First appointment: Great experience. Monica was a pleasure to work with. I ended up choosing a dress that day. Second appointment: also with Monica. She was nice and helped me pin my dress where it needed to be altered. She even worked with me in terms of getting additional clear buttons/snaps added to my dress so I could wear flats for my first dance since it's a swing dance. That day, I also emailed Monica, after the appointment, to keep the trimmed hem and fabric because I would like to make a bow out of it for my dog. She responded immediately and said that was no problem. Third appointment:. This one was with Winnie - the owner I presume. She shoved me in a tiny little cubby to try on my altered dress. Someone else was using the little platform in front of the mirror so she just said go stand right in front of the mirror. I was alone that day because both of my bridesmaids were out of town and my family doesn't live here. So, I wasn't able to get a good look at the length of the dress. Winni kept pulling on the bottom. Sure enough, after getting home and trying it on at home the dress was cut too short. You can see my toes. What the actual eff. So now I have to find new shoes (my wedding is in 27days). Secondly, the clear buttons I had discussed and paid for with Monica were not there and I had to inquire about them and Winnie was just like "oh Monica is still new to alterations, we wouldn't add those buttons, looks weird". So I had to ask for the refund. She would have never even brought it up or refunded me if I hadn't mentioned it!!!! Thirdly, the fabric I asked for via email correspondence...wasn't there. She didn't even know about it. I had to drive to the seamstress and she just gave me some old fabric. I felt super uncomfortable during my third appointment and am very disappointed in the quality of service I was provided with. Fourthly, the owner let me leave her store with a very uneven bustle. At the time of my appointment, I was unable to have my local bridesmaids accompany as both were out of town and I do not have family in Chicago so there was no one with me to double check that everything looked good and even in the back. Attached you will find photos. Winnie kept saying "it's busy season". Well, if that's the case then either extend your hours,provide more full length mirrors, or hire more staff. I cannot say enough great things about my initial consultation at Jade. This was my first time ever trying on wedding dresses and expressed some of my anxieties and uncertainties about what exactly I was looking for, and I was met with the most understanding, affirming experience. Kelley was wonderful from start to finish. She took time to get to know me, what I was looking for, and was an expert at identifying parts of certain dresses I loved and finding other selections that had similar styles. She was so helpful and kind and I felt so comfortable with her. After going to other bridal salons during the day that treated us as simply a way to make a sale, or tried to insinuate that they didn't have anything that would look good on my body (I'm a size 12/14 which is a weird in between area from standard to plus sizing in the bridal world), i am so glad we started our day at Jade. Not sure what I was expecting, but considering it was in Chicago (and I've been to many stores/boutiques in the city) I assumed it would be elegant - at the very least "decent". RUDE AWAKENING!! Firstly, pulling up the very first thing that turned me off was that their windows hadn't been cleaned in some time and graffiti littered them. First impression - uhm.....O-kaaayyy then. Next, when we entered the building Rebecca (I believe was her name) was on the phone, and did not greet us. She just opened the door and waved us in. Oh it gets better - We approach the sitting area and begin to settle in. One of the girls in our group pointed out the many strands of hair that were covering the little sofa. The only thing we could make of this was Rebecca (yes it was her hair) must rest on it. ?? We settle in and look around - the place was in need of a deep cleaning and needs freshened up. The large mirror in front of - as well as the rug under the box (where the bride stands to showcase the dress) were both filthy. The walls were nasty. They had an orange utility extension cord draped across a black ceiling leading to their big chandelier!! No effort to disguise it. There is more, but I'll not go on. I found this place a bit off but maybe that's how smaller boutiques are like? There is a small collection and they have a wonderful staff to help with the fitting. What baffles me is the way the dresses are sold. There was a lot of convincing that alterations are normal when they just don't cater to petite people. I found my dream dress here. The rest of the experience, however, was AWFUL. DO NOT BUY AND ALTER YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE. Buying the dress was easy. The first problem came when I received the call that my dress was ready to be shipped, and I just needed to make my final payment. Wini said after the payment posted, it would take 2-3 weeks for the dress to come in. What she never mentioned until over a month later, was that shipping was delayed because of a warehouse relocation. She never called or emailed to tell me this. When the dress finally came in, it was big. Wini said 2 inches on either side should fit. It was too late to order the veil I wanted. Wini said her seamstress could make a veil that looks just like the one I wanted. 