Let me start off by saying Dr. Steven Cohen seems to be a nice, down-to-earth, laid back doctor…read more He doesn't seemed rushed - and I'm sure most patients love that. But his office staff can be disorganized, making it difficult to schedule an actual appointment. Today I fasted all day - both food and liquids only to be told that I was scheduled for a problem visit - not a physical. Also - the young lady that booked my appointment told me I would be seeing "Richard Cohen" (not Steven) and that's who I'd seen previously. I almost declined the appointment. Turns out she was mistaken. When I mentioned this to the doctor, he kind of just brushed it off. The only reason I even mentioned it is so that he doesn't lose potential or existing patients because some nut manning the phones doesn't know the names of all the doctors in the group. But I digress. I had a 3:15pm appointment and was not finished until 5:11pm. Here's what didn't happen: 1. I did not get the scheduled physical / wellness visit (insurance company provides one free one per year) 2. I did not get labs done (although he offered) - after nearly 2 hours - I had to leave - I had work to do, I was tired, thirsty and thoroughly irritated with the doctor 3. I did not get Rx for medications that I'd taken previously - and I'm referring to regular run-of-the mill Rx's - not narcotics or other potentially addictive meds. 4. I got my ears tortured. I did have a somewhat stuffy right ear - so his nurse (friendly, funny Lakeisha) - spent about 20 minutes trying, unsuccessfully, to irrigate both ears. When she couldn't get the blockage taken care of, she called Dr. Cohen back in - and he was very rough when he examined them - like he was pissed that he had to come back in. I have to admit - my feelings were a little hurt. Or maybe I was just hungry. Lol. But thanks to that nonsense - my ears are ringing and sensitive to wind right now. Maybe my expectations of a primary care physician are too high. I'm looking for a one-stop-shop kinda guy. I don't want to have to pay $75 and go see another Wellstar doctor for medicine for skin psoriasis or acne cream - I want my PCP to write it if I'm in his office. Is it possible to OD or abuse this kind of stuff? What's the deal? Anyway - so thanks, Dr. Cohen - aka Cobb Medical Group - WellStar Health System. a. I still need a physical b. I still need labwork. c. I spent $35 to have my ears tortured and to be given a case of tinnitus d. I did get one Rx and advice on how to wean myself off a maintenance med e I did get an offer of a referral to an ENT (which I declined) Let me end this on a positive note; Once again - Dr. Cohen will take extraordinary time in the exam room with you. The front desk staff is very pleasant "in person" - Nurse or assistant was friendly They are using the "My Chart" system that allows you to see your lab results, schedule appointments, even send messages to the Doctor. (This is great - can't believe all doctors aren't doing this.) Suffice it to say - I really wanted to love this practice - its close, convenient, I liked Dr. Cohen's bedside manner (at first) . . . but after the clusterf*ck of my first two visits* - and now this one - I will definitely be looking for a new primary care physician. *They screwed up my labs the last time - and I had to call and beg for results . . . not going through that again - I'm an idiot for even going back today.
