    Craving Chinese food

3+ stars for Jade Palace. We have been in Hawaii for 10 days and I am missing Chinese food. FB and Yelp led us here and I'd come back to try other items. Today we had the dry beef chow fun, garlic green beans and sizzling shrimp. The chow fun could use some more flavor but the beef was good and tender. No bean sprouts, instead sliced cabbage, shredded carrots and sliced yellow onions. The green beans were tender and maintained their vibrant color. A bit too much of the sauce for me. The shrimp was a really nice size and cooked perfectly. Best to take them off the sizzling plate quickly so that they stop cooking further. I love how ice water is served right away here in Hawaii versus in our droughty state. Parking is easy and the service is efficient. It's pretty loud when there are lots of patrons. During our lunch, there was a large group celebrating a birthday. A nice locals place. Next time, I'd try the soup and noodles and maybe the roast duck with buns. It's labor intensive and not many places so this. Support this local business.

Pretty decent Chinese food. I had the eggplant lunch special. Comes with rice, soup, spring roll and crab Rangoon. Too much for my body but enough for the average person. Little pricey for lunch but about the same as others in the area.

After being at the beach we were starving and came to Jade Palace for a late lunch. We are vegetarian, and they had a bunch of items that we good choose from on the menu. The food was tasty, the atmosphere casual and it was an overall good experience.

Tired of Hawaiian food? Jade Palace gave us a sweet relief from eating local Hawaiian food for past several days. Nice crunchy asparagus in the beef asparagus dish was excellent. Little on the saucy side, but flavor was spot on. Eggrolls were filled with cabbage and few traces of carrots; nice since I've missed eating veggies. Hot & sour and wonton soup were average. Mapo tofu was little salty but the big fresh chunks of tofu more than made up for it. Service was excellent. Just like other restaurants here in Hawaii, it's a no frills business but food here is good. Enjoy! Highly recommend!

Best Chinese food on this side of the island. Been going here for years and the food tastes pretty consistent every time. Egg fu yung was a little on the salty side this time around but everything else tasted like it normally does. Good place to go if you have a lot of people in your party, food portions are good sized and prices are fair for what you get.

Driving back from the Volcano to Kohala Coast. It was getting late and we were getting hungry. Couldn't get a reservation and walk-ins were becoming slim. Drove by a shopping plaza and saw Jade Palace. Thank goodness they had a table for us! We ordered dinner for 4. It came with your choice of Hot & Sour or Egg Drop Soup, and for appetizer you can have Crispy Wonton, Spring Roll or Crab Rangoon. Then we each picked an entree. Wow! Delicious food! Everything came out fast and everything tasted great! We ordered: Egg Drop Soup - good flavor and I love the peas and corn in the soup. Crab Rangoon - crispy and not greasy. Tastes good. General Chicken - I like that it had a little heat. Sweet and Sour Pork - big chunks of pork with good crunch, even though it had a lot of sauce. Salt and Pepper Fish - The fish tasted fresh. Not overly battered. Beef with Vegetables - I like the flavor of the gravy. Good assortment of veggies! I love how crispy everything is. And nothing was greasy. This is worth a try when in Waimea.

Extensive menu. And very good food. The wanton soup was delicious. One of the best Chinese restaurants on the Big Island.

Since I was working in Waimea town, I decided to stop by the food court at the Parker Ranch Center. There are several eateries in the Parker Ranch Center food court, but what caught my eye was - "Don's Chinese Kitchen". Don's Chinese Kitchen kinda reminds me of the old skool "Patti's Chinese Kitchen" we used to have on Oahu back-in-da-dayz. It's typically your Chinese fast food joint. The nice thing about coming to Don's Chinese Kitchen is that the food is already made & ready to go. The service here was fast & friendly, and they give you a CRAP LOAD of FOOD at a reasonable price. My (2) item plate was $15 bucks & some change. Can we say DEALAGES Yo! I elected to get a (2) item plate with starch, and I requested the chow fun, salt & pepper fish, & orange chicken. What I actually end up getting was chow fun & fried rice (because they ran out of chow fun). Also, my orange chicken actually turned out to be sweet & sour pork (I think there was some sorta communication issue) Lol. Overall, the food was just okay. I wouldn't go out of my way, or make a special trip to come back here, but if I'm in the area & don't know what to eat? Sure, I'd stop by again for a quick meal. What can I say about the grub? I would say that the salt & pepper fish was the star on my plate. As for the chow fun, it kinda grossed me out as it was so oily!

Dons Chinese Kitchen was plan A. 2/3 less $$ Than our Burger night last night in the same mall. Orange Chicken, tempura shrimp , beef broccoli and chow mein. Just enough, nothing left. A Lucky Choice !

We shared the ahi poke nachos and ordered the macadamia crusted mahi mahi, pork shank, and grill trio. All hearty options and very delicious. Drinks were enjoyed by our table too. We weren't seated right next to the window but still had a great view of the water which melted into the night. One of our most enjoyable meals during our trip.

It has that old-school vibe, with great service, and great food. As soon as we sat down, they brought over some kids' quesadilla appetizers. The kids were quiet and we could sit and relax. Their menu is a blend of land and sea entrees. Even the kids' menu was elevated with short ribs and green beans. We all enjoyed our meals. The butterfish, scallops, and white fish were among our favorites. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly so they melt in your mouth. The meat loaf (which consisted of 2 large loaves) was also very good. We ended the evening with chocolate lava cake, which was gooey and delicious.