2nd fitting- dress was big in the bust, a little snug in the back and still long. The lace jacket had a HUGE SEAM in the front, because the SEAMSTRESS THOUGHT THE BUTTONS WENT IN FRONT. At least, that's what Wini said. 3rd fitting, 10 days until the wedding. Veil looked like a child's arts and crafts project. The dress was so tight in the back, I had back fat spilling over. Wini said I was swollen because it was hot outside. She said I should have 6 girls help me and pat myself down in baby powder.! The bust still did not fit. When I emailed her my concerns about the back being too tight, she emailed me back stating she would tell her seamstress to take out an inch. That's when it occurred to me at no point at any fitting did I ever see a seamstress. At no point was I measured, or pinned. Wini simply chose to keep taking it in, ultimately guessing on the alterations!! I felt like an idiot, how did I not realize I needed a seamstress?!?! I guess I just trusted this woman, business owner, to know how to do her job. After demanding to see the seamstress because Wini said she didn't speak English, I pointed out you don't need to speak English to see a dress doesn't fit. 8 days before my wedding and my dress doesn't fit and the woman who sold it to me thinks it's ok for her bride to look like a stuffed sausage. The "seamstress" ended up taking the dress out, putting a HUGE SEAM down the front of my lace bodice, pieces of fabric sticking out of the sides and missing lace scallopping around the edge of the dress. I ended up grabbing my dress, which was on a wire hanger and flimsy short open plastic bag, and took it to another seamstress who was DISGUSTED. She said the dress was done so badly, the person who did it had no experience altering wedding dresses or working with lace. My dress needed to be taken IN again, 3 inches at the waist, hemmed about 4 inches, bust taken in at the seams and the jacket patched up and re-done to hide the seams and folded fabric seams. I paid for a new dress and ended up wearing a dress that was taken in and out so many times it didn't even have all of its original fabric. It had spots on it, presumably from Wini transporting it back and forth to her "seamstress." At the end of the day, I did get my money back for the alterations and veil. She never reimbursed me for what I paid at the new seamstress, even after stating in an email she would cover the cost for alterations. Wini has no business selling wedding dresses. She obviously doesn't care what her brides look like. There is no seamstress on site to do proper measurements. No bride should EVER go through what I went through the week of my wedding. If the dress was properly fitted, none of this would have happened. DO NOT GO HERE. BOTTOM LINE. read more

Amazing service! I went dress shopping by myself on a weekday afternoon and had the most wonderful experience with Wini, the store owner. She took the time to really listen to my vision of my wedding day and she seemed to really understand my personal style. Her selection of gowns is just beautiful. They're open only a few days a week, so make sure you call in to leave a voice mail for an appointment ahead of time! I called about 2 weeks before my actual appointment. I tried on a few dresses while I was here, all under my budget and all beautiful!! Wini is the designer for some of the dresses and if you want certain alterations to the style of the dress, she's super open to suggestions (ie, making a strappy dress strapless or making a dress appear more mermaid-y). What's great is that there's a fixed amount of money you pay for the alterations (I believe it was $150 or $200) and it includes all of the alterations needed for your dress! This is incredible as most other alteration places will cost you close to $400-500 for dress alterations!!! I cannot say enough about how amazing my experience was trying on samples at Jade Bridal! This was the 3rd shop I visited after having changed the vision for what type of dress I wanted. I was nervous about being able to make an appointment during the literally 26hrs my mom would be visiting over the weekend, but I called and they were able to get me in. On the weekend. Within days of the weekend. To help make the most of my appointment time, my consultant, Kelley, even did a mini-consult over the phone when I scheduled and let me email her the options I had in mind. She knew just the dresses to pull. When my mom, MOH and I arrived, Kelley did a great job of grabbing the dresses I had in mind and helping me (my entourage) stay focused and within budget. Kelley was really patient with me especially when at the end of the appointment, I was indecisive about 2 favorite dresses! Winnie and Kelley were really great and found some availability to return to the shop really quickly when I could bring 1 more person to help me with my decision. When we returned to the shop, I was so excited a) I knew I'd be leaving with a dress and b) Kelley, although she wasn't scheduled for that day, chose to be there and help me out for my special "say yes to the dress moment!" In the last 15 years or so I've been to dozens of bridal boutiques, no lie. I've never had such a positive experience as at Jade Bridal. Sure, some places are larger and more opulent, but this place is chic, modern and comfortable. I've been to plenty of places that act like they're doing you a favor by showing you their dresses. Not here. The owner Wini (pronounced Winnie) treated us like VIPs from the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out, and she has an uncanny ability to match your personality to the right dress. She knows how to listen too. She never, even