I drove from LA and met my elderly parents at the Triple A. Aside from my parents also accidentally forgetting their paperwork and having to go back home, the person, the other things that were difficult were that we needed to have their lawyers on zoom witnessing all the signatures. We also needed a 2nd witness which I was told over the phone that Triple A would do, yet when I got there, they said that they weren't allowed to do so. Not only that, the Triple A notary person was super unaccommodating fresh out the gate and perhaps because she was overworked, was short/rude-ish even we were all politely interacting. When I realized none of this was going to happen in a good way, we left Triple A, and I immediately called Erica to see if she was able to come to my parents house. She said that she'd be able to in 1.5 hours. I called the lawyers, who were able to accommodate the time change of our appointment. All was set. Erica came on time, was super professional, knew what to ask and how to amend our lawyers accidental mistake on one of the forms, and did everything by the books. Erica is also SUPER friendly and happily took off her shoes in my immigrant parents home. She was kind and personable with them, I could see my parents instantly feel at ease with her. She also acted as the 2nd witness for us. We all took her card (including my friend who acted as the 1st witness). And we will be sharing her information with all our people. With elderly parents and with the need for wifi for the zoom, we needed someone with patience and professionalism. Erica is perfection. I think her business is thriving already, but I hope she gets all the business in the Antelope Valley and beyond.

When I got to my appointment, I prepared everything down to the minimum detail for Mr. Thomas, as instructed by him last year when we first met. He clearly mentioned last year to be very specific about details for my tax return, given the complexity. Last year, he gave me the impression of being a nice and kind person, who was really happy to help. I provided my package to the front desk lady, with the recommendation not to disrupt the order when making copies. When I entered the office, my package was in a mess, and I had to explain where the essential stuff was. I had made all calculations for Mr. Thomas, he just had to plug in the numbers, and I had preserved all related activities and receipts to my 1099s to facilitate any further reading, if required. The individual literally exploded at a certain point with the above words, and kicked me out. It's funny that I was filing for a large income, and this guy just literally said it was too much work. I would have been happy to pay a great fee for his work, but he decided to show me the door instead. Well done Mr. Thomas! I'll put out great words about this place...

One note, though, their office hour has changed since the pandemic. If you can't find live operator, leave a voice message, & they will try their best to reach back at you. The receptionist, Ms Nancy, is really good at that. As you enter air conditioned "Villegas' crib" through the humongous, heavy-set double-doors, the friendly receptionist Ms Nancy will welcome you with a broad smile, every time. At which point, you may even hear Ben conversing with the clients with a chortle here & there. The deco for the waiting room is rather modern and clean-crisp look. His fee is pretty reasonable. For a straight forward tax filing like mine, his fee was $350. A consultation with him will cost you, perhaps, at least another $100. It was a no brained - worth it for me. Rumor has it that, he has a decent collection of liquor. He may like you even more if you bring him a liquor or 2 as a gift. Salute!

I started using Villegas and Associates in 2021. This year, 2026, is the last time I will give them…read moremy business. I encouraged my son and daughter-in-law to also try them for their tax preparation. They are more angry than I am as his incompetence cost them thousands of dollars. Villegas and Associates has lost all three of us as clients. We were assigned to Orlando. Orlando can do a basic return, but the slightest issue seems to create problems for him. He is less than enthusiastic about finding ways to save money for his clients. You are expected to know exactly what you can write off. He never makes suggestions to help you find tax savings. The client is expected to know the tax code and what expenses may be available to itemize. He entered the incorrect information about an EV. He got the make and model wrong despite having the purchase agreement with all information clearly provided. It should have been a four thousand dollar rebate. Since he did not enter the correct information, the rebate was denied. He said it was my daughter-in-laws responsibility to call the IRS to straighten it out. I knew this was wrong and spoke directly with Benny Villegas about this and several other issues of concern regarding Orlando. Mr. Villegas agreed that it was Orlando's responsibility to file an amended return. He ASSURED me that he would have Orlando complete the return in order to obtain the rebate. He also asked for email evidence of other issues that we discussed. I provided the email the following day with a cover letter reiterating our concerns. It has been a week since our meeting with Benny Villegas. He did not respond to my letter. He did call my daughter-in-law to arrange a meeting on a Saturday morning. Orlando was at the meeting, but Villegas did not participate. Orlando seemed more interested in how many times my daughter-in-law attempted to call IRS than correcting his error. To date, she has no knowledge that he has filed the amended return. He claimed he was going to send the amended return AFTER he spoke with the IRS. However, she is unaware if the IRS has received the amended tax return. According to the IRS website, Form 8936 was improperly filled out due to the wrong make and model information; action is required to correct it. There is no further information. A follow-up call to the office revealed that Orlando hasn't worked all week, and there was no information available about her amended return. Neither Orlando, nor Benny Villegas has communicated with her. The level of incompetence and utter lack of disregard for accuracy is appalling. His refusal to take responsibility for his errors and his insistence that she correct his failures is unprofessional and unacceptable. According to an email that was circulated to his entire client contact list, we are not the only clients who are choosing to take our business elsewhere.
