I thought I would shop local because I figured they would need the business but I felt like I got the business. The parts I needed were basic carb rebuild parts for a McLane Briggs & Stratton 3 HP 4 Cycle edger (Model 80202 with a rewind starter) Fuel Tank Gasket-272409S, Intake Gasket-27355S, Fuel Diaphram-270026, and Idle mix washer(copper)270978. Some of the parts they had and the Intake gasket & Washer they did not have. It took at least 15 minutes ( I could have shelved their whole inventory by that time). They charged $10.00 freight charge for 1 gasket and 1 washer probably from Briggs & Stratton in Bell Gardens, CA (5 hour drive). Also they charged me $0.95 for using my credit card. NO signs, NO info from clerk. It was only on the credit card machine receipt. This is shady as it is required by the state to have some kind of notice or sign, beyond it being on the already paid receipt. They have plenty of signs about all their other charges ($95/HR labor charge & $15 Restocking fee). You are better off getting the part numbers, and ordering from Briggs & Stratton, on your own, or buying from Amazon. (You can see how long it took to get the washer from the notes on the receipt). I originally had them looking for a Throttle cable but by the time I got home, I realized they were incapable so I found it on my own, ordered it, and rec'd it before both of the parts, they ordered, had arrived at their the shop. When the Intake gasket came in, they didn't call me, I had to call them. When I went in, I found out the washer had not come in. Then I get the "Supplier had a back order" story. So it took 2 weeks to get the washer. I have 2 years in Business Admin (including law & accounting), and worked as a purchasing agent for California Mustang (City of Industry, CA) in the late 80's, and this is how you run a FAILING business. I know this guy recently purchased the shop, but his experience of repairing small engines is about where it stops. I am just glad I did not leave my edger there. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Ijust payed them 200 to service my lawnmower and now its got oil everywhere and wont start. I asked him to come look at it because its broke down in my yard and wont start and there is oil everywhere. He didnt tighten something down and wont even come look at it. He says I have to pay him to come back out even though he ruined my lawnmower! Worst company i have ever done business with! Jade sold the shop and these guys have no business working on equipment. They couldnt even get the blades to cut even. The new owner says i dont know. So i said i guess i need to take it to another company so they can do it right he said i guess so. I stopped in to inquire about an electric mower repair (sadly the old mower isn't worth fixing vs the cost of a replacement-- but they are recycling the old broken one for me). I was pleased with the service. Apparently there is new ownership, so maybe the previous poor reviewers should give this small local shop another try. And diagnostic fees are a part of life-- the person performing the work needs to be paid for their time, right?! read more

