I've had multiple spinal fusions over the years related from two separate car accidents. Each time treated a different part of my lower back. In 2022, I had a male therapist who worked with me closely and adjusted my exercises and weights as i progressed. Towards the end of my program, this was just post COVID where we still wore masks, I had difficulty breathing on two days back to back. The second day, they insisted that I go straight to the hospital and after spending 3 days in Winthrop, I had a stent for an 85% blockage in the widowmaker. They saved my life. Unfortunately, years later, after I was struck from behind while stopped at a traffic light, I had to have an additional lumbar spinal fusion as well as a laminectomy. Most recently, I had the pleasure of working with Christian in East Meadow stars. We started a month after surgery and I went for 3 months. He started working with me with stretches and light weights while progressing each visit. By the time my 12 weeks were up, I was much stronger, had better stability and the knowledge to continue at home. Stars was by far, the most involved PT facility with updated equipment, a clean facility and great hands on care. I hope I won't ever need physical therapy in the future but out of the 8 to 10 facilities I've gone too over a 14 year period, stars was by far the best. They will remain my number one choice and I highly recommend them at least for all spinal rehabilitation needs. Thank you Christian Pineda as well as the rest of the therapists there.

The care team here is patient, kind, reliable, caring and understanding. The doctors accommodate my special needs by extending my appointment times to 30 minutes when needed. One experience especially stood out to me. I passed out at the reception area, and another patient immediately called for help. The nurse and nurse practitioner immediately came out, helped me onto an exam table, and stayed with me until I fully regained consciousness. They showed genuine concern for patients safety and well-being, and the nurse practitioner even escorted me out to the parking lot afterward. That level of compassion and attentiveness meant a lot to me. I have had very different experiences in the past at Charles B Wang Community Health Center, an Asian clinic, and that's one of the reasons I decided to move my care to NYU Langone. Here I feel safe, respected, supported and taken seriously as a patient. About 90% of the patients here are White, 2% Asian, 5% Hispanic, and 3% African American. Around 70% were born in the USA and came to the U.S. before age 12, 80% came from highly educated families, and 70% are financially well off. I am pleased with the quality of care here and feel comfortable coming here. Even though I am always the only Asian person here, I felt welcomed, safe, respected, and supported, especially as a person with a disability in that environment. It's just 10 minutes from my house off the parkway and there is plenty of access getting here. One very large parking lot easily accommodated all the folks inside. It is BIG... and old Waldbaums supermarket. Inside it is a large bright welcoming facility. Four doors as you walk in. Two on left and two on right. Depending on the type of medicine you need you go through your assigned door. They have a very long counter with many team members to check you in and prep you. We sat for a few minutes until my wife was called in. She loved her new doctor (Orthopaedics) and was given a shot and a prescription. She was very comfortable with the quality of her car throughout. This all went very smoothly and we were on our way out. These new facilities are the future of medicine and it looks like it's taking a positive step forward.
