I love my dentist in Florida, but I have to say-Dr. Jacobs is THE BOMB! I went into his office expecting to get a crown and instead removed an old filling and replaced it. The majority of other dentists would have gone in for the kill and moved forward with the crown regardless. Furthermore, my bite has been off for years...he fixed it with some minor magic... Not only did Dr. Jacobs spend more time than ALL of my doctors collectively over the years, but his chair side manner should get an award. As far as the front office staff...I do not at all agree with anyone on yelp that stated anything negative. They were AMAZING! They spent a very long time dealing with my health insurance, extremely friendly, patient and accommodating. Dr. Jacobs assistant...again...fabulous... Tomorrow I get to go for a cleaning...YAY! Unfortunately I never got to see the dentist, I'm truly astonished at how bad the office is managed. Upon booking all seemed well. I was able to book within a reasonable amount of time. (1 week) When my appointment was confirmed that's when things took a turn. I spoke to a lady who was nice, but absolutely clueless. She didn't seem to know a single answer to my questions. She had to keep calling me back to give me basic info/pricing. Then the cherry on the cake was she asked me to look up Aetna's number because "it would be easier for her" I told her, she could simply google it. Then, today- I was meant to go in, I had a voicemail telling me to call back as the dentist is unavailable today. So, I called back and the lady wasn't sure who I am/what I wanted. I explained and she said "so what you wanna do?" I was sort of taken back, surely you'd apologise for any inconvenience and suggest a time for me to reschedule... Long story short. Should you work with Jacobs, I would advise paying as you go, the minimum possible and using Amex or a bank card with the most protection possible (should you need to file a chargeback) Though my experience was akin to a Sienfeld-ian situation where one reads the notes on their chart. He did find a minor chip. He didn't push me to buy extra services. His office is clean and his staff is friendly and professional. When I called to dispute appointment explained I was a patient for several years.I never received post card . or email reminder from the last cleaning 6 months earlier. Liang saw me and she found so many cavities so I asked her to show me the x-ray when I couldn't see what she was talking about she got defensive. I let her do the few cavities and then before going in again I got a second opinion and they could not find the cavities she had mentioned. I should have trusted my gut. This place will say and do anything to get money from you. If you miss an appointment they will charge you anywhere from 45 to 75 dollars. Yes, I agree with the negative reviews. Office staff is horrible! They (1) Told me they were going to Email me my digital teeth images the very same day I visited them, but they never did. (2) Refused to xerox my three page dental records for me, but said they would postmail me, which they never did. (3) Said they would call me the next day to give me a quote for my cavity fillings, which they never did as well. Several days later, they told me to call them, so that they could tell me that they want to charge me $20 for DIGITAL images and ~$1 per page for copies of my records. Why did they not tell me when I was at their office? They also finally gave me a quote via email about two weeks later, for a bill of over $1200 for 10 cavity fillings (I even have double coverage insurance; My brother-in-law is a dentist, and he thought the prices were very unreasonable)! Dr. Liang found ~10 cavities and also recommended that I get my wisdom teeth pulled. I thought that was odd, because when I visited another dentist a year ago, I had zero cavities. I'm also hitting almost 30 years of age, and I've never had pain with my wisdom teeth. I went to see another dentist and he said a lot of cavities were small and didn't require any intervention. I would give Dr. Jacobs 5 stars, easily. He's a great guy. His hygienists, who will do your cleanings, are also fantastic, personable, quick and thorough. HOWEVER I have had some horrible encounters with his front desk staff. When this first happened, it was regarding an appointment time. They called and verified my time differently than what was on my reminder card, and I came in late. They told me I must have heard wrong, and were defensive. I didn't hear a thank you, and they didn't even offer to reschedule! Dr. Jacobs is kind enough to give you his email address, so I emailed him. I even spoke with him about it. 6 months later the same exact thing happened. I was livid! I had even double checked with the girl on the phone. Once again she gave me a load of attitude, and not a single apology. I'm through with this office. I just don't have the time to take off work to just be brushed off, no pun intended. I was not a patient of Dr. Jacobs but of his partner. I had seen Dr. Jacobs a few times considering I was a patient at his practice for nearly 15 years. Several weeks ago, I had an extreme toothache and asked the office to please give me an emergency appointment as I could feel something was very wrong. I had never asked this favor before. The front office, including the office manager, were so rude, unwilling to be accommodating to my situation and had zero empathy. I then asked for a referral to another dentist since they wanted me to wait over two weeks to be seen. They never even bothered to call me back. A friend gave me her dentist number and he spoke to me immediately and felt I needed to be seen by an endodontist by the description of my pain. The endodontist said I had a "hot" tooth that was severely infected and spreading into my gum line. He told me he rarely sees a case this bad but a few times a year. He stayed late to accommodate me because he explained had I waited... I would have lost the tooth and the pain would have been unbearable. That would have been all Dr. Jacob's, his partner and especially his office staff fault. I cannot express how irresponsible this office is enough!!! read more

