They are "out of network" with all insurance providers and what this means is you will need to pay out of pocket at time of service. They will invoice insurance on your behalf, and you will get reimbursed by insurance. Beware that LJBS will invoice at the full cash rate not at the agreed upon contract rate. In our case the discrepancy between full cash rate vs agreed upon contract rate amounted to $250. So not only did I need to pay $650 out of pocket for 3 kids, for a normal run of the mill dental cleaning and check up, I was only reimbursed $400 from insurance. I've lived in 3 different countries, 7 cities - I've never come across a practice where you must pay out of pocket first. So if you're ok potentially being reimbursed less for a general service that is fully covered by insurance for basic needs, the hygienist is awesome.

Even the hygienist was very kind and patient with our 5 year old child. Our child did not have any cavities or dental concerns so we scheduled a return visit for the following year. Our second visit was today and we had a horrible experience. We met with a different hygienist than before and she was rude, inpatient and made our child feel extremely uncomfortable with her remarks. Our child was nervous and started crying when the hygienist came in. Instead of being calm and patient, the hygienist told our child if she did not stop crying " Mommy would have to wait in the waiting room." Then she proceeded to call another hygienist in and told me to hold my child down so they could brush her teeth. I said, ABSOLUTELY NOT! If my child is nervous, why would I restrain her? That sounds very aggressive and abusive to me. I told the hygienist that we can cancel the appointment or try again another time. She walked us to the checkout area. As we were checking out I asked to schedule an appointment with Dr. Young ( the first doctor we saw). The secretary was nice and said she would do it, but before she could put the appointment in Dr. Michael B. Quigley came out and refused to let us reschedule our appointment. His exact words were " If your child cannot handle seeing different providers maybe you should go somewhere else to a smaller, more private practice." I said " Are you refusing us services? " He said " We are not going to reschedule you." He also proceeded to tell me he owns the practice. His racist undertone was disturbing to say the least. I would never go back there again. Dr. Michael B. Quigley and the hygienist we saw today owe our family an apology. The way they treated my child and I was unacceptable.

Not only are…read morethe office staff friendly and accommodating, but the dental assistants who do the cleanings are wonderfully patient with the very youngest patients, and those who have special needs such as my nearly adult son with severe autism. My kids actually look forward to going to see the dentist without being bribed by toys, etc. I especially enjoy scheduling our appointments to occur concurrently so we can get in and out in the minimum amount of time. The later hours maintained by this office also allow me to schedule even on school days without having to pull my children out of school early.

Called up Dr. Zax's office and the appointment making process was pleasant and quick. That's where the positivity of this review ends. I also want to preface this review with the fact that I am NOT one of those people who is terrified of the dentist. I have never been afraid of any doctor. I spent nearly three hours at their office from start to finish. For a CLEANING! A Cleaning! Waited in the waiting room for a half an hour. Sat in the torture chair for an hour and a half. Waited another half an hour for the doctor to review the Grim Reaper's work. Waited ten minutes for doctor to get off of her cell phone. Listened to the doctor try to convince me for another ten minutes that I "might" have a cavity (I am 42 years old and have never had a cavity) and that I will need to come back and get it "fixed" for a few more hundred dollars. The rooms were freezing. Maybe they need to be, I don't know. The dental assistant proceeded to tell me everything that my previous dentist had done wrong in the last twenty years. Picked at my teeth with her mouth-hatchet for far longer than I've ever had anyone do in the past. My entire mouth was sore for two days (again, a first) and I had a headache for 24 hours after that appointment. The receptionist is very cheery. So thanks for that. Good music in the office too.
