The office itself, especially the waiting area is absolutely not considerate of family members, or others accompanying the patient. The waiting area is cold and unfriendly. Wait time is typically an hour or more, which is not the bad part. There are no accommodations for those waiting aside from a bathroom. I would suggest a drink station to at least include water. Most waiting areas I have been to, have a coffee and water station, and much better climate control. Guests of patients having surgery are asked to wait in the lobby, and not leave the premises - I understand the importance of this. However, I do not understand the lack of any effort to keep those waiting at even a minimal level of comfort. Please take this as constructive criticism and consider the needs of ALL of your customers, which does include family of your patients.

I came in for oral surgery and was clearly and concisely informed of all my options. Dr. Austin Gray, the oral surgeon, did an outstanding job educating me on things I didn't know, while also sharing interesting stories from his background as both an anesthesiologist and an oral surgeon. It's the evening of my surgery, and I'm amazed that I still feel no pain. The entire procedure was flawless from start to finish. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I liked Dr. Merrell, however his staff left a lot to be desired as far as taking responsibility on…read morean error they made on our dental insurance we used when Dr. Merrell pulled some back teeth on our then 17 year old. Before the surgery his staff said they had checked with our insurance to see if our insurance would pay for anesthesia and told us the insurance would cover it. Well, after the surgery we received a bill from Dr. Merrell charging us for 100% of the anesthesia. I called the insurance company and they told me Dr. Merrell's office had called for pre-approval for the surgery. The insurance company stated they approved the surgery, but did not approve the anesthesia. The insurance read back the notes they discussed with Dr. Merrells office and the notes clearly stated the anesthesia would not be covered. I can't remember why it wouldn't be covered, only that it wasn't covered. Dr. Merrells office apologized for the miscommunication, but ...oops, the patient still has to pay the bill. We also found out after the surgery, the doctor could have used a local and our daughter would not have had to be put under with the anesthesia. The anesthesia bill was around $600.00 if I remember corectly. We paid the bill because we didn't want it to go to a collection agency, but his office made the mistake and refused to do anything about it. They would not even reduce the amount of the bill. Lesson learned here, don't depend upon any doctors office to find out the pre-approval information, what insurance will and will not cover. Make the phone calls yourself. Then you have only yourself or the insurance company to blame for any errors. Because of how Dr. Merrells office handled this "error", if I know anyone who needs dental surgery, I tell them "Don't go to Merrell". He was a nice capable dentist/oral surgeon, but his staff left a lot to be desired in dealing with working with the patient for a costly error made by a member of his staff.

This office answered my call on June 2 and got me in at 10 am the next day (6.3.2025). I think the transition was easier since I was already established with Aspen. My insurance never covers the fluoride treatment that I always opt for. It was $22.95. It sucks that it is an hour and a half away from me. It sucks also that this office is not nearly updated and as modern as the Hobbs office was, but I'm very satisfied with the friendly, fast, and efficient service! I checked in a few minutes early and was out in less than a half hour. I'll be back in December unless something drastic happens yet again.

Dr. Clay can definitely fake it during your initial "consultation" but once he's got your money he is rude as all get out and truly doesn't care about his patients or their experience... I wouldn't take my dog there, and I will NEVER be going back... the ONLY silver lining to my experience, was the rest of the staff, they were amazing; kind and seemed to genuinely care. As I said before Dr. Clay treated me like a nuisance and was blatantly rude to the point of condescending and belittling. Also they have no answering service so good luck getting ahold of anyone after their "normal business hours". Their "normal" office hours are asinine at best, something like Monday Wednesday and Friday from 8:00am to noon, and Tuesdays & Thursdays 8:00 - 3:00... not real sure why they are like that but it certainly makes it difficult when it comes to making appointments... luckily I won't have to worry about that anymore!! Dr. Jenkins thoroughly explained what was wrong and what the plan was as far as the root canal. They numbed me up pretty well, they even let it sit for a few minutes so it could fully take effect! Usually dentists are pretty rushed, so this was a nice change of pace. As they were gearing up and starting, they would consistently ask me how I was doing, if I needed a bathroom break, and they would inform me of what step in the procedure they were! All in all, 10/10 care. Everyone was friendly, the Dr was patient and gentle, and I hardly felt a thing!

The assistants were extremely friendly and made sure I was comfortable; and Dr. Gilbert was not only cheerful and informational but EXTREMELY thorough. I'm terrified of dental work but he made the process bearable. He stopped anytime I needed a break, and was very attuned to any pain I felt. The office and rooms are very clean and hygienic as well. I don't know anyone that likes having dental work but if you need a root canal or the likes, I would recommend him every time.