I saw Dr. Jacobs from the first Yelp review... I had no idea where to look to find a decent dentist, and this one had a good review and was in my neighborhood. So great! I just went yesterday. He's really friendly and caring and attentive. He explains everything as he goes along. All the staff is sweet as pie, and, because I'm shallow, I have to tell you that the waiting room magazine selection is vast and very current. Dr. Jacobs is the BEST dentist. When you're a new patient, he'll schedule an initial exam to actually LISTEN to your concerns and questions. He's not rushing off to see his next patient. He'll take x-rays and do an oral exam to check thoroughly for cavities, gingivitis, or any problems you might have from previous dentists. If you only need a cleaning, his hygienists do a great job and Dr. Jacobs will come in and check in with you to see if you have any concerns. If you need more work, Dr. Jacobs and his nurses will take great care of you and he'll be just as patient as the first time he saw you. His office, from receptionists to nurses, are all very professional and nice to deal with. I switched from my last dentist because he was always rushing off, hardly listened to me, and his nurses and receptionists were rude and a pain to deal with. I'm so glad I found Dr. Jacobs. Only con is the parking which is $1.50 for 20 minutes in the garage. Meter parking only allows an hour so it's not quite enough if you're going in for serious work. But heck a great dentist is worth the trouble. read more

Dr. Jacobs is amazing. He takes his time to explain clearly what is going on with your oral hygiene. Some dentists have hands that aggravate the pain or you feel they are pushing too hard in your mouth. He is not one of those. I had a serious dental treatment which took 2 hours and after that my face was swollen and I was concerned. I improvised to go to his office a day after without making a phone call! I felt so bad to do that but I was scared of an infection. He and his assistant Carolina, who is also an angel, checked my tooth and made sure everything was fine. I have been to so many dentist so far in my life and I am happy to give Dr. Jacobs a 5 star review as he deserves it. By the way I forgot to mention that Carolina accepted to start her day 30 minutes early to help me make it to work on time. This type of care is what you find rarely in Los Angeles. read more

