We stopped here for lunch after visiting Akaka Falls. The lunch specials were a good value, especially compared to the prices at the Beach resort where we are staying near Kona. I got the Szechuan eggplant, which included hot and sour soup, spring roll, crab Rangoon, and white rice. It was not too spicy. My dad got the fish and vegetable lunch special and egg drop soup which he enjoyed. My husband ordered the beef and asparagus dinner size and said it was tasty. My mother ordered the steamed fish dinner size. The rice was not included with the dinner portions, so it was an additional charge for their rice. They also offered a pot of hot tea on the house which my dad thought was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! read more

Did the owners change or just the quality of food? The orange chicken was hard, overcooked, and mostly skin. The vegetable chow mein was dry with just a sprinkle of veggies. The gau gee was over cooked as well. Sweet sour shrimp and minute chicken cake noodle were ok. Portions are small. For a sit down Chinese restaurant....there were no chopsticks, no not tea, and the to go boxes were plastic plates. Very disappointing on the overall quality and "esthetics" of a once well known family run Chinese restaurant in Waimea. Pandas would have been better given the quality. read more

Came there on a rainy afternoon. Was welcomed immediately and seated. Servers were very friendly and attentive The food was outstanding. Fresh with great flavor. If you are a connoisseur of egg fu yung-- if you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to have it and that's ALL you're gonna order from a Chinese restaurant for the rest of your life... don't go here. On a scale of 1 to 10 their egg fu yung is a meh. BUT if you like everything else on a typical Chinese menu, THIS place is fo you. Everytime we eat here the taste and quality of food stays the same, it always tastes like the vegetables are fresh and the flavor is good. You will not find gross things like hair in it like you'll find in other Chinese restaurants; this place has been pretty good about serving really good food. The dude that works in the front is always nice whether it's on the phone or in your face. I would say Jade Palace probably has the Chinese food on the island! read more

We discovered this restaurant the last time we came home to visit, and it was soooo ono! We're back home again and shared with our daughter and her husband and they were like this the best Chinese food they ever had! Service was great! We'll return again. read more

Delicious! Someone told me this was the best Chinese food they've ever had and to try it out. We were not disappointed. Even my picky kids ate everything on their plate. One is still at the table eating more. General chicken was perfect, not too spicy, and fresh crunchy chicken. Kids devoured the orange chicken. As far as overpriced Chinese goes, this place wins. No quart prices. Dropped $90 on takeout last night. Crab Rangoon had no dipping sauce. Lemon Chicken had no sauce. I've had the lemon chicken from the Kona location many times, so I was expecting it to be good. The black bean fish was good, but not put in a proper container so it leaked on everything. Which works great in a paper bag. The won tons and crab rangoons had almost no filling. I expect more than fried philo dough. With Don's across the street, I probably won't be back any time soon. read more

I always have a better day after going to the Jade Palace. My favorite is the shrimp stuffed tofu with black bean sauce. It is delicious. The salt and pepper pork, chicken, fish and shrimp and the ground pork with string beans, garlic shrimp and roast duck are also very good in my opinion . I recommend ordering a scoop of rice on the side and some spring rolls. I think it's a nice touch that they serve hot tea for free and the servers there are always pleasant and efficient. read more

I just ordered a shrimp fried rice for take out from here so this review is purely based on that one dish. I have been to places where a even simple fried rice gets messed up but not this one so very happy for that. read more

This place is a gem hidden in Waimea! It is part of a small shopping lot structure very easy to find and has plenty of parking space. My bf and I decided to drive out here for lunch , as dine in service is opened. The menu has a very nice selection of Chinese variety choices include roasted duck, char siu, fried house and chicken , beef and pork. We ordered the honey walnut shrimp, house special fried rice, half roasted duck and orange chicken. Let me start with the orange chicken it was sooo good! The best on the island! It was very crispy , the sauce was light and well seasoned not too sour not too sweet, and the inside was moist (not dry or overcooked). The honey walnut shrimp was also very good. It was fried crispy not too oil , the Mayo and honey sauce was good not sour or overpowering. I can taste the honey in it. Next the house fried rice was unique , flavorful and well balance, very nice balance of meat and veggies. The roast duck was surprisingly very good! It was not oily, perfectly seasoned and very crispy skin. The portion they gave was very generous, so we had leftover for take out! The staff were nice and this restaurant was really accommodating and was able to substitute certain foods due to dietary restrictions. Not only that but their food was great! We don't always eat here, but we wanted a meal cooked to order for our anniversary and for late lunch. We ordered the salt and pepper shrimp, kalbi short ribs, beef and asparagus with black bean sauce, and crispy gau gee Cake noodles. Everything was so good and fresh. The asparagus was crispy, the crispy gau gee was so filled with a good portion of meat, the cake noodles were perfect, the shrimp was so tasty. I devoured what I could. The service was great. There were only a few people in there, but it wasn't a normal lunch hour 2pm so that was to be expected. read more

This restaurant gives you the option to eat from the buffet area for $11.50, or to order from the menu. Also if you sit and dine in, they give complementary green tea. (*Stars for that!*) From the menu we ordered: Lunch Special with Mixed Fish and Mixed Vegetables. The special includes rice, fried roll, ragoons, and a soup option which we chose hot & sour soup. The dish was filling enough, but nothing really special. The soup & ragoons were good tho! Singapore Rice Noodle. The dish was a nice family style portion size. First time here and definitely not the last time. Ordered the Dinner Special. Egg drop soup was very flavorful. You get to choose 2 appetizers (as we did the dinner for 2). We chose Crab Rangoons and Crispy Won Tons; both were fresh and delicious. We then ordered Orange Chicken and Salt and Pepper Chicken. Just look at the photographs as proof. Excellent fresh chinese food; try the pot stickers, salt and pepper shrimp and house special fried rice. They make their own sauces; peking duck with hand made bao and an excellent plum sauce. I don't know why there are bad reviews. Most real chinese restaurants make food with cheap ingredients and horrible bottled sauces. Here, everything is fresh, served hot and always friendly, clean. Great for parties and really one of thelast places where locals can afford to eat. All the bitchy naysayers, go somewhere else and spend your money. I was craving some Chinese food during this recent lockdown and was glad to find That Jade was still open and doing takeout orders. I'd been there for lunch but never for dinner. I called and made my order over the phone and it was so easy - the person taking the order was very pleasant and easy to deal with. The pickup was easy also - they came out to my car and took payment and also delivered my food to the car. After getting home I was so pleased. Everything was so tasty and well made - the dishes also had the right amount of spice and seasoning and portions were also generous. It's a bit of a drive for me to get there, but I'll definitely head back and order from Jade again! Went here for lunch buffet. Everything I tried was delicious...and I tried to take a little of everything...but got too full towards the end. So I could have been really happy with just the first half of the buffet. Sweet and sour pork short rib were very tender and had a nice vinegar based sauce. I really enjoyed the veggies in the dishes-soft but not too soft--the beef and broccoli had perfect broccoli. The tea was really nice too and I am not a big tea drinker. They had sesame seed covered mochi balls which had some black beans in the center. There also was some sort of doughnut type item which my mom had tried out. The reviews were all really good so we were excited to go. We tried to order 1 plate with brocilli beef and orange chicken with chow mein but they said we couldn't order that and had us order much more than we wanted. He charged us for 2 plates of orange chicken, broccoli beef, chow mein, white rice, won tons, ehhrolls and soup. We ended up spending much more money than we anticipated and got way more food than we wanted and most of it got wasted and then the food that we wanted didn't even taste right. The chow mein tasted really old and had a texture like it was from the previous day and reheated and the beef was nearly white.