for one second, pressured us to buy anything, or to impose a style on us that we didn't like. If you try on any of the display dresses, Wini will happily take pictures of you in every dress and email them to you by the time you get home. She's a pretty good photographer. The collection is small, but Wini can custom make anything for you. If you like the top of one dress and the skirt of another, she'll make it for you. She will sit patiently with you in her office while you peruse hundreds of photos, in order to figure out what you like. We got reverse sticker shock from the display dresses, and even the prices we were quoted for custom made dresses were shockingly low. Every dress we tried on was well made, and there is a nice variety of styles, materials and price ranges. They are made to measure and you will not find a single flaw among any of them. Wini seems to run a one-woman shop. She doesn't look old enough to drive, and I think she is a size -2. :-) But she is the furthest thing from a typical fashion snob. She is far and away the friendliest bridal boutique owner I've ever met. I almost rated the boutique 4 stars only because the bathroom and changing rooms don't quite compare to some of the other bridal boutiques in the city. You won't find fancy marble vanities here, but I still think I'd much rather come here than anywhere else I've been in the city, simply because of the superior service. I am so glad I found this place! I first noticed this boutique while driving by and decided to give it a try after reading all the good reviews on Yelp. I called a few days in advance and made an appointment for a Friday evening after work. Already, that was totally unlike my experience at other places, where they are booked weeks in advance, or want you to make an appointment in the middle of the day during the week. Other shops I had been to either totally ignored me when I told them I had no bridesmaids, or laughed in my face when I told them how much I wanted to spend. At Jade, this is not the case! I went to the appointment with my mom, and Wini made us both feel comfortable from the first moment we arrived. After telling her about what style I liked and what my budget was (low compared to alot of other brides), she went over to the racks to pull dresses. I was impressed by the different selections in all price ranges. Wini even helped me maneuver in and out of the dresses in the fitting room, and while normally this would be extremely distressing to me, Wini made me feel comfortable the entire time. I felt like I was in there with a friend. If you're shy, wear full coverage underwear! Wini really made the entire experience great, and I am very pleased to have found my dress at her shop. It was within the budget I outlined, and will be custom made to my measurements. I think it is a great value and am so excited to see the end product! I was having a hard time finding the right dress. I was driving by the area and saw this bridal salon. When I first walked in, it was a very clean pretty simple salon. There was a lot of dresses to pick from. There was bridal dresses and evening gowns. I tried on a lot of different styles and explained what I like. From what I liked Wini was able to pull up other dresses and custom make the dress I loved. She is very nice, patient and pleasant to work with. She also was able to give great recommendations on other wedding things you need. I came from San Diego to Chicago to shop for a wedding dress along with my mom, mother in law, and matron of honor. Chicago was a halfway point for everyone to meet. I went to half a dozen bridal salons ranging from boutiques to nationwide chains. I found the dress at Jade Bridal. It was a stunning handmade Pronovia with multiple layers of lace. I fell in love with the dress except for the straps. I had always dreamed of a strapless wedding dress and this one had very thick straps. Wini was very helpful and explained that the straps could very easily be removed. Upon receiving the dress, it did not fit in any way (no, I didn't gain nor lose weight). The dress was about 8" from being able to zip in the back and it was about 12" too long. Maybe the dress just comes at a standard length because I don't remember doing measurements for height, but it should have fit around my ribs. Thankfully, I found an amazing seamstress that completely deconstructed and reconstructed the dress to fit me with countless hours of work. But, she told me the straps were structural and they couldn't be removed without compromising the dress. I went to three seamstresses and all three said the same thing. It wasn't the vision I had imagined forever, but it was nonetheless stunning and I have even received compliments after the wedding of guests still saying how much they loved that dress! I never write reviews but this experience was so wonderful I couldn't resist! The shopowner (I think her name is Wini) was so accommodating and helpful. She knew all of her stuff and helped my friend decide on a custom design for her wedding dress! She genuinely cared about what my friend wanted and listened carefully to all her details. It was quite refreshing considering we had experienced some impersonal and stuckup shops before. This shop is great, give it a chance and stop in, you won't be disappointed! They have cute formal gowns too, not just wedding dresses, also, the price point is nearly IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT. Also, Wini suggested all sorts of Facebook pages and informed my friend of various venues and photographers! She was so sweet! read more
