After a year of watching boutiques close one after another, it was nice to see something new open for once. The store caters to feet: shoes, boots and socks to be more specific. The front half of the store serves men while the back is devoted to women. You won't find any clothing, housewares or fun toys that you might in other Paul Smith stores, but you will not be disappointed by the plethora of striped socks and boots that come in every fashionable color of the rainbow. Look hard and you might find a few scarves, charming leather gloves and even a necklace or two. It might be because the store has just opened, but when I visited on Saturday there were about 6 sales people on hand to pounce on - err help - anyone who stepped across the threshold. They were polite and friendly, and not too pushy. Definitely a satisfying shoe shopping experience.

He specialises in high quality mens' formal and casual clothing including weekend shirts, sweaters, trousers and coats. Suits can be bought off the peg or made to measure by the same factory as supplies Brioni, all for considerably less than the equivalent in the Bond St, Jermyn St or Knightsbridge shops. I have several suits, jackets and trousers from him, as well as a now well-worn Italian leather coat with a detatchable lining that I can never be parted from in winter. Richard and his staff take a personal interest in their customers, most of whom are of long standing. It's exactly as it should be, and the quality and service mean that it's now one of the few independent high-class men's outfitters left.

If you want a bright coloured mac, they've got some great ones in here and I might pop back and get one later this week. Expect to pay about £40 - £60 for a dress, and up to £80 - £100 for a coat. Avoid the shoes, they're never nice.

Review of New Look in Harrow…read more Today, I went shopping at New Look in Harrow and had an unpleasant experience at the checkout. When I was paying for my items, I asked if they offered a student discount. The cashier confirmed that they do and asked for my student card. However, when I handed it over, she told me it was not real because it did not have an expiry date. I have been studying at Harrow College for two years, and this card was issued by the college itself. I explained this to the cashier and even offered to prove it using the Harrow College student app, which clearly shows my enrollment status. The app also displays my photo, date of birth, and name, and I even had a class on the same day. Despite this, she refused to accept my student card, which was frustrating and disappointing. After completing my purchase, she asked for my email. I told her I would prefer a printed receipt if possible. Instead of responding professionally, she laughed sarcastically and said, "A student without an email?" which I found rude and unprofessional. When I asked for her name, she refused to give it. This experience was frustrating and unprofessional. I hope the store trains its staff better on customer service and how to properly verify student IDs.
