Before I get to my review I will say this is the first time ever I had such a phenomenally bad…read moreexperience with a doctor's office that I lost my temper and was screaming. The sheer level of incompetence displayed by the staff of iOrtho is so unbearable, that I decided that I will go elsewhere. Dr. Desir is a competent, educated, and caring physician who tries to help with a smile. The personnel on the 2nd floor are GOLD STARS. Everyone is super friendly, polite, caring, and wonderful individuals. The personnel on the "C" level are exact polar opposites. Unfortunately, I had a form I needed to be filled out and was told it would be gratis. The "communications manager" who is a seriously non-friendly person told me it was $25 and takes 7-10 days. 7-10 days? For what? To sign and date a form and print medical history? Eh, I thought and paid it, this was 7-7-22. Fast forward to today, 7-18-22, the form was not only not filled out, but was not even started until I raised the issue of just why it was taking so long. I was told 30 mins to wait. I left and came back and still it's not ready. At this point, I just could not take this level of incompetence any longer. I charged in and just wanted my form back. The person was scanning and I told them to stop and give me my form and my $25 back. I finally got my form and to my horror, all they did was fill out the name, address, and license # of the doctor and print a double-sided history form. If you absolutely must see the terrific doctors, DO NOT go to the iOrtho in Staten Island, they are incompetent. EDIT: 7/21/2022: In retrospect, I should have given a piece of my mind to the communications manager in private for dragging her feet over a simple form. I find it absolutely amusing that you have the audacity to attack me over reviews I posted when your business has received dozens of negative and very harsh reviews. Pot calling the kettle??? Oh, and the medical records, you can mail them to me. I will send you a release form in short order and a prepaid envelope so you can send those records over. I don't want you doing anymore "favors." primum non nocere.

Dr. Armin Tehrany of Manhattan Orthopedic Care (MOC) repaired both my shoulders, four months apart,…read morein 2020. My shoulders had deteriorated over a period of years. By the time they became unbearable, each needed nearly everything fixed; labrum, rotator cuff, bicep tenodesis, bone spurs, arthritis, etc., souvenirs of decades of weight training and as a police dog handler. In my late forties, my normal routine of five days of running, or lifting in the gym became four, then two, then none. Training with the dogs, my job and my passion, became an ordeal to be endured. My sleep was affected. I had constant pain, even at rest. I was referred to Dr. Tehrany by my regular doctor, and soon discovered that he is especially supportive of first responders. As I contemplated surgery I heard from the usual doomsayers: "Don't do it!" "You'll never be right!" "I know a guy who..." I am so glad that I didn't listen to them. The doctor's reputation, his philosophy, and his people gave me the confidence to move forward. Their plan wasn't just to relieve my pain, it was to give me back full function, the ability to get strong again, and to do all the things I like to do. I visited the Staten Island office. The staff there was always great. They made scheduling the surgeries a breeze. Billing was never a problem, and MOC accepted my insurance without issue. Office personnel were friendly, and responsive. Appointments were always timely. Dr. Tehrany's medical team is exceptional. He, along with his surgical PAs and anesthesiologist, practice as a unit to ensure consistency and high standards. Of special note is Physician Associate Tim Lopresti. Tim became my go-to guy, always available and happy to answer my questions, and follow my progress. Both surgeries were performed at surgical centers in Manhattan. The care I received at each was top notch, compassionate and efficient. The toughest part was three weeks in an immobilizing sling after each surgery. That seems to be universally agreed, among shoulder surgery patients. Through it all, I never needed any post-operative pain medication. Of course MOC checked on me and made sure that I was comfortable. Dr. Tehrany's post-surgical strategy is to get you into physical therapy almost immediately, within just a few days. His office recommended a PT provider, and they were terrific. As a result, only four months after the surgery on my right shoulder, I was ready to fix the left. The first experience naturally left me better prepared for the second. Once again, the surgery was completely successful. I went right back to physical therapy. As before, the MOC office staff handled the billing and administration without a hitch. Tim Lopresti stuck by me throughout my rehab. The plan was to give me my life back, and Dr. Armin Tehrany, PA Tim Lopresti and the entire team at Manhattan Orthopedic Care did just that. I will always be grateful.

Despite being admitted, we were placed in a room outside the hallway, directly in front of the bathroom, where numerous patients walked by, coughing and sneezing. I repeatedly requested a room change from various nurses, but they claimed everyone was in critical condition, and it wasn't possible. When the Physician Assistant (PA) examined my baby, she seemed uninterested and dismissive. I had to ask her to perform basic checks and even request an ice pack, as no one offered assistance. When I inquired about a CT scan, she initially said it wasn't necessary, despite that being the primary reason for our visit. When I asked what she could do for my baby, she replied, 'Nothing.' As I prepared to leave, the PA asked if I wanted a discharge. I requested time to consult with my husband , but when she returned 15-20 minutes later, she refused to let us go. She claimed it was because the room behind us wasn't ready, despite the previous patient having just left and the bed being quickly changed without proper sanitization. When I asked her to sanitize the room, she bluntly said, 'No, this is emergency room and it is the best we can do. I was scared for not fully vaccinated newborn baby, so I took him home and I watch out for my baby myself. Mom should never go through this. They saw a black woman distressed with her newborn baby I am sure that was their negligence and being racist towards me. I advise everyone to go to the other hospital nearby. My bed image is attached.

Theirs always something peaceful about being with your own people! So I travel & waste a lot of time just to get my therapy . I wanna mention one thing that they have a separate room for ladies if you don't feel comfortable getting therapy outside . Altho at first they said it will be totally ok for me to get therapy inside. But on my third day the lady was complaining about it saying oh she needs to check up on other patients & it's easier to do it outside . If that's the case why you have a private room on the first place. Also the days are going by & therapy time is getting less & less. At this point I feel like I should find another place . After all this hassle it takes me to get here , I feel like it's not worth it ! Another thing which I was very surprised that no Dr has seen me yet & didn't done any imagine on me. How can you start my therapy before even finding out what's wrong with me . It just doesn't make any sense , I really expected more from them! Kinda heartbroken now!
