In planning, the team had been courteous and were able to get us scheduled for removal of a large tree in our front yard. Their quote was the lowest for the services quoted amongst the Webster approved companies we contacted. We offered to use our neighbor's driveway for access for vehicles but they shared it wasn't needed. There was a lot of rain prior to the service. They did a good job with the tree but destroyed our yard with tire tracks and the bobcat sunk the concrete in front of our house so it's not safe. I reached out to them immediately and they said we should call the city of Webster. I spoke with the street superintendent of Webster and he looked at it personally. He confirmed it was absolutely and clearly the fault of the tree company's equipment. Calling back Jackson, they shared they aren't responsible. I will not use nor recommend them again. I'll spend my money elsewhere and will share with my neighbor too. read more

We have used Jacksons a handful of times. They were great until they weren't! WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!! Make sure you dig into ALL of the reviews! I sure wish I had. After agreeing to an almost $3k bid, we were looking forward to having a huge branch removed that was hanging over our new pool equipment! The ONLY reason we called was to have this done but also had a handful of other jobs done while they were here. The first day they showed up, they started on some of the side jobs we requested and said they'd be back the following day to do the large branch in the back! The gentleman I spoke with "hadn't looked at the work order", but promised he would. The following day, they showed up and started removing the wrong branch!!! A $1300 branch! Obviously, I was upset and asked them to stop, I was worried that they too hadn't looked at the work order, called Kelly at the office, I didn't want to pay for the wrong branch to be removed. The guys left their equipment and said they'd be back the next day to get it! (In subsequent information Rachel shared with the collection agency, they claimed I "ran them off my property" COULDN'T BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH-ANDREW AND CLINTON WHO WERE DOING THE JOB WERE LOVELY- CLEARLY I DIDN'T RUN THEM OFF OR THEY WOULDN'T HAVE LEFT THE EQUIPMENT!!! When I called and spoke to Rachel-owner, she couldn't have been LESS PROFESSIONAL! After being promised that someone from their company would come to my house to LOOK AT WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT! They did the bid 6-8 weeks earlier, NOTHING- NO ONE HAS BOTHERED! In good faith, while we waited, we made payments to them for the work they did complete! ROUND AND ROUND with them, and they sent us to collections! Conveniently, they have the recorded conversation from the morning I was upset, but not the MULTIPLE CONVERSATIONS I HAD WITH KELLY ABOUT THE BRANCH WE NEEDED REMOVED!!!!! I shared MULTIPLE pictures and letters of explanation with the collections agency, but, like Jackson, they don't care and want their money!!! The work that they did was so minimal that I didn't notice it had happened until they billed me for the full amount! The estimator came out early in the morning around 6am and said that he was confused based on the pictures I sent and the information I provided. He then said that in order to come out to talk more with me that they charge $100 fee. Why didn't he knock on the door and discuss it with me when he was there. Everything they did was beyond our highest expectations. We had a rather large spruce fall on our house during the recent thunderstorms. Although they had a lot of service calls, Mike made it to our house that morning to do a quote, and his crew was at our house before 8 am the next morning to start work. The tree had fallen on our roof between the power weatherhead and the furnace flue. In under 30 minutes, they already had the tree safely limbed and dropped without any damage to even the ground. Cleanup was immaculate, despite the mudding conditions. They avoided any grass damage. They even removed the poison ivy they found around the tree stump before they ground the stump! The quote was very reasonable and quickly approved by insurance. Both Mike and Rachel visited the job site to make sure everything was going well and we were satisfied, even though they were running four crews that day because of the storms. The crew had advice for us on how to keep our remaining trees healthy and avoid more fallen trees and big limbs. We will certainly look to hire them again to come back and trim our other trees and keep those healthy. read more

I contacted Jackson Tree Service to get an estimate for work on an investment property. They were recommended by a colleague and I trusted the person and their judgment. I went to their website which states they service St Louis city. I submitted my information and received an email the next day as confirmation. I received an email from "Kelly" stating that my estimate could not be completed until the following week. I returned that email explaining that the timeline is fine due to not being under a deadline. I replied to her email stating the service that I need performed and a picture of the property where the work would be performed. She communicated that this is something that they can do and asked me for the physical address. I communicated the physical address of the investment property and encouraged her estimator to stop by anytime. The investment property is in a black neighborhood in North St. Louis. Immediately I got a response email indicating that they "do not do work in that area." I asked her to explain why this area is exempt from service in the city. She also stated that they only perform work in certain zip codes in the city and Jackson Tree Service is no longer interested in my request for services. It is interesting that they wanted my business up to the point that the service is in a minority empowerment zone. If I were investing in the Central West End or Tower Grove area I would not be writing this review. read more

