Strawberry Margaritas were the best and only $5 on a Saturday, I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail ($10.99) and the Monterrey platter ( $17.99 grilled chicken, carne asada,carnitas,shrimp and rice & beans and tortillas on the side ). Came for the first time & it was decent food. Not fantastic but pretty good Mexican food. I was disappointed the most with our waiter. We waited numerous times for him to come back to attend to us. There were 3 of us & the table next to us had 6..they got there about 25 minutes after us & got their food before us! Not to mention I got 3 different margaritas & they were all pretty weak. We have been going to Jalapenos for years, and it has usually been a good experience, but tonight was a disappointment. I ordered my favorite, the seafood enchiladas, and they were not up to par. The enchiladas are usually chock full of shrimp, as well as basa. Tonight there were only 2 shrimp in the enchilada. The dish was served with the wrong sides: I got Spanish rice and refried beans instead of the white rice and fruit listed on the menu (which I have had previously and enjoy). The waitress did bring me the white rice after I asked for it, but she never asked if our food was okay, and there was no one at the front desk when we left; otherwise, I would have complained in person. Visited Sunday night for a couple of beers and appetizers. After initially being greeted warmly at the bar, the service turned cold after three guests who appeared to be friends arrived. After that, we were ignored. The bartender walked past my empty beer numerous times. At one point, a "friend" customer called her a whore and she retorted that she'd been called worse by a bigger bitch. After a couple of f-bombs by the same man, she reminded him that it was a family establishment. Given that there are newer and numerous restaurants in this area, Jalapeno's really needs to step up their game in terms of service and decor. I went in for the lunch special pick 2 items that come with rice and refried beans along with your choice of side salad or tortilla soup for $5.99 very good deal. Went there yesterday because we live within walking distance of the establishment, and wanted to get a little "over-served". Started off with two of the Margarita specials (Blue Iguanas), and then the waitress disappeared. In fact, the next time we saw our actual waitress was after we finished our meal. She asked if we wanted more drinks, and I said I want a "Peach' margarita. She came back with another Blue Iguana-which wasn't a big deal, until we got the bill and saw we got charged for a Peach Margarita. When I brought it to the attention of our waitress, she insisted that it was a Peach margarita (despite the margarita being a green color, when peach margaritas are PEACH in color). I just wanted the $3 difference taken off my bill, which she seemed unwilling to do. She did ask if she could have the drink remade. I said that was fine (I repeat, I just wanted a $3 refund), and when she returned, the drink was 100% peach margarita mix. No alcohol whatsoever. Admittedly, this is the absolute worst service we've had at this establishment, and it will be a LONG time before we return. My brother lives right down the street and anytime I make it back home from Arizona we usually have at least one lunch there. It's not bad or good. Based on his recommendation I got the Bistec Ranchero the last time, which was actually really nice. Previously I had tried a couple burritos. Again, nothing special. This was my first dining experience here. I have been here during the "club" hours but not for dining. My friend and I wanted to eat somewhere with a patio so we chose to come here. We were immediately seated in the patio but it took 5 minutes for us to be acknowledged by our server #39 on receipt There were a total of 10 tables in the entire place. When she finally arrived she wasn't pleasant at all there wasn't any "Hi! How are you doing today?" or any greeting at all. She just said are you ready and that's it. We ordered our meal and asked about their craft beer selection which she said they had none and walked away. We wanted to order a drink and waited another 5 mins but she never returned to the table. My friend went inside to ask the bartender a question and saw the server just sitting at a table talking not doing anything. My friend said she wanted to order a drink and the server said she would be outside but took another 5 minutes and when she would drop anything off she would immediately turn and leave not allowing us to ask for refills,sour cream, or hot sauce. It generally takes a lot to make me mad since I have worked in the service industry for over 10 years but the server didn't even say "Thank You" when we paid her. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because the hostesses were very nice and welcoming. One even said goodbye as she was leaving for the day. I unfortunately will not be returning here ever. I love patio dining but can't stand being neglected and having a ride server. It would have been nice if a manager was in sight or even was seeing how the guests were. I have always loved this place. I lived in Chicago and had access to the best Mexican food at the drop of a dime. After we moved to Indiana it was hard to find a good place. Then I came across Jalapeños...the food is phenomenal. It's like a Lalo's in terms of music, atmosphere, and Margaritas, BUT BETTER FOOD!!! I'm from the Dallas/Fort Worth area and was in town to celebrate a family event. My group of eleven went to Jalapenos on Monday, June 6 around 7pm. It was slow, we were seated immediately. My boyfriend nor I will be visiting again any time soon. We've been here twice maybe the past 3 months. The first time we walked in & were greeted very rude by a server & hostess, they made us stand there for maybe a few minutes looking at us before we were sat. By the time we we're say there was no reason it should have taken so long because it was dead. & coming from someone who is a server I know of somebody is off shift they can transfer their table to the closer. It took a great while before we were finally greeted by our server. His service was horrible. Once we got our food & were eating we were never once asked by our server how our food was or anything. My boyfriend was sitting with an empty soda while our server walks past us & can clearly see cause we see him glance at us. It took us to stop him on one of his passings to ask for a refill. Our service there was basically drink order, food order, bill then he collected the money. Our second time which was just the other day it was even worse! Our server sees us as we got sat but he's sitting in the booth behind us talking to another co worker or his table. Then as about 10 minutes goes by he says I didn't see you guys in sorry. Okay, understandable I guess. You get carried away in conversation. Cool. Understandable. We never got his name nor told us specials. But every table after us that came in he tells the specials to. What made us any different?! As well as our previous experience we were not checked on to see if everything was tasting okay or anything. But once again my boyfriend is sitting with an empty cup 1/2 into our meal, & once again we had to stop our server to ask for a refill. Then he returns ten minutes later with his drink. When we go to pay for our bill he charger is correctly. But later on as I check my bank account I was charged not only my bill but as well as another charge for $68! I call & the manager tells me that it was comped off. Once again I'm a server, I understand that happens. But I at least have the decency to tell my tables my mistake. I was never aware what he did or received a voided receipt for it off my card. He just gave us our bill & that was it. & as soon as we stood up he took the checkbook. Now I'm again going from my reference as a server but you don't do that. You wait until your table is gone before grabbing the check book or take it if they hand it to you. Then he never said thank you. Or anything. Maybe that's just me. I don't expect perfect service but I don't expect bad service either. I ask to be checked on at least once twice tops. He felt "Rushed" and the manager didn't help to make situation any better, he felt overlooked. The manager felt the dining customers were more important. Horrible service!!! The woman bussing our table spilled an entire glass of ice water on our one month old baby. Our diaper bag and my purse were drenched. They threw us a couple dish rags and said we could take them home. They didn't even aknowledge their mistake or apologize. To top it all off our food came out to us cold. As for management Ryan, your emloyees should be trained to inform you of these slip ups and not let the patrons leave angry.
