Not only did she unconfirm my worst fear but in such a way I didn't feel like I was being over the top for thinking that could be what I have. She agreed I needed tonsillectomy at 41 but she asked me 3 times if I was sure given how difficult the recovery is and how painful it is but assured me she would handle the pain. The office manager I wasn't happy with as she gave me the run around because the doctor was new to the practice and she hadn't been accredited for both of my insurance's yet. And refused to look into anything else but said she would look into a different doctor being able to take my case. But I wanted Dr.Nyland. Long story short she finally did my surgery on 12/4 and boy was Dr.Nyland not kidding it is awful. But the doctor set me up for success with pain management. Because of regime of how to handle it if I stay on top of it stays at a 6/10. If I don't do every 4 hours to 1-2 tablets it gets it to where I can at lease drink water. I was scared with running out of meds cause my pharmacy told me something completely different. But I called on Friday and the MA assured me to take 1-2 every 4 hour's and not to worry it is the worst pain I will feel in life and they have my back if they need to order anything else. I don't know who the past doctor was at this practice but don't let the stars effect up to 6 months ago as Dr.Nyland is new to the practice. She is kind and comical. I'm incredibly glad I waited. And as a person who gets judged because of my tattoos and meds list she didn't. Thank you Dr.Nyland and staff for helping me through this darkest time of my life.

ENTs are in short supply, there's no great solution as far as getting good care quickly…read more I'd say this guy is top notch, the doctor himself gets 5 stars, it's just the office scheduling apparatus is confusing if you're a bit disorganized. Problems were really due to my own disorganization but if you aren't punctual and organized you'll have to reschedule. First off it took about 6-7 weeks to get an appointment, but this is actually good as I explain later. Apparently ENTs need an audiologist's report to have an objective chart of frequency/deficit relationships with your hearing. This takes an hour, too expensive for an MD to do--so this is done by an ancillary person-- audiologist -- who has to have a separate appointment with you. So you get two appointments. There are also two offices, one in Woodland and one in Davis and if you are get confused and go to the wrong place you'll be too late to make it to the other office and will have to make another appointment maybe a week later. Guess how I know. They do try to schedule you with the audiologist one hour before doctor at the same location so if everything goes smooth it's not a headache. So make sure you grasp not just WHEN but WHERE your appointment is, because if you google the phone number to get the appointment it's two layers, you get the referral service first who gets you on a separate call to the people who can actually tell you when and where your appointment is. And they might not remind you WHICH OFFICE your appointment is. It's definitely more clumsy than have a number getting you to a receptionist who directly looks things up. Zavod himself is great, obviously very smart, very polite but engaging with refined Old World manners. I guess the long time to get an appointment helps him from being overworked and burnt out. He takes time to thoroughly get your history and details, and the time to carefully and sympathetically explain everything. Other doctor's offices I've gone to have a crowded waiting room because they're doing a model where the MD spends the absolute minimum time to bill the service with you, tell you the general category of your diagnosis, and then the next patient is herded in. They are at best superficially genial and detached, and you can tell they are not really interested in medicine anymore. They aren't tuned into the nuances of your particular case which offer the opportunity to optimize treatment. Zavod's not like that, he seems to have his clinical curiosity and empathy intact. At one point I laughed when he was describing my moderately severe condition and he looked sort of shocked. I explained that the whole apparatus he was carefully explaining was sort of comical, and reassured him I took my condition seriously. He wanted me to take my case seriously because he himself did, which is a good ad for him. I only acted so weird because I'm sort of a Buddhist and the body is just a cloud floating by.

From the moment I arrived, the entire office was welcoming and attentive. One thing that really stood out to me was that no one made the visit feel rushed--something that unfortunately isn't always the case with medical appointments. Dr. Tollefson took the time to really talk through everything with me. He explained the situation clearly, went over the pros and cons of my options, and made sure I understood everything before making any decisions. I left the appointment feeling fully informed and completely comfortable with the path forward, which is exactly what you hope for when seeking a second opinion. There was also just a calm, thoughtful atmosphere during the visit. Instead of feeling like another quick appointment on the schedule, it felt like genuine care and attention were given to making sure I had all the knowledge I needed. Helpful tip: If you're looking for a second opinion on an ENT or facial surgery issue, come prepared with your questions. Dr. Tollefson really takes the time to answer them thoroughly. Finding a doctor who is both knowledgeable and willing to truly walk you through your options is rare, and I'm really grateful I found him. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I was sent to Dr. Tollefson not because I have insecurities or because im self conscious, but because I am my very own toughest critic. I can nitpick all day about things I notice on my face but are completely invisible to other people like Dr. Tollefson himself. What I wanted to have done, Dr. Tollefson refused to do because he's jus the type of person who wont do something he feels isn't important or beneficial. He could've easily agreed to everything and possibly botch my face but he told me he looks at patients as if they were a family member and if he'd want them to go through these procedures. What a kind man, you are mister Tollefson! So even though I didn't get anything done by him, I do have to say that I recommend him because he's honest, kind, and passionate about his work.

The hearing test that I was given was the most thorough that I have ever received from the previous 2 offices that I have visited. The M.A. who preceded the Dr. for vitals, health history, etc. was very attentive and kind. The Dr. took his time to evaluate my condition and I wasn't rushed. He holds a very compassionate interest and exemplifies the highest of standard in caring for his patients.

This office is a masterclass in poor communication and impossible expectations for patients…read more I am an established ENT patient who called needing to be seen urgently. I was told I couldn't be scheduled because there was "no referral on file" and that my previous referral had expired -- only to then be told that my prior referral was never sent at all, resulting in the doctor not being paid and supposedly "eating the cost." As a patient, I had no way of knowing this, was never informed at the time, and should never have been made aware of internal billing failures or financial consequences in the first place. That information was inappropriate to share and felt like an attempt to shift responsibility -- or guilt -- onto the patient. At my last visit, I wasn't actively having symptoms at that exact moment (because ENT issues are not something you can schedule on demand). The doctor seemed annoyed that I was even there, yet explicitly told me to call back when symptoms occurred, advocate to be seen urgently, and inform staff that he keeps openings -- even over lunch -- for this exact situation. When I followed those instructions, I was shut down by staff, told I needed a brand-new referral, informed the doctor would be out for two weeks, and offered a medication refill -- for medication I've never been prescribed because I can't get seen when the issue is actually happening. So to summarize: * I can't be seen without a referral * The referral process apparently isn't handled correctly * I'm told to come in only when symptomatic * Then told I can't come in when symptomatic * And somehow this is all the patient's problem The entire experience feels disorganized, dismissive, and borderline gaslighting. Patients should not be expected to navigate internal billing failures, referral errors, or be made aware of who did or didn't get paid just to receive basic care. I will not be returning.

The office has been through several transitions within the last few years since I first reviewed this practice. At this point, they are trying to streamline their process of doing allergy shots with technology for check-in, which is great. The main problem we have is that the office hours for the shot clinic keeps shrinking. Not only that, but the hours they keep are completely illogical for anyone who works. They close so early that anyone, with any commute time, will not be able to make the time frame before they close. My husband has one day that works for him to get into the shot clinic when they are open but the problem is, that is Monday and this office takes off every single holiday, which means many Monday's are out. One Monday, he rushed to the doctors office on his way home from work. He made it to the office with 3 minutes to closing. They saw him at the front door and wouldn't even let him in. It has been disappointing to have the office change so much. When we first started going there, it wasn't the most "professional" office per se, but the staff were incredibly friendly and it felt more like a family practice. It has turned into a very sterile, uninviting environment that doesn't work to accommodate its patients at all.