They offered a fair price for all the work requested and even broke the items out individually so I could choose what and what not to do. They even offered a bundle discount. On the day of the work they showed up early with more workers than I expected. By time I got home they had been long gone and everything looked great. Jackson Tree Service did such a great job when we needed 2 trees removed from our yard on super short notice. We had to have our main sewer line replaced, couldn't use our water until this was done, and the plumbers couldn't dig the 14 foot hole to do so until our 2 trees in front yard were removed. It was stressful trying to figure out who would be able to remove trees so quickly. We called Jackson Tree Service the day we found out, it was already after hours, left a message, and someone called back within an hour saying they'd have someone come take a look and give an estimate the next morning! They were there by around 7:30am and said they could remove them the very next day. We were so surprised and grateful! The next day, they were even having issues with their equipment needing repaired, so they said they would have to be a little late, but they still came and got both trees completely removed and were gone by 2:00pm even though they said it would probably take the entire day. They brought backup equipment and had a repair person come to our house to fix the equipment they were having issues with, I would have never known that was even an issue if they didn't let me know. They were super professional and so great to work with! I can't say enough good things about them. Price was very reasonable as well. They made the process so painless. I was just told that Jackson Tree Service won't provide service in our zip code. They explained it was about range from their warehouse. When in the conversation it came out that they serve areas farther removed than ours, I pointed out the inaccuracy. So why won't you come in our neighborhood? A second reason was given: alleys. I pointed out that the alleys are smaller and more difficult to traverse in the (farther) zip code that is served (63139) than in ours (63112). This too, I pointed out, is not factual. Again I asked, why won't you come in our neighborhood? The office manager doubled down on repeating what we now both knew were lies. When I pointed out a difference between the two zip codes, one is predominantly white and the other is predominantly Black (and on the other side of St. Louis' red line) she said that I had "offended" her. But she still had no explanation, save the lies that had already been checked. So if it is not about racism (or classism), why would you provide service to 63139 and not 63112? I would not hire Jackson Tree Service. Let me tell you about my experience. Before I get started, let me tell you a little about myself. I know nothing about trees. I don't know how to tell types of trees apart. I also don't know what to expect a tree removal to cost. I am just a regular guy trying to remove a dying tree in my back yard, and one in the front yard that is starting to raise my driveway. I wanted a quote to get the 2 trees cut down in my yard, and reached out to a couple companies here on Yelp to take a look. Jackson Tree Service was one of these companies. My initial email was answered promptly by a friendly person named Rachel, who said they would come out and look at my trees. About a week later my first quote came. The quote from Jackson is very unprofessional. It is handwritten with scratch-outs, word inserts above the writing that they had forgotten, and contradicting information. It is difficult to understand what connects to what. I asked them if I could have a different quote, because I didn't want to get further along on my large financial decision with wrong information. So a couple days later I received a new hand-written quote, with the same unprofessional format. This time there are no scratch-outs, word inserts, or contradicting information. I was quoted $725 for my back tree, and $1400 for my front tree. I received a better price for my front tree, and went with the other company. I decided to have Jackson Tree Service cut down my back tree for $725 and asked the friendly person on the other side of these emails how I went forward. I was told that I had to scratch-out the parts of the hand-written quote (which turns out to be a contract) that I didn't want, sign it, and email it back to them. I complied with this, and was told they would reach out to me later for scheduling. I didn't hear a word from Jackson Tree Service for a while. I think 4 weeks went by until I received a voicemail from Rachel saying that they would be out tomorrow for the removal. This was a surprise since I was working tomorrow and hadn't received any contact for weeks. I called Rachel back, who assured me that everything would be OK, they have been in business for 20+ years, and I will be sent an invoice later for the work. I agreed to have Jackson Tree Service come out tomorrow to cut my tree down. Tomorrow comes and I get a phone call at work. A guy named Mike from Jackson Tree Service is asking me if I already cut down my tree, because they were there to cut it down. I guess Mike is the guy in charge. I told Mike that they are to cut down the back tree, as my acceptance email, and 'contract' states. He said he would have to call me back. I received a call from Mike a few minutes later who said there was a mix-up with the quote. Mike told me that my back tree would cost $1400 instead of the agreed upon $725. Mike said he would come out the next day to look at the tree and give me a call back. The next day comes, and I don't get a call back from Mike. I ended up calling him and asked if he looked into their mess-up. He said that he did, and that we both knew it was a mistake, and tried blaming me for the mix-up. Let me remind you that I know nothing about the tree industry. I told Mike that I was confused by his first quote and even asked for a second one because I didn't want an issue like this to happen. Mike proceeded to tell me I was trying to do something shady, and that I know nobody will cut the tree down for less than $1400. I know nothing about trees. When I told Mike that I think we should work something out because his company is at fault, and not honoring their 'contract,' he told me that he has the right to refuse anyone service, and that he wouldn't even do my tree for $1400 or any amount of money. I asked Mike where the legal information was on his contract and he said they would email me later. So here we are. I got wrong information from Jackson Tree Service, because they didn't handle my quote properly. This company makes no effort to own their mistakes, and make it right to their customers. I would suggest that you skip getting a quote from these guys and talk to a different company. read more
