I'm not really sure I have anything good to say here.
Last year I developed an infection in the gums around my wisdom teeth. I don't have insurance so I don't go to a dentist regularly unless I absolutely need to. After taking xrays and looking at my tooth she told me my wisdom tooth needs to come out because it was impacted and would keep getting infected. So far so good.
Then, she tells me my tooth is super close to the nerve. And I quote "there is a high chance you will get facial paralysis" from the nerve getting damaged because of its proximity to the tooth roots during the extraction. She didn't use the word "parasthesia" which would have been more appropriate, not really sure what she meant by paralysis??? She prescribed me some antibiotics for the infection and referred me to an oral surgeon (on reading his reviews left me feeling more anxious about the nerve damage). Never once did she alleviate my fears or concerns or tell me about my options, or treatment plan or recovery, in fact I felt extremely despondent and desolate after that appointment. I had to ask her what are my options and get this she said and I QUOTE, "Oh we can go back 5 years and take it out then" .... My last appointment with her was actually 3 years ago at which point she failed to mention this or follow up with me. Also what kind of comment is that from a professional? To this day I do not understand what the point was of that comment since we can;t obviously go back in time, unless she has been working on that versus doing her actual job of being a dentist.
Definitely think its time to change dentists as I will NEVER ever go back to her. And strongly recommend you don't go to her as well. Well you can make a decision accordingly based on my experience.
I never went to the surgeon she recommended, but went to another one based on my own research, and I had a really great dental experience after that. I never went back to her.
