I ordered the chicken enchiladas with red sauce: maybe red sauce was a bit bland but I just added the salsa to it which new was killer! The salsa they give you is amazing. Ordered chicken fajitas to go but was given chicken tacos instead. Just as I got home a person from the restaurant called to say there was a mixup because there were orders for 2 Kristens and we were given the wrong one. My credit card was originally charged $21.40 for the fajitas. The restaurant did adjust the charge to $14.98, the cost of the chicken tacos. The bottom line is that we paid for tacos we didn't want and quite frankly were mediocre at best. If I were the manager I would've voided the charge. I have been going to Jalapenos for 18 years and hands down it is the best Mexican Restaurant in the area. I visit Jalapenos 2 to 3 times a month and I am impressed with their consistency in both their customer service, the quality and taste of their food. They have several staff who have been there for 24 years which adds to the consistency of the product they put out. I have had just about everything on the menu and truly enjoy the variety of their menu. If you want the best waiter in NW Indiana, ask for Phillipe. 2 of my favorite dishes are the Mar Y Tierra and Jaime's tacos. My favorite appetizer is the Steak Fundido. My Husband and I came in for an early dinner..The food ok. I decided to surprise my Son with dinner as well. I ordered him the same thing I had ordered which was the fajita skillet. Before leaving I checked my to go order and it did not have any fajita sauce for the fajitas..i asked the waitress if I could have some with my to go order she stated it would be an additional 3.00. I then asked to speak with the manager considering I had just spent over 20.00 dollars for a fajitas dinner..why would I have to pay an additional 3.00 fajitas sauce. The manger literally argued with me about fajita sauce insisting the dinner does not come with fajita sauce there would be an additional charge which did not make sense to me I have never been to an Mexican restaurant and they did not give you taco sauce with your order..free of charge. Mind you I had just spent over 100.00 plus a 18% gratuity that's automatically added to a bill. The Manger's was very rude and does not have a concern for the customer's. This is not a hot spot. The food sucks the meat is Chunky and slimy. I couldn't tell what type of meat it was from chicken to pork . And always check your bill because they will over charge you . I've been coming here for years and have for the most part enjoyed the service. Lately, this has not been the case. Slow and often distracted. Occasionally they make me feel rushed. The atmosphere is mostly bright, but the restaurant and bar are consistently under-cleaned. Not surface dirty, but rather the lack of deep cleaning. Walls have food stains and often sticky. This is the main contributor to my review. I loath a dirty restaurant, followed by service and then food quality. Food is last because thousands of restaurants have great food, it's cleaning and service that separates them. They have decent drinks, chips are often flat. Food really depends on what you order. Not a huge fan of anything other than the Vista Del Mar (they've shown this as a new item for 10 years :-) ). It is, in my opinion the best item on the menu. The food was not hot ... the corn was soggy and the management Carlos..is concerned about quantity over quality and there is no one higher to complain to. WOW, myself, family and out-of-town guests recently and in the past have always had a great dining experience at Jalapeños! Coming out of the social distancing restrictions has proven to be a challenge for me and many of my regular stomping grounds .... favorite restaurants, specialty shops even my regular hair salon. These folks have struggled and are opening up to serve Customers with many NEW procedures and new or existing employees that did not have the privilege of working from home and getting paid. As a minority person myself, I stand behind ALL LIVES MATTER, I choose to error on the side of giving EVERYONE some slack as we return to the new ways and evolving norms of the world! While a bit slower than the norm, my recent visit was extremely FAVORABLE given the extreme caution and distancing I've invested in recent months to keep my family safe! Seating was quick. Restaurant seemed kind of empty considering the parking lot was almost full. Our waitress was extremely rude and inattentive we got our appetizer and she didn't bring us any silverware, got our food still no silver ware no refills on our drinks. When she came to our table to finally bring the silverware she didn't even ask how we were doing didn't ask if we needed a refill. Besides the terrible service the tortillas for my shrimp tacos were undercooked and everything was pretty tasteless. Overall we did not have a great experience and unfortunately will not be back. The food was excellent. However, my wife and I are huge advocates of good customer service. In our hour long visit, we ordered 3 appetizers and 1 main course. We saw our waitress a grand total of 3 times: When she seated us, when she brought our appetizers and then our main course. She did not check to see if we needed refills (in an hourlong visit...ridiculous) The restaurant was pretty much empty...and slow, so she had no excuse. We actually thought she went on break! We will NOT be dining in at this restaurant again in the forseeable future! Update: The manager on duty at the time, Isabel, was kind enough to call within 10 minutes of us leaving our complaint. She apologized for the bad service and even comped us a couple of free drinks from the bar if we came back. That was a great way to follow up and attempt to rectify the situation Isabel! Kudos. The server got all of our food orders wrong and we mentioned it to the manager. The manager comes out and yells at us and tells us he's calling the police and to leave because we stated that the food was dry and wrong. He should not be in a manager position without the ability to problem solve without yelling and calling us names in Spanish. read more

We went here for my sister in law's birthday. Walking up, there was trash on the ground, and even a beer sitting on the fence post that was there so long it was frozen solid. Don't look up in the foyer, or you will see the dry way deteriorating and the tape falling off of the joints. They don't seem to have lack of business, despite having the most disgusting chile relleno I've ever had the displeasure of eating. It seems they are just milking every ounce of profit that they can without reinvesting or maintaining the property or caring about the quality of their product. I pass by Jalapeño's a lot. I finally got a chance to try it out. The food was decent... Nothing to write home to mother but it was ok. I've had better Mexican food at a fast food restaurant. I had the chicken tacos with Spanish rice & beans. The tacos were ok. I was given an ample amount. Very filling. The rice was dry & I didn't eat the beans. The customer service was good. The server was attentive. She checked on our table enough where I didn't have to look for her if I needed something. Upon arriving, we hadn't sat down for 20 seconds before someone came to the table with salsa and chips...which by the way was excellent. The salsa was spicy, the way I like it. This restaurant has a really strict policy where they won't seat you unless your full party is available. We went with a party of four and two of us arrived early intending to get appetizers and drinks until the other two arrived. Because of their policy, they missed out on the money we would have spent on alcohol and appetizers. Plus the table for four and the table for two are the same size. It wouldn't have made any difference where they seated us. And the kicker is that the entire time we were waiting we watched nine tables remain empty. We asked a bus-girl who delivered our food to us to bring us peppers and she told me that I had to ask my waitress. Another server who was a young man with locks in his hair was nice enough to assist us. My husband asked the young man to get the manager but the manager never came out. When we inquired about where the manager was the young man told us that he was busy so it's no wonder their customer service was so bad! We Will not go back, unfortunately we traveled 35 minutes. Actually, It was really good, but we would rather visit on a night without the live band. The acoustics are terrible and it was super loud. Had the worst experience I ordered a steak taco dinner and it literally tasted it like ground beef I didn't wanna make the extra drive by going to EC for some good tacos and I thought that this was a really good place and I guess I thought wrong I also ordered a shrimp cocktail and there was literally like five pieces of shrimp and nothing but watered down tomato juice I am very disappointed... and my husbands Carna Asada was full of fat. My girlfriend ordered shrimp quesadillas and they were cold. She sent them back and they returned only slightly warmer. It was as though they'd been put under the warmer for a few minutes instead of being made fresh. I ordered a chimichanga and it was soggy instead of crisp. It was a busy night but that was no excuse.
