Steak Burrito
Mark M.

Jalisco Express has been my go to spot for a good burrito in the Oak Lawn area. I have been going here for years. I decided to call in an order and go with a steak burrito. Always someone on the other line whenever I call in. Steak burrito was ready in 5 mins for a quick in and out. I'm greeted whenever I come in and I always leave with plenty of sauces and peppers to pair with what I get. Very bright and lively inside with a menu you cannot miss!

Been ordering tacos for the last month and Jalisco has the best flavor among those we have tried. Fast service whenever we order for take out or dine in as well. Happy tummy

Chimichanga Burrito

If you're craving good Mexican food, you've got to check this place out. They have a window inside for ordering to-go and they also have a handful of tables inside for dine-in service. We called in a to-go order our first time trying the place and we have dined in twice since then. We walked in and sat down at one of the tables, and we were quickly greeted by our waitress. She brought out chips and salsa which were fresh and delicious. We ordered the steak nachos and the steak chimichanga burrito with a chile Relleno added inside. We also ordered a side of rice and beans. The service throughout our meal was excellent each time. The steak nachos (which we have ordered all 3 times) are scrumptious. They are fresh tortilla chips topped with steak, refried beans, cheese, avocado slices, and sour cream. They were so good we ate them all before I could snap a picture. The chimichanga burrito was also very tasty. The tortilla shell was perfectly crispy and the ingredients inside were fresh and delicious. The rice is flavored excellently and the steak is not fatty and grisly like I've found at other restaurants. We've been searching for a new spot for burritos and steak nachos as we moved pretty far away from our old favorite and this spot is everything we wanted and more. They're also open a lot later than most other restaurants around. I highly recommend checking this place out the next time you want high quality, fairly priced Mexican food.

I just ordered steak Fajita today. It was terrible. The service was terrible. I did not receive napkins or plastic utensils. The order was incomplete. I regret the 52.00 waisted on 2 fajitas dinners. The nasty lady at the register with thick dark lipstick was the most rude and disrespectful person I've ever encountered in a restaurant. I've never left a review for a business that washas absolutely no taste. Don't be fooled by all the color in the food. It's bland. Nasty. Over priced. I demanded a refund the man told me they don't work for free. They forgot my drinks and didn't apologize. They acted annoyed. They don't give salad or avocado you have to ASK for it like. Online it says 14.99 lunch he charged 19.99 He said it was a fake page. Which is a lie. Never eat this fake dirty disgusting over priced filth. Trust me.

Burrito!!

It could have been the hour but OMG the burritos, tacos, guacamole, chips, salsas, and veggies are the bomb! Authentic and love that you can get a bottled Mexican coke!

Chicken taco, Al Pastor, steak

All tacos were delicious and flavorful! Service was top tier. A must try if your in the area, it's much better than any other place I've visited. Doesn't look like much, but the ambiance is great inside.

Taco salad in the tortilla bowl was very good and filling. My only complaint would be that the tortilla bowl was not crispy at all!

For me this is a good burrito and quesadilla dinner spot, that's usually what I order to go, good portion and no long wait.

It's a burrito/taco place, it's not bad, but it's not always good. The service is okay. That's really about all I can say.

La Cocina De Mama is one of the popular places to drink and eat along this particular stretch. Far from authentic. They focus more on look and taste. Came in and got seats at the bar. It's often crowded and this time was no exception. There was a wait for a table. Of course cocktails. We got a couple of these. It's about $13 for a margarita. The Cucumber Margarita is great stuff. It's about $12 for a burrito. Menu has a good amount to choose from. I got the Vegetariano Burrito. This has beans, cheese which I left off, lettuce, rice, and tomatoes. Filling. There's even more items if looking. Great stuff to drink and eat. It's located on 95th Street at Massasoit. There's a few things for vegetarians.

We arrived around 4 pm and there was about a 25 minute wait. It is cozy so there were people waiting outside. The decor is more modern than traditional. They have a bar and TVs. Staff are warm and friendly and our server was Dulce. It was a busy day yet she would periodically check in to see how we were doing. We ordered the table side guacamole. It was made fresh at our table and hubby added a little more salt to it. We were also served a small bowl of salsa. The chips are warm and fresh. Hubby ordered the combo fajitas and a strawberry margarita. I ordered the steak enchiladas rojas and a pina colada. Everything was seasoned well and we enjoyed our meals. Kudos to the bartender for making great drinks!

I got the Fish Dinner Tacos ($25), and my husband got Flautas de Papa ($18). I was eyeballing their Pozole or Menudo but didn't really want to pay $22 for a bowl of soup. Everything on the menu just felt too expensive, especially for being in a casual atmosphere outside the city. Quesadilla La Reina del Sur has a plethora of vegan tacos you can get for like $4 each. I was in the mood for dessert, but even something as simple as 2 cookies with milk would be $24, so we went elsewhere. The food was fine, and the service was fairly attentive, but nothing blew me out of the water for these prices. They also added a 3.5% fee to the bill.

I loved that we were given some recommendations on favorite dishes. -The vegan calamari (made with cocunut meat) was perfect: breaded just right and crisp. -The Fresca (watermelon & cayenne ) was perfect. 3.5 stars for: Our main entrees lacked seasoning. I was really surprised by this. Both of our dishes were extremely light on any seasoning. We both decided to take the rest home to add some garlic/ chiles/ sea salt ... maybe? However the presentation was appealing, food tasted really fresh and cooked right. We spent approx $160... that's including the 20 % tip and tax.

A Hidden Gem with Delicious Food and Wonderful Service!…read more We stopped in simply because the exterior of the restaurant caught our attention, and we are so glad we did! When we arrived, our server let us know that he was the only one working the dining room. Naturally, we were a little concerned about the kind of service we might receive. However, he quickly put those worries to rest! He was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. Now, let's talk about the FOOD! My daughter ordered rice and flautas, my husband had the red enchiladas, and I enjoyed the chicken fajitas. Everything was absolutely delicious! One thing I especially appreciate about authentic Mexican food is the care and attention given to the entire plate--not just the main dish. Rice and beans should have just as much flavor and love put into them as the entrée itself. Too often, side dishes feel like an afterthought, but that is certainly not the case here. Every bite was flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and delicious! This restaurant truly delivers on both food and hospitality. What started as a spontaneous stop turned into a wonderful family dining experience. We will absolutely be back!

The owner was walking around greeting tables while we were dining, which was really nice to see and added a personal touch that you don't often get at locally owned restaurants. The menu offers plenty of options, and while the food was okay, it was a bit bland for my taste. My boyfriend, however, really enjoyed the carne asada. The drinks were definitely the highlight of our visit and are reason enough to come back. I'd recommend this spot to anyone looking for a fun place with great drinks, a welcoming atmosphere, and friendly service.
