began the process of selling my home of 18 years and moving out of town with a lot of anxiety; the last thing I wanted was an endless slog through a confusing array of tasks. James has a professional, calm, and friendly energy about him that gave me the confidence I needed to see the sale of my home through. He and his team helped me stage my home perfectly for sale, wrote informative and persuasive content for home-selling and -buying websites, all while remaining in close contact with me by phone, email, and text. The end result says it all: after two weekends of open houses, we had multiple offers and sailed through the escrow period without a hiccup. I couldn't have asked for a better realtor. read more

James Maxwell of LA Real is an incredible agent. He went above and beyond when he took on the sale of our previous home. Little did we know when we hired him that our house needed major roof repairs and mold remediation before it could go to market. James did not flinch, instead rolling up his sleeves and helping manage this big project to completion. We were selling at a tough time in the market, but he was really positive and encouraging throughout the process, and proved to be very knowledgeable, professional, thoughtful and a skilled negotiator when it came time to sell. After all of this, James then proceeded to find us our dream home, which was still under construction and wasn't on the market yet. James understood our style and has a great eye for design, detail and good quality construction. He took all our wants and requests into consideration and, using his connections and business savvy, helped us score a corner lot on a cul de sac. From beginning to end, James was dependable, fully transparent, always reachable, friendly and kind. He's just a GOOD, SOLID PERSON and an amazing real estate agent. My husband and I feel really lucky to have found him and highly recommend him! read more

James is an exceptional agent and recently helped us purchase a wonderful home in LA! He came recommended by a close mutual friend in the Bay Area (where we relocated from) and I can see why the praise was warranted. James is not only resourceful and extremely knowledgable about all things real estate, but his negotiation skills are second to none. It doesn't hurt that he has an incredible reputation and network! On a personal level, James is caring and patient (two underrated attributes in this profession) and always had our best interests in mind. Above all, when it came time to put in an offer and close within a strict timeline, he managed and executed everything down to a "T". We can't recommend James enough and we'll certainly continue to work with him in the future. Thanks for everything! read more

James & Giulia are the crème de la crème of LA-area real estate. After 4+ months of home hunting in the Bay-area, we decided to take our money south to the LA-area (Santa Clarita, LA, Long Beach). The LA Real team was able to quickly generate a search for us and plan a long weekend of house-hunting while we were just in town for 4 days. Driving back north during that trip, we put an offer on a home and it was accepted before we were back to San Jose. All along the way, James & Giulia held our hands and advocated for us, as well as shepherded a successful sale in less than 45 days. It was kind of incredible. They are truly the icing on the cake -- you can't go wrong with them! read more

James is fantastic and we're so glad we found him! My husband and I were clueless first-time buyers, and James came recommended by a friend. He went above and beyond in guiding us through the home-buying process, and was incredibly patient and thorough in answering our many questions. He was both a diligent, proactive realtor and our much-needed therapist throughout the nerve-wracking month that we spent looking for our perfect home in a crazy market where homes were getting 20-30 offers each and inventory was extremely low (we were very specific about the neighborhood we wanted to buy in). Thanks to James, we were able to quickly close on our future long-term home at a price we're very happy with. In hindsight, we know 1000% that we could not have pulled this off without him and his expertise. He was reliable and attentive, and really cared about getting us what we wanted at a good price. And the result is that we're now the proud owners of our dream home! Can't recommend him highly enough! read more

James is an amazing agent and has his client's best interest at heart. He is incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and patient. He acted with integrity and not just out to make a sale as he clearly demonstrated by going over the contract with me in great detail and making sure my investment is protected even if we had to wait a few days to close. He went above and beyond in accommodating my busy schedule and is generous with his time. I highly recommend James to anyone looking to team with an agent to find their dream home. read more

James was recommended to us by our real estate consultant and the recommendation could not have been better. James, with his partner Giulia, helped us navigate the Los Angeles real estate market with patience, kindness and absolute professionalism. He was very proactive in holding our hands through every aspect of the home buying process - from weeding out homes that weren't for us, to strategically making an offer on a fabulous single family home and having it accepted, to helping us close and prepare the house for moving in. He was always available to us, and was always ready to share his deep well of knowledge of real estate. We've known James for about fifteen years, both in San Francisco and when we moved to Los Angeles. I wouldn't trust anyone else to help me with buying or selling a home. Buying a house is stressful. VERY stressful. And yet, working with James was such a fantastic experience and I couldn't imagine working with a different buying agent. James guided us through our first house purchase, answering our many questions patiently and pointing out myriad subtleties about specific houses and the buying process that we were unaware of. We looked at over 20 houses over the course of about a month before finding the first one that we wanted to place an offer on. It was perfect for us, and James helped us stay within our budget while also offering a very competitive offer to the seller. We went into contract and closed in a short escrow period. I truly believe that without James' knowledge and expertise, we wouldn't have gotten this house. Certainly not at the price that we managed to get. He knew how to price our offers, how to make us attractive to the seller, etc. And perhaps most importantly, James felt like a true ally for us in finding the right house. We never, ever felt pressured to make an offer on a house that we weren't convinced on. He really cared about finding us the house we wanted, in our price range and desired locations. I can't say enough good things about James. He was a true pleasure to work with, and I hope to work again with him in the future! read more