Francisco has been servicing my equipment for four to five years. He has always been great. He is now mobile. He came to my house. He was on time as scheduled. Had work done 55 days ago , gas leak in the carb , they charged me $55.00 just to drop it off , fixed it for $46.00 more , it's leaking again at the same place , Called and asked if I could bring it back... and did I have to pay the $55.00 again (?!) was told yes because it's been over 30 days.. I believe work was not done right the 1st time , we should not have to pay a fee again just to have it looked at and fix the same problem twice ! The signs were there when we called. It took the front counter guy 45 minutes to speak to us as he continuously placed us on hold. We wanted to ask if they could repair our mower because we heard they were new owners, so we waited to give them the opportunity to work on it, opposed to the manufacturer in Stockton. When we spoke with them they said they could repair the mower. When we went in we waited an additional 20 minutes for a customer ahead of us being attended to, again waiting to provide the small business owners the chance. We paid the 65$ towards the inspection which we were told would go towards the repair costs. My husband repeatedly stated that oil was getting into the combustion and the rings most likely are the reason for the leak and should be replaced. He added, that the mower was losing oil and smoking. The first call we were told the engine was fine and that a lower seal was needed for the leak. So our first quote was about 250$. We asked then, why was it smoking? Their response would be "I don't know" Our second call we are informed the mower needed the oil changed. Well it was only obvious since it was low on oil because of the leak. Third call we are told the fly wheel needed replacing because it was broken. We get a fourth call to be informed that the head gasket has to be replaced. It apparently had silicone on it. We never worked on this unit!!!. We were told we would have to pay for the head gasket but not labor. So it ended up costing us 406$. instead of the initial 250$ and don't expect any type of itemized print out!! Luckily for them the guy never seems to know how to print anything up, not even a receipt so pay with a check or credit card! I asked my husband when the mower was picked up, where was the receipt and did the 65$ get taken off the original price as we were told? My husband said he never received one. I called asking why a receipt wasn't provided upon our payment? Xavier stated that my husband left in such a rush (keep in mind this is a small riding mower) that he was the reason why he wasn't provided one. I asked if he had a receipt available for me to pick up? Xavier said yes he did. I asked if he could then, instead fax it over? He said "Yeah, I will right now." I waited a few minutes for the fax and noticed I hadn't received it. So I called him back informing him I hadn't received it as he said he would send it. That's when the fireworks went off! He kept telling me had other people to deal with and I now needed to wait. I told him that's not what he said to me. I told him if he had the receipt readily available as he stated then it would take no more than 1 minute to fax it over. He kept justifying that he had other people, it was a new system, and so on. I kept pushing back saying the amount of time he's on the phone he could easily have already faxed it. Well he decided if he raised his voice at me that would put me at ease. I did bring up my tone to illustrate I had not be yelling but was at this point and would NOT tolerate being yelled at because he does not know what QUALITY Customer service is!!! He continued to attempt to speak over me by yelling and told him i was not that one who would tolerate being yelled at. He then asked if i was threatening him ( clearly he wanted someone to hear) i told him yes that i was going to contact the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint on them of this inappropriate transaction since they failed to provide an itemized receipt. He yelled back asking had I ever been a business owner and I replied I had and I provided quality customer service By FOLLOWING THROUGH ON WHAT I TOLD THE CUSTOMER! I kept telling him my husband didn't just pick up a regular mower but rather a riding mower which took time to ride out of their lot as well driven into the back of the trailer which provided plenty of time for someone to provide a written receipt! He said he just happened to have another customer come in and didn't have time for me now but did mention he had two people working the counter. I kept stressing the amount of time he has spent arguing with me has provided him ample amount of time to FAX it ( yes it was a down right pissing contest between the two of us once he started yelling at me)!! He then said to stand by my fax machine he'd have it faxed to me in "5 minutes! Start the clock now!" Two rounds of fax came in with blank pages. I calmly called him stating the fax is probably being sent upside down because nothing is coming through. He stated he was aware of it and his counter guy was attempting to remedy the problem by scanning the sheet again. It did not come through the 3rd or 4th time and so i sent the husband back to pick up the receipt ( I knew I wasn't in a position to see this rude man who thought he could yell at a female customer). Don't want to bore you with all the details , but trust me this place doesn't know what customer service is and will attempt to rip you off with the estimate . I took a Husky chainsaw in to be serviced. It had been left sitting with fuel in it for a couple of years then was given to me. I paid 30.00 just to get them to look at it. It was already running but not real well. They called a few days later and told me it would be another 136.00 to replace the diaphragm and fuel line. The saw new is less than 200.00... I said no thanks and picked it up. Today I got a new carburetor, fuel line, fuel filter and air cleaner for less than 15.00 on Amazon. 2 screws to remove the carb, feed the fuel line through and put the filter inside the tank. It will only go together the right way. The jets are preset... if you have a tailgate,,, just do it yourself and forget about going to Jades... read more

Our riding lawn mower has been to the shop 3 times in a period of 3 weeks. We were charged for a belt that was never replaced and we have only been able to use the mower for less than one hour. Jade has sold the shop to Frankie, hopefully he will be able to fix the mower. read more

I dropped my Honda mower off at jades and then read the reviews. I was a bit nervous after reading the reviews but I'm happy to say everything was good. I got the mower back and everything I wanted done was done. They got it back to me sooner than what they had told me and the bill was a little less than the original quote. Yes it does take a little time at the counter but it is a small shop and I'm sure it would cost way to much to get more help just for that. I waited a few minutes as they helped other customers but it was no big deal. I wouldn't want to feel like they are just pushing people through. I was disappointed when I learned that Jade had sold his business. I have been going to him for years and I figured he would be hard to replace. Earlier this week, I walked into the shop and I met the new owner, Frankee. My lawn mower needed a tune-up and my gas edger was falling apart. I figured I was going to have to buy a new one. I asked Frankee how long it would take to get the job done. He told me he would have everything completed by Friday. On Wednesday, I received a call from Frankee. He advised me he was done and he had repaired my edger. It is working again. He reviewed what he did with both items. He saved me money by not replacing things that were still working properly.
