Me, I thought it was pretty meh. My brother-in-law said his daughters were pretty salty about a former ice rink getting turned into the museum here and from the vast amount of empty space on one side you can tell they were light on material and/or budget. The model of the fort was probably my favorite part but that only takes five or ten minutes tops. There is a number of very mediocre nature murals and models of period dwellings sometimes with cheap mannequins hanging out. It doesn't take long for a walkthrough. This place isn't exactly Greenfield Village. My brother-in-law got the attendants to give us a special screening of a short documentary made about the big battle of the War of 1812 that took place here. It was decent and this outing would have felt really underwhelming without it. I don't know what the usual schedule and criteria for screenings is. Not much of a national park as evidenced by the modest gift shop selling merchandise for larger and more well known national parks. The field itself is just that, a big ol field without so much as a hiking trail with historical markers. I'm glad we were able to pair this with the Michigan Museum of Horror for our Monroe expedition as I don't know if either, this especially, was worth the trip alone.

Visited years ago before they redid the Visitor Center- WOW- What a difference, they really outdid…read morethemselves with the displays, and the size of the museum. It is definitely a good place to take the Family on a hot or rainy day. It has a lot of space full of well done exhibits. We especially loved it as it ties in with our recent visit to Voyageurs National Park.

I have always loved ships. I've toured a handful of historic ships over the years. U.S.S…read more Constitution? Check. WWII submarine? Check. Mid-19th-century schooner? Check. Early 20th-century Great Lakes freighter? Hmm... So perhaps this ship does not have the romanticism or historical significance of the others. It is an impressive sight, quite long and stolid. In operation from 1911 to 1980, it was the largest freighter in the world when launched and set some cargo records during its first few years before being eclipsed by ever-advancing technology. It was also well known for luxury which supposedly rivalled the famous trans-Atlantic liners. Up to the modern day it is recognized as a relic of the so-called Golden Age of Great Lakes shipping, but although I respected its achievements, I couldn't quite conjure up the reverence and awe that it seemed to be asking for. Obviously the ship has seen better days, but it could be spiffier. Many spots need a buff with Rust-Away and a new paint job. In any case, this would be a fun place to take the kids, and frankly it's one of the few things worth doing or seeing in Toledo.

It's big, it's clean, easy off, easy back on the highway, you don't have to go to Monroe and you're no longer in Ohio, what's not to love? I usually end up here at night but if you're here in non-vampire hours there's an absolutely insane amount of travel brochures in a Hallmark store sized space built especially for them. I've even seen a show flyer here for a band playing at the Lager House in Detroit. I can't say that for any other rest stop. Great place to stretch my legs and pick up some caffeine for the last leg of my trip back home. The last time I wound up here was coming back from Columbus on New Year's Eve during a blizzard. I meant to be in Detroit to ring in the New Year but the snow slowed me up enough for me to know that wasn't going to happen. I honestly thought about staying at this rest stop for an extra twenty minutes here just to say I rang in 2025 here. I ultimately decided I'd be pretty bored and that I'd go on my weary way into the snowy night just to pass midnight on some random spot on I-75 but just the fact I even considered this wacky plan should speak to this being a really nice res, er, welcome center. I would definitely recommend this is a Place to read, work & introduce children to a love of libraries. The unfortunate downside is that most of the sitting space is for computers, as most of the patrons are using those- not books . The book section is very pop culture. Come here and read bc this place is classic.

I don't live in Toledo, OH, and have a non-borrowing card to use for the computers. That said you can check your electroic devices with the free wifi.

Way Public Library is such a cozy, welcoming space for all ages. I love sitting with a good book…read morewhile my daughter explores the toys and watches her surroundings. There's something so comforting about a place full of books--it instantly feels warm, even on a rainy day. As someone new to the area, I never felt out of place at all; finding books that fit my exact taste made me feel right at home.

Why is it when I ask for, and finally receive help, especially from younger employees, they seem to…read morehave this need to rub your nose in it, as if it's all your fault! Seems like there's a creepy streak in some employees of looking over your shoulder, too. This is why I quit public libraries after 2020 to now...maybe these spaces aren't welcome places anymore.

This community library is amazing. I didn't have access to my computer for a while, so I went to…read morethe library to type something out. Not being that familiar with their Dell computers, I asked for help (more than once). Everyone was amazing, and very helpful. Oh, and to print something out off the computer, it's only .15 a page (but if you are a library member- I think you get five free pages a day). For an amazing day, go to the library, then go take a walk around the Toledo Botanical Gardens. If it's hot, the library is air conditioned. If it's hot, walk through the shade garden, at the Toledo Botanical Gardens (the Gardens are free). I noticed that some adults had brought their children. While the adults did work on one computer, the children were set up on an adjoining one to play games, or look at interesting information. (There is also a coloring area for the kids, with paper and crayons). If you need to rest, or read something not too long, there is a fireplace at one end of the library, with comfortable chairs to read or just rest. We have some wonderful places to go in Toledo, that don't have an entry fee.
