Due to a kitchen fire at their brick and mortar last year, this truck is meant to hold them over till they can finally get the repairs done. The short answer is the food doesn't hit the same but I think their popularity and the limited Mexican scene in BR should be enough for them to carry on. Their quesabirria ($15) is still their biggest claim to fame. While it's not in the same breath as their previous location, I still appreciate that the tortillas and cheese are crispy, even if the consome (#2) was a bit light in flavor. I was a little less than impressed with the asada, carnitas, and chicharron tacos, which were a bit on the dry side, but the presentation was on point Prices are up everywhere, but at $3.50-$3.75 a taco it is a lot pricier here than other cities with a more significant Mexican presence. Couple that with burritos, tortas, and quesadillas in the $14-17.50 range, along with their signature chivo plate at $22, the desire to go hard with the orders become more somewhat limited. At least credit card is accepted. The service is friendly and the son who oversees everything seems to have a handle with the customer service. They do run out of things occasionally and are active on social media with their open/close status and location(s). The service was really friendly and fast. The first thing in the menu is Mexican hot dogs! There are three on the list (wish I had taken a pic of the menu) and they all start with a hot dog wrapped in bacon. If you are trying to eat healthy, this may not be the truck for you, maybe save for some of the tacos. A special was being offered, buy more than 3 tacos and the price is $3/taco instead of 4. That hooked me in so I decided to try the 4 different meats advertised on the menu--chicken, steak, pork and chorizo. There was another chicken Chipotle special that wasn't on the menu but there is no way I could eat 5 tacos, not even sure 4 is a good idea. The verdict on the tacos: These are so full of flavor! If I had a negative about one is the chorizo is a bit greasy but it tasted fantastic. My favorite was the pork (al pastor) with pineapple. I was asked if I wanted pineapple so you can definitely get it without. Like most of these tacos, they were served with onions and cilantro, with the option to have fresh or grilled onions. I like lime and my wedge was tiny so I'd probably ask for more. The salsa verde was on point. If you like tacos, or hot dogs, or Mexican, I don't think you'll be disappointed with this truck.
