Pirate used to be very good but the equipment is very worn out these days…read more I went for a drum session after a few years off the kit and the first studio I rented had a destroyed snare head. Their customer service (via WhatsApp) got me into another studio, upgraded size, free of charge. This one had clamps that wouldn't hold the toms, the screws were totally stripped out on the kick pedal and the whole kit would start falling apart midway through a song. They moved me to another room which was missing a bunch of equipment and had hi-hats for crash cymbals so I asked to be moved back to the previous. I was able to limp through on a few tracks but eventually the kick pedal wouldn't stay in place for longer than a verse or chorus and the rack toms were swinging around in their stripped clamps and the start/stop was making this really pointless. I asked for a 50% refund which I did NOT receive, they gave it back as credit towards next time. Here's the deal: I will be back because they're the best option nearby. Band rehearsal spaces are a tough business. The gear gets absolutely thrashed and maintenance takes both specialized knowledge, money, and care. It seems like their on-site manager either doesn't care, doesn't have the budget to fix things, or has no idea what they're doing. Pirate's the only option nearby that doesn't feel like I'm going to get robbed, stabbed, or tetanus. I'm going to start building up my own small gear to supplement what they can't seem to take care of (cymbals, snare, kick pedal) and hope the problems stop there.

As Hawai'i's worst Stand-Up Comedian and Los Angeles's worstest open-micer, I HIGHly recommend coming to Turd Wheel Minor Comedy Club, because it's simply a great place to train. They offer TWO(2) free open-mics at night. One at 8:00pm till 9:30pm (5 mins stage time)and one at 12:00am till 02:00am.(3 mins stage time) Sometimes its a hit or miss with audience/crowd/non-comedian's....BUT....if you still need stage time to work out your material, 1 out of 3 times, the host will be listening to your set, and not looking at their cell-phone's or talking to people who drop-in who "think" they are funny and special, but are more of a lower-level Stand-Up Comedian. (Its irritating to see these Comedians that think they are SUPER funny, and they haven't even performed at Flappers or Chateu Superior Comedy Clubs. Make sure to come 30 mins early though, cuz the sign-up sheet gets filled quick as they "normally/regularly" only allow 20 open-micer's. N e wayz, if you're from out of town, an audience member or a new-bie that wants to pursue Stand-Up Comedy, come to 3rd Wheel, where it's intimidating, but worth the stage time. **P.S. ....full disclosure, I'm funnier than everyone that works at Third Wheel.**

Brought this to the attention of the studio manager and his response was "Well no one else has complained about this". The manager also had their engineer open the door to give him equipment while we were in our recording session. However, the engineers were a delight to work with. Very accommodating and made sure the audio was captured to the best of their ability.

Sadly, I didn't use this space. So my review is on customer service alone…read more Venue-hunting for my wedding has been *extremely* frustrating. I have contacted over 100 event spaces at this point. Much like all but one venue I've heard from so far, BOXeight had a rental feel that exceeded my entire wedding budget. HOWEVER. Thomas responded to my contact immediately. I emailed around midnight, and he replied around 8am in the morning. He responded clearly with all the helpful information I asked for, and directly based on the information I provided in my email to the venue. And, the very first thing he did was congratulate me on my engagement, then he thanked me for taking the time to contact the venue. SO many venues have been cold, unhelpful, unprofessional, or completely unresponsive to my inquiries. At this point, not being able to afford a space is old news & expected. But, getting a prompt & helpful reply, is rare & fantastic. Kudos to Thomas & BOXeight. Thanks for not wasting my time & treating me like a human!

The…read moreentire experience was beyond my expectations and I couldn't have wished for a better way to celebrate it. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and filled with creativity. The setup was perfect and beautifully arranged with canvases ready for our class to paint. Autumn and her daughter were so kind to even offer to blow up some balloons for the birthday occasion. One of the other perks of this event was that you can bring whatever you want to eat and drink, which made the night even more special. My high school best friends went all out, catering my favorite Filipino dish, Pancit Palabok, alongside their own delicious culinary appetizers like steak crostini. Since I was celebrating such a milestone birthday, my friends from all walks of life contributed to the potluck feast. We also had Korean Kimbap, Greek hummus & chips, flaky Baklava, creamy Leche Flan, and so much more. The mix of flavors, cultures, and homemade dishes made the night feel even more personal and heartwarming. It was great coming back to Westwood Village which brought me instant memories while I was at UCLA. There is something definitely vibrant about Westwood Village and I love feeling its energy. I do have to give the biggest shoutout to the amazing owner, Autumn Flynn, who was so patient with all of us. She walked us through the step by step process of painting the "Inner Goddess within Ourselves," which made the experience so great. Her guidance and passion made the evening feel therapeutic and allowed everyones creativity shine in the most beautiful way.