My husband and I searched a long time to find the right agent to represent us and we were so glad when we finally found James. As first time homebuyers, we were looking for an agent who was a good listener and took time to understand our needs. Throughout the entire process, James was extremely diligent, hardworking, and responsive. He was on top of everything and made the process very easy (and a lot less stressful) for us. He was very flexible and accommodating, often working late hours to turn documents around or do last minute walkthroughs. We appreciated his authenticity and integrity and felt like he had a genuine investment in our best interest. Given his deep experience, he was an invaluable advisor to us in the process and educated us on trade offs of costs and investment options for various properties. Regarding offers, he was spot on with his comp analysis and recommendations. Regardless of what the comps suggested, he never pushed or pressured us and let us guide the decision making process each step of the way. He did a great job negotiating on credits and deductions on the final sale. Not only was James great during the buying process, but he has been incredible post the transition with his help resolving escrow issues. He is one of those agents who is genuinely invested in the interests of his clients instead of just making the sale. We are so grateful for James. We would recommend him to anyone looking to buy and can't wait to work with him again. read more

My superagent helped me find a triplex rental property in Jul2022. Just having glanced at his MLS query that I received everyday, I saw one property that generated my interest. In period of four days we were in escrow after beating out other bidders. My agent negotiation experience helped me to put a successful bid slightly over asking price but after inspection the final price was negotiated $15K below asking price. One can say maybe we just got lucky. Well this was the second property we bought using his help. The first property we bought 18 months ago in Jan2021, he negotiated $50K below asking price with numerous months repairs paid by seller. read more

James' dedication in finding us the right home was more than we could have ever expected from a realtor. He connected us with a home that we believed to be out of our reach. At first we were hesitant to make an offer on the property because it was already listed at the top of our budget in a competitive neighborhood. We explained our concerns and he made it work. He tailored an offer that we believe was both attractive to the seller, yet within our means. His diligence with inspections ensures that his clients thoroughly understand the condition of the home in interest. James had saved us from pursuing homes that potentially could have cost us more than we had anticipated. Through the process, he offered valuable advice and insight, and quickly reached out to his resources for answers when needed. At our first meeting with James, he provided us with a list of lenders he recommends. We ended up selecting one from his list because they were able to offer the best interest rate; additionally, we had come to learn how efficiently James and the loan consultant worked together to get the process underway in a timely fashion. James was attentive, highly communicative, and there for us every step of the way. My husband and I would recommend him in a heartbeat and would seek his services again should we need a realtor. read more

He carefully explained all of our options, and gave us ample information to help us make the best decision for us when it came down to making a deal with a buyer. James was tireless in his dedication to finding the right place for me as I looked to buy my first house in Los Angeles. Understanding that home buying is Los Angeles is a daunting experience and can at times feel like a process that is never going to work for you, it's great to have someone in your corner who can bring your blood pressure down and keep the process a positive one. We had one of the more drawn out purchases I've ever heard of, but throughout the entire thing, James was there to tell us to be patient and when we couldn't / wouldn't stay patient, he showed us other amazing options that he knew would work for our family. Ultimately, his advice and guidance for patience did pay off and the transition from renter to homeowner could not have been a smoother process. Thanks almost entirely to James' professionalism and knowledge, we never had to worry about a thing from making the offer to signing the closing documents. I'd be quite confident that the rest of his team shares his passion and professionalism. read more

We could not have picked a better and more experienced agent. James did an amazing job in making sure that we got our dream home in our favorite neighborhood Silverlake even though it meant fighting 17 other offers and dealing with a difficult and unprofessional seller/agent. James was very thorough and methodical in his approach right from the very beginning during an open house visit in which he spotted issues that ended up being confirmed by the general inspection to negotiations with the seller/agent, down to administrative matters involving contracts and contingency removals. He is also a clear and patient communicator. We absolutely appreciated that James always made himself available whenever we needed to talk to him even during the Christmas holidays and on vacation with his family. So, if you're hunting for your dream house on such a tight market like Los Angeles, you will want to be represented by an agent as experienced and well connected as James Maxwell. read more
