To this day, I have never had a problem with my fistula. After surgery, he gave me his personal cell number and told me that if I ever had issues with my fistula, to call him a.s.a.p. The techs at my dialysis center had issues with my fistula and wanted me to go to a clinic to have it serviced, Dr. Shao insisted that if this came up to call him. He has a great staff of doctors and nurses to help with these issues. Twice I had to see them only to find out that I did not need my fistula serviced. Thank god too because it is a painful procedure. Bottom line: Dr. Michael Shao cares about his patients, his work and what occurs after surgery. I would recommend him to everyone.

My husband had treatment at his previous location on Western Ave. I started my preventative treatment for varicose veins at the new Irving Park location. The new location is beautifully appointed in a modern mid-century minimalist style. There's a parking lot for free parking. There's a fully stocked Keurig coffee/tea machine and two comfy stylish lounge areas. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. Dr. Sunje is so friendly and nice! I know I am good hands in his care. (I don't know what that previous 1 star reviewer is saying... Anyways it's common sense to delay treatment of veins if you are trying/ or are pregnant.) I also have seen Dr.Chan and he is a great and friendly doctor as well. I have had two procedures here: ultra sound guided laser and schlero therapy. I have already noticed an improvement in both legs in terms of circulation. This office also has a cosmetic side: Cosmetic Institute of Chicago They have great facials! They always greet me warmly, and keep me up to date on the process. The procedures themselves are not that big of a deal. You get an ultrasound of your legs, and they make a plan to treat your veins. They are very good at explaining what is going to happen. There were a few pain twinges, but they were brief and mild. Right after the procedure they have you walk on a treadmill, and then you can simply drive yourself home. Amazing! They helped work with my insurance company. Made an appointment the same morning for 2 hours later at Loop Medical in Streeterville through a very user-friendly website and was taken immediately when I arrived, in and out in 10 minutes. No referral needed which usually isn't the case at hospitals. Test was self-administered user direct guidance. Had my negative result same day within 10 hours through the patient portal. I purchased a groupon for four sclerotherapy spider-vein injections for $169. I was super happy…read morewith the results. My 60+ year old legs really needed a touchup. After the first treatment (which took 3 of the injections) 80% of my veins were no longer visible. I recently went back for a touch up and my legs look fantastic. A couple of things you need to know: 1. Don't take aspirin or any other blood thinners about 2 weeks before (reduces swelling and bruising). 2. They use super small needles so no anesthetic is needed or used. It stings a little but not bad. 3. They sell compression stockings there or you can buy your own and bring (this was the hardest part as I had not worn stocking in over 15 years). You have to wear them the first 48 hours then daily for 2 weeks. So might want to do this in cooler weather. 4. After the procedure your legs look perfect - but then they bruise and the veins they inject look brown. This lasts about 4 weeks. I just wore long pants during this time. This is a new location so you can get better deals while they build their business. All staff were super nice and professional, office was clean. Very happy customer!
