We had the most amazing shoot out in Laguna Beach yesterday and I can't wait to see the photos they took. My fiance and I have met with many photographers in preparation for our big day. And, of course, we've done the obligatory engagement photos, announcement photos, you name it! Nothing was as exciting and romantic as our shoot with Jason and Don. I came across Jason Lanier photography through a non-profit organization event last year. I first met Don. He was really friendly. He showed me the albums they brought to the event where they had a table set up (and they were the photographers for the event). I saw how amazing the on-location shots were in their portfolio and immediately I knew I would love to work with these guys. I visited their website when I got home and I have to admit, at first, I was a bit intimidated by their prices. But after a great conversation with Jason, and I told him about my budget considerations, he assurred me that we can work something out. Since my fiance and I have done numerous pictures already, Jason came up with a great idea of doing unique and unconventional bridal shots justaposed with the beach in the background. I was immediately attracted to the idea. I got a beautiful white gown off the rack, (the one I am wearing at the church actually doesn't arrive until June!), cool beach sandals, and had my hair and make up done. My fiance was in a tux and we were both ready for action! Instead of boring posed shots or contrived jumping up and down, we had some beautiful shots showcasing the beautiful waves, gorgeous cliffs and amazing sunset. If my little Sony point and shoot could capture us looking great, I can't even begin to imagine what Jason and his partner could do! We wanted romantic photos and also fun ones which speak to our personalities. Jason borrowed a surfboard from a fellow beach-goer and we had a great time with that! Not to mention the cool prop, fake wine glass and fake red wine (vitamin water!), just totally neat things that I would not even think to do for a beach bridal photo shoot. I saw some photos on his camera after the shoot and I just can't wait until after his post production is complete and we can see the results. I highly recommend Jason and Don to everyone. We had an amazing time and I just can't say how much I appreciated the thought that goes into preparing for our bridal shoot out on the beach! I'll update everyone after we receive our pix and if possible, maybe I'll even share one or two of them on Yelp!

I found it interesting that the comment mentions the "record" but not the phone call we had, where he yelled at me and accused me of being disrespectful of his art and the reason why he didn't, and I quote, "feel the vibe to work with me". I do recall him trying to get me back through text but I don't think any sane person would choose to continue after what happened. He reemphasized what a big heart he had to return the deposit and made sure I never forget about it. I remember myself tearing up over the phone, not believing what was happening and feeling humiliated. Thanks to my lovely friends, the day wasn't completely ruined. Again I don't know if he is a great photographer or not, but considering hiring him was the one of the biggest mistakes I made and I regret it.

He took stills of our decorations, candids of our guests and family portraits. He had many different lenses so we got a variety of looks. To this day my wedding guests remember him. Not in a good way. He was so very, very rude to myself and my guests on my wedding day. He seemed to think that this was *his* day, on *his* schedule. During the group photo, he referred to my guests by such names as "fat man" and "leather jacket." I could not believe how disrespectful and arrogant he was. He got impatient when everybody didn't move exactly where he thought they should be. At one point I needed to talk to the caterer, and he was telling me to get off the phone. I got several photos where I was on the phone, confirming the food delivery. Sorry if it's not on your schedule! For the couples photos of my husband and I, he had us go down to the dirty bathroom on the beach. He insisted we take photos there, even though there was flies everywhere and they were making my husband uncomfortable. He only took 4 photos of my bouquet. The bouquet itself was beautiful, but the photos were all the same location and angle, and not a single one turned out right. As a result, I have no decent photos of my bridal bouquet. That makes me saddest of all. At the reception, he dragged me outside to take a bunch of "spontaneous" awkward photos with some of my husband's work friends, but he demanded they be taken at the exact moment my Grandfather was leaving, so I missed saying goodbye to him. The last straw was that he took almost no photos of the reception area, and no candid guests photos. I had asked him to take some before he began eating. As soon as he decided he was done, he ate, then left 3 hours early. Two months after this ordeal, I received a CD with the photos on it. There was not a single usable photo out of all of them. I spent 1/4 of the wedding budget on this guy, and have nothing to show for it. Wish I hadn't wasted my money. He didn't white balance a single thing, so the background is washed out & white, my makeup looks streaky and terrible, and the photos all just turned out really ugly. When I show his photos to other people, they are shocked at how bad they turned out. I also had 2 amateur photographers taking candid photos at the wedding. Erik was extremely rude to them, telling them to stop taking photos even after I told him I wanted them to take photos also. He was probably jealous/nervous. I'm so glad I had them there, because at least I have some decent photos of the wedding. My little sister took better photos, and she was a college student at the time! Be warned: DO NOT HIRE!!!!!

I decided it is best that everyone sees how rude his messages were to me. I had told him I was working and that I would reply when I could. His responses are very rude and unprofessional. Of course, he'll tell you otherwise! DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE PROMISES only TRUST THE CONTRACT. He writes it so VAGUE and unclear even the Judge had to get clarification from HIM on a meaning!! His CONTRACT also states HE DOESN't NEED TO TAKE ANY CERTAIN photos and NO GUARANTY that he'll get the special picture! HE'll verbally promise you hundred's of photos but will ONLY DELIVER VERY FEW in ratio to the number taken!! When you question him about it he'll refer to the POORLY WRITTEN CONTRACT! Meaning you are SCREWED! We sadly learned all of this in Los Angeles County Superior Court! Can you believe he sued me for a BAD REVIEW!!! The price he quoted for me was phenomenal compared to other companies. We came up with a game plan of where and when the proposal was going to happen and left it at that until the day of. Mind you we came in from out of town so me and Jonathan never actually met in person until after I had proposed so communication was key and he did a good job communicated with me the spot he wanted us in for the best picture. The price he quoted us for was $125 for 1 hours worth of photography and 75 photos on a web gallery for us to download. He was very open to any ideas we had and any locations in the general area. Photos were ready fairly quickly couple days after the shoot. Jonathan was great! If your thinking about hiring a photographer for any event, he's your guy! Great price, friendly, and works quickly!

We stood in front of the flower wall for photos and he zoomed into our faces and did not get the entire wall in ONE picture. After a while of calling, texting, leaving voicemails and emails he finally sent over the short video he created of the entire event. I then asked him to send me the raw/unedited footage and he said he would. To date I have not received it.
