This place is now his mecca. The attire is proper gentlemen's clothes / suits and something a little more special than some of the trash in East London or the cheap nonsense in Central London. If you are a man and a fan of vintage clothes, this should be your first stop - these guys pride themselves on specialising on vintage suits and they really are the best I've found.

Especially good if you want to get things like Morning Suits or DJs. There is a lot of stock, so you may have to search for what you need. Go and have a browse around if you have a spare minute or two. They also do alterations. I still have the wedding outfit I got from there, and it has paid itself back many times now. We visited on a Saturday while the market was in full swing so the store was crammed with people. The Mister was taken with their men's messenger bags and settled on a very stylish model that was waxed so it's rain resistant. At under £40, it was reasonably priced and it's good quality too. Kelly couldn't resist a smaller purse - again, stylish, sturdy and a great souvenir! The staff, despite being so busy, was lovely and gave us some good recommends for local places to grab a bite. Worth a stop!

I have to say, if you or I were to go into this shop now and compared it with what it looked like back in 2000 and 2002, all the staff and the shop itself has changed considerably. Gieves & Hawkes as a Savile Row company has changed a completely, ever since I first knew them as a school boy. But I do still like the Gieves & Hawkes brand, only to some extent.

Now this place isn't going to be for everyone but I think that every town should have one. Go there and be measure up for your news shirt and suit, purchase your shoes and match it all with a tie. Coupled with this you can go and get the kids kitted out for that private school they are going to, knowing that it all fits perfectly and they will look smart. Traditional in every sense of the word, a trip back in time but some great products and a wonderful service. Typically city gent or West end worker who wants to look smart and look the part.

Bamford…read more& Sons is a label with long heritage but I am embarrassed to admit that for me this was the first time I even heard from the label. My excuse is that I am a woman after all. The first impression was that the clothes were essential pieces, very classical and well made, anything between business ans leisure, with very upscale price tags. We decided to get the tie elsewhere. I can't imagine anyone of my under thirty year old friends as regular customer of this label but that is just my youthful opinion about their target group based on the safe looking designs.