We found numerous cancellation fees added to our account based on mistakes made by staff. I have to say Dr. Jacobs would get 5 stars if it was just him, but I had 1 bad and 1 terrible experience with two different hygienist there. I let the first time slide, but the 2nd time, I was so appalled by the staff member that I literally walked out. I have NEVER walked out of a dentist office before. I work in patient care and it is so important to treat your patients with respect and gentleness and I did not receive that at all from them. I used to see Dr. Jacobs, and he used to be a good dentist, until..... I don't know exactly what happened, but his reception staff is borderline rude, to get an appointment (even when you are in pain) you have to almost beg. He overlooked so many cavities in my husband's teeth and my poor husband has been in a lot of pain. His equipment could be more up to date (with the fees he charges, and the amount of patients he sees, you would think he could afford new computer/x-ray technology. This would have saved me personally quite a bit of pain and money) I used to trust him, but in the last year I felt that money seemed to be a more important factor for him than his patients wellbeing and financial situation. With that I mean that the suggestionof a crown felt like ("do I really need a crown or does he want the higher fee?") His work otherwise is OK, but I just don't trust him anymore, and if you have a toothache on the weekend or loose a crown..... you better not count on Dr.Jacobs and office. If I could leave zero stars I would. Not sure if the other 5 people that left good reviews were paid but let me tell you about my first hand experience. Literally just got off the phone with them and I'm furious! First off let me say that it is NOT my fault that the dentist I had before has left. They called me last month to tell me I had to start over from scratch with Mr Jacob. Even though that is VERY frustrating and inconvenient (because I had work scheduled with her already) I said ok and decided to still stay with them since I have been going to them for 3 years. What person likes going to the dentist let alone starting over with X-rays and having to hold your mouth open for so long ect like I feel like the dentist should make it as smooth and easy as possible right? Not these people. The X-rays was taking in that very same office ans instead of them just have him look over it they were making me come in like I've never been there. So anyway I tell her today that I've been having car trouble and I didn't want to not show up so I asked if I could reschedule. She says to reschedule I need to pay a $45 reschedule fee. Are you kidding me!?! Remember earlier I said it's not my fault I had to start over so pretty much that's telling you already that im willing to work with them and they are not willing to work with me. I been with them for 3 years and NEVER had to reschedule before. Do you think they said thank you for your loyalty and since you have been with us so long we will waive this fee? Of course they did NOT say that! They are NOT user friendly at all! Last month they even charged me $10 to cover their masks, gloves, and cleaning. I called my insurance and they told me since they have to do those things anyways normal dentist don't charge for that. My insurance said they were being cheap and making the patients pay it because dentist insurance went up for them due to covid so they made us (the patients) cover the over cost. Even then I still stayed with them and payed the $10 out of pocket. But this is it. They are NOT user friendly and they are not willing to work with you. Go there at your own risk. I am telling you they are trying to get money out of you anyway they can. The staff is far from nice. Last year I had one girl get an attitude and hang up on me and I had to call back and nobody would give me her name and I asked for a manager and they said there was no manager but I could schedule an appointment with Dr Liang and talk to her about what happened. Why would I make a dentist appointment with the dentist about her staff? Like they don't care about the people, they don't care about customer service, all they care about is your money! And it's too many dentist out there for me accept the mistreatment! The only reason I was going to them anyway is because my orthodontist was is the same building. I found Dr. Jacobs on Yelp actually after looking for people blue cross ppo dentals plans had on their list, and I can't say enough what a fabulous dentist he is. He is so professional, explains things really well, and has a great personality. I haven't had any trouble with his staff and have actually had to cancel last minute due to illness, and they were really cool about it. I agree with another yelper....it's amazing that you almost never have to wait more than a few minutes. On time, what a novel idea. =) read more

This review is not so much for Dr. Jacobs himself, but for my overall experience at this office. On my first visit, one of the first things the staff did was try to sell me on teeth bleaching, which put me off right from the start. I was only able to see Dr. Jacobs once--on subsequent visits I saw Dr. Liang, who found cavities on almost every visit when I had never had a cavity before in my life. My friend's husband also experienced the same thing at this office--being told he needed multiple fillings when he had never had a cavity before. My current dentist has told me that I have teeth to watch, but if it was him he would wait to see if it got worse before going forward with a filling, which makes me think that Dr. Liang was a little over eager in her diagnoses. This office also charges $35 if you cancel within 24 hours, which is not uncommon, but my current dentist does not have this policy. Unlike the other reviews I never had a problem with the front desk staff, but overall I would not recommend this office based on my experiences here. read more

Horrible reception staff. Also I had been going here for several years and not once saw the actual Kenneth Jacobs until the last time I went. He always had one of his associates see me to the point that I though the associate was Dr. Jacobs. Also the receptionists are rude and hound you to no end when confirming your appointment but neglect to tell you that you need to call before a specific time. I was unaware that the office closed at 3:30 on fridays and when I called after hours to cancel and was unable to reschedule they are still sending me a bill. Then when I called twice to speak with someone they did not return my call. I've been a patient of Dr. Jacobs for decades. He has done excellent work on my teeth, and he has been a caring individual about my overall well-being as well. I've found his hygienists to be excellent - I've used 3 different ones over time. Yes, in the past there were some problems with front office attitudes.
