Decent Mall, it's good to still have one in the East Bay!!…read more I usually get some good deals in JC Pennys, that might be the largest store in this mall along with Macys! There's a food court and movie theater downstairs. This mall isn't huge, decent sized to me. Sears used to be major in this mall, it even had auto center there. I remember getting tires put on there back in the day. Now it's gone, along with a lot of other stores. But there are still plenty of stores here, enough to keep this like a real Mall. And I always liked the location, right off of the 880 freeway in Hayward, very easy to get to!!!

Oh and let's not forget Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour! Uh yeah, I'm dating myself... BIT of HISTORY: Claimed as the West's Largest Climate-Conditioned retail development in 1957. The progressive Mid-Century shopping center was designed by the acclaimed architecture firm John Graham & Associates, known for projects as Seattle's Space Needle A shopping mall you wanted to hang out and stay awhile but with changing demographic, online commerce and sadly, crime it has evolved into what it is now. Just a shell of what it once was with a couple of stores I'd go for a quick visit. When in the area, I'll get a 15-min Chinese acupressure chair massage (Round One entrance). Extra star for the great memories of working at the mall (making friends) and learning what good customer service is compared to now. Sadly, most the anchor stores are gone like Sears with JcPenneys and Macy's hanging by a thread with minimal inventory.

Quality/Quantity - I used to frequent this mall often when spending time in San Leandro almost…read moredaily. Currently we/I only frequent Walmart, Home Depot, and of course, Drakes Brewery! But in the past I also frequented: Verizon (we are T mobile customers now). Togo sandwiches - Not a sandwich person any more. See's Candy (now closed) - Every holiday, buying gifts for the team. Ohana Hawaiian BBQ - Used to get my mid day musubi snack here. Dollar Store - I am not a customer with this brand any more. Atmosphere - Decent size mall. Plenty of parking. Many vendors in the parking lot on weekends. Service - Self service. Price - Reasonably priced. Caters to cost conscious people. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since the late 1980s. 2014 - 1 GBPS Internet.

Drakes, Walmart, Home Depot. Medium size outdoor strip mall…read more Ross and Dollar tree - there are so many different places here. One Hawaiian BBQ place I went to once too. Sadly the Sees Candies is closed. That was one of the nearest ones to where I live and probably one of the ones that has been around for the longest. Drakes is a highlight. If you have never been you need to go. One of the best places in this mall that isn't an uninteresting chain. Home Depot. Been to this one tons and tons of times. Love Home Depot. Many of the faucets and some pieces of lumbar are from this store. Had some carpet installed from here using their contractors. Walmart -- keeps me coming back. Mr Moose likes some things I can only easily find here. Meanwhile I grab some other things. Parking lot is big and there is always a spot open - maybe the hardest place to find a spot is near Walmart. Mall in general is clean and never had an issue when parking my car here.

Quality/Quantity - My wife tricked me into coming here with her…read more.. She said we will be in and out, but 2+ hours later... Can you add a bar, or brewery here!?! I do not even like Starbucks here... And I used to frequent them often. I did find a few shirts I liked at Marshalls, but did not buy as I just have way too many. Discovered Tesla charging stations "hidden" in the rear of the center, see picture. I have to admit, when we did NOT know better approximately 20 years ago, we used to come here often. But the environment has changed, and not for the better. Way busier, more car break-ins, more poor drivers, etc. And really no brands that I personally shop. Plus, we now have the Livermore outlets! Which is still my favorite! Atmosphere - 23 businesses, see website. Crazy busy on weekends. Limited parking. Potential car break-ins; see parking lot signs. Public restrooms near Starbucks, good luck. You do not even have a rideshare drop off/pick up area. Open 7 days a week. Service - Depends on where you shop. Price - Outlet pricing. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1998, we have been customers since then.

And I like it because I don't have to do long walks from one store to another. It has 3 food places, which include Starbucks. It's a closer outlet and it's not crowded. My type of outlet.

I've been here for Rigatoni's, Bank of the West (Now BMO), Health Unlimited, and iSushi. On the other side was a Safeway, Ross, Castro Valley Bowl along with other businesses. Update: after coming to the Village Shopping Center additional times since my above comment had been notarized, there are days or perhaps certain times of the day where the parking lot appears empty and it is easy to find parking, while on the majority of times / days I have been - they are usually packed with hardly any parking avail. Sometimes I have been lucky to snag a spot where someone was just about to back out. The spaces are kind of tight and narrow pathways, drive slowly! There are a lot of businesses that have remained here since I was a child and student at CVHS. Lots of new fronts and name changes to others. I haven't taken a stroll around the entire center, but there's a drug store, ice cream parlor, discounted home goods, apparel stores, fitness businesses, specialty goods and boutiques, bakeries, coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, the bowling alley is still here, nail salons, juicers, and more. Since its the holiday time, they had a tree lighting ceremony advertised. I thought that was a nice community event that might bring people and families together, though I questioned where the tree was going to be due to the tight space. I would want this center to continue to have a lot of business - good businesses here. I want to see CV's downtown area become an area that I would like to frequent or go to vs. driving to Danville or Walnut Creek or San Ramon. I hope there would be ways to create more parking around the area while increasing the businesses or being strategic in which new businesses should open to create a thriving atmosphere.

It's got a prime location right next to the I-880 & I-238 freeway junction. Why is it called "Greenhouse" Marketplace? Because before this triangular piece of land was developed into a shopping center, it was the home of rows of greenhouses. You could see them from the freeway. Long rows of glass topped greenhouses. Today it's home to a variety of stores, shops, and restaurants. It's a nice place to stop and take a break while passing thru town. Anchor stores include- Safeway, CVS, and FoodMaxx. What's negative about this place? There are some empty storefronts. The parking lot has a weird design. It probably looked fine on paper, but in reality, it's like "free style" driving. Cars are coming from different directions and there seems to be a lack of stop signs and/or traffic flow signage. Then some people think it's okay to just drive across empty parking spaces. I've never had a problem because I always stop before someone runs into me. But if you are in the area of Lewelling Blvd & I-880, drop by and visit the Greenhouse Marketplace. If you enter from Washington Ave, you will be greeted by a McDonalds and a Jack in the Box. Lots of free parking!
