I've been seeing Dr. Wolfe for about 19 years. At times he might come across as rude but he is a very good allergist, Asthma specialist and is very well respected by many doctors in various fields. He loves dark chocolate and fresh fruit. His staff is amazing across all the offices. You won't find this kind of care anywhere else, especially now days when doctors are afraid to diagnose and more afraid to treat. This doesn't happen on Dr. Wolfe's watch. I had severe cough that wouldnt go away for months. Life was hell. No amount of narcotics in the cough syrup would make it stop but thats all my doctors gave me. I was reading Diagnosis, the monthly New York Times article in which brilliant physicians make rare diagnoses in patients with medical mysteries, and that's where I found Dr. Wolfe, an allergist and pulmonologist whose office just happened to be near where I live. I looked him up and found he was the senior member of his allergy group, had an impressive background, and had received multiple awards. So I made an appointment to see him. When I saw Dr. Wolfe, he was kind, thoughtful, and calming. He obtained a very detailed medical history and ordered a variety of tests. Within days he diagnosed my problem, changed my medications, and put me on a new treatment plan. In less than ten days after seeing Dr. Wolfe, my longstanding, debilitating cough was gone, I finally could sleep through the night again, and I was back to exercising without difficulty. This place is borderline horrible for trying to get special medications like Dupixent prescribed. The nurses here are consistently messing up the prior authorization requests to insurance companies, always gives me false information about how I should approach the insurance companies directly about expediting authorizations when the insurance companies flat out tell me "No, the nurses have to go through us". I just moved recently and of course, they gave my new insurance company my old address instead of my new one, after telling them that I went through an address change. Selena, who is the nurse in charge of prescribing Dupixent medications, is always unavailable. I remember trying to call her about 15 times throughout a week and she still wouldn't pick up. Leaving a voice mail feels meaningless. You can't email her, nor the clinic, about anything related to prior authorization. It befuddles me that they can't use emails to communicate to patients, when that would be so much easier than trying to get a phone call through. They apparently can't use technology for more streamlined communication. I am not faulting Selena personally for this; this clinic is just an unorganized mess. They use ancient technology and rely on ancient protocol for prescriptions and communicating with insurance companies. What is the point of a phone number when you can't pick up the phone 85% of the time and don't respond to voicemail 85% of the time? While I was transitioning between two different insurance providers, I could not receive my medication for over a month due to this mess. If you are seeking special medication that needs prior authorization from insurance companies, don't do it through this clinic. read more

I have very mixed feeling about Dr. Wolfe!! I was referred to him by my physical therapist because I had repeat bad sinus infection and an annoying cough for months and months and months... My longest run was from Oct 2010-Feb 2011 with 5 different antibiotics! On one hand I am very mad at him for not listening to what my needs are. He was all about pumping me full of medications that I KNEW I wasn't going to react well with. I told him I was allergic to Eurythamycin and he prescribed Bioxin to me. Well I found out after I almost died that Bioxin is a much stronger form of Eurythamycin!! When I saw him for a follow up, he told me to take a break from the medication and start again in a week!! WTF? Did you just not listen to me, I almost died!! I decided to not go back to him and find alternative treatment. I did find an amazing ENT who did a live sinus culture to find out exactly what bacteria was causing all the problems. I am now on nothing but natural cures (raw juicing) and have not been sick since February!! On the other hand, even though the medication almost killed me, my cough and sinus infection are gone!! read more

James Wolfe almost killed me. He wouldn't listen to my symptons and said that he knew what I had simply because he said so. He was wrong and I almost paid with my life. It wasn't until I went to another doctor in Menlo Park that I got well. Wolfe is an egomaniac with delusions of grandeur. I was referred to him for chronic sinus issues potentially caused by allergies. He was great at the start of my appointment- he's energetic, friendly and knows what he's doing. Highly efficient and friendly office staff and nurses too, which made for a pretty nice visit overall. However, the reason for the 2 stars is the rushed and lack of time feeling i was left with. After all my tests, he comes in, announces " So, the tests look like ___. You don't have _ and do have _." When I started to ask for details on what I do have, a long-term course of treatment, life style changes or things to stay away from etc., he cut me off with: " Here, come stand over here and I'll write it down for you." Proceeds to say the name loudly and slowly as he writes it down, and hands me over to a nurse to be given free samples. I can understand a physician being busy, but fail to understand this attitude that seems to think it is okay to brush people off like this. This would be unacceptable if a mechanic did it to my car, much less a doctor treating my symptoms this way. read more

We go to the moorpark office about 20 times the past year because of my kid's bad allergy and sinus infection. Every single time we went, no matter how early we arrive, the wait time is always more than one hour. It's very difficult for a four year old active kid and also difficult for a working mom. And they never give any explain. When I ask, they sometimes tell me that the doctor had a difficult patient. Sometimes they tell me there are two patients in front of us, but then after another 45 min, we are still waiting. And funny thing is, our time with the Doctor never went more than 5 minutes. I am very frustrated, I have been going to Dr. Wolf since I was a child and yes, he is a GREAT doctor!!!! The last two scheduled visits (I arrived on time to) I had to wait for more than 45 minutes while watching people that arrived after me get seen before me. This was the second and the last time I had waited to be seen. I ended up leaving because I have a work schedule and took time out of my lunch to seek care that I didn't get. The very nice desk representative apologized and told me that I could be waiting for an additional 20 minutes before being seen. I understand that some days can be busier then some, but what's the point of scheduling an appointment if you won't be seen in a timely manner? I am sad to say that I am now on the hunt for a new allergy doctor and won't be coming back. read more

This is my first ever review on any site. Im writing this review because of the worst experience I ever had. My spouse had mild asthma attack , I suggested him to visit Asthma allergic clinic. He was given some medication. Dr Wolfe wanted him to go through some tests. As this being his first time in the clinic he signed for the tests. No one ever intimated him how much would be the cost of the test. They ran some tests on the first day and asked him to come on the next day , as insurance was not covering it in single day. They colllected copay on both the days. After few weeks they send the bill which is 740 $. When I approached the billing department all they say is my spouse hasnt asked for the amount while they were conducting the tests. When I ask them why were we not intimated , they say they are offended with my tone and i'm threatening them. Being in medical field I expect some respect from the doctors and people working in the clinic.The lady who ever spoke to me was really rude on me. read more

I was referred to Dr Wolfe by a cousin. I have gone to him for the past 3 years when the allergy season kicks in. I remember when I showed up the first time with a lot of allergy issues, he came in and had a great bedside manner. He was very personable and I felt comfortable quickly. After his exam, he jokingly said - you're a mess inside there. let's get you all better. He knows he stuff and was very thorough. He new exactly was to test for and got me going in the right direction. He's busy like any other typical doctor, but he focuses on you while you are there and give you 100%. I have had great results every visit. His diagnostics have been spot on every time, even to things that were not allergy related but caused by something else. RUDEST STAFF EVER!!!!! Enjoy being yelled at and never getting your questions answered. It is really sad because people who come here are really sick but the staff simply doesn't care. They usually end up making me cry because they won't listen to me. You get to make an appointment or leave a message for the nurse that will never be returned or you can be sent to the refill line even after you've told them it won't work because someone else said you have to see the doctor first. One lady said the new doctor can write your RX. Another person said no, they can't you have to see the original doctor you saw. Don't expect to be listened to or treated with any kindness. I have never been treated so poorly especially by a "medical professional". DON'T GO HERE THEY ARE THE AWFUL!!!!!!!! Honestly it is terrifying to deal with them if you have a life threatening issue that requires medicine because they will withhold treatment because they don't listen. read more

Dr Wolfe is a very experienced asthma/bronchitis specialist. He knows his subject very well. My daughter has been visiting his clinic for the last 4 years. We got a recommendation for him in one of the company message boards, where a patient who has gained from his services had recommended him. My daughter had acute pulmonary problems - Bronchitis/Asthma. She could hardly do any sports, breathing was an issue, could not sleep well and so on. We went to Dr. Wolfe and since then, my daughter is now very well, doesn't have any sleeping problems, her lungs can get air to the maximum capacity, and I see a significant change in her physical capabilities. I would highly recommend him if you have any pulmonary problems. Another thing I like about him is, even though he is quite busy, he always gets us in if there is attention needed, the same day. In January 2014 she became ill with a severe case of asthmatic bronchitis and probably would have died except for the excellent care of Dr. Wolfe and his wonderful staff. Dr. Wolfe prescribed the perfect course of medicine and treated her with loving care as if she were his own mother. I have had an itching problem go the skin with no rash for the last 12 years. The itching has gotten worse in the last few years. I went to a allergist about 7 years ago and he was not able to come up with a diagnosis. My friend recommended Dr Wolf who she has been going to for years? I went to the doctor a month ago. A doctor who says to you "I will never let you suffer again" gets 5 stars in my book! I am so used to chronic bronchitis that I had been living with it for months on end! No antibiotics could help me until they just went away after 6 months or so. Recently I've started developing hives to so many different things that after a blood test, my family doctor told me to go find an allergist. Among the list of allergist, Dr. Wolfe stuck out to me. After suffering 3 days without any antihistamines, I was finally seen by Dr. Wolfe and given a bunch of tests! I was finally diagnosed with asthma, which I had no idea I even had astma! He was so easy to talk to and made the whole experience very comfortable. And I was given specifics of all the things I am allergic to! Skin test, blood tests, and everything was done. The first initial treatment is a few hours, but they let you know that in advanced so you can plan your appointment accordingly. The nurses at the Blossom Hill office and the Moorpark office are so sweet and easy to talk to! There wasn't an awkward silence when they are poking at you so you forget the whole thing!
