I would not recommend Shine Electric…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn other homeowners. I specifically hired a licensed, insured electrical contractor because I wanted the job done correctly and wanted the company to stand behind its work. Before the installation, I spent TWO WEEKS researching and purchasing the perfect ceiling fans. I probably purchased 20-25 different fans from Home Depot, Lowe's, manufacturer websites, and other retailers before finally narrowing them down to the seven that matched my home. I wanted them all to match, have remotes, Bluetooth capability, the correct downrods, and waterproof ratings for my outdoor patio. I spent countless hours opening boxes, comparing finishes, making returns, and exchanging fans until everything was exactly right. Not one person from Shine Electric--not the technician, not the office, not the owner--ever told me there was a requirement that the fans have a specific UL/ETL certification in order for the company to warranty the installation. Instead, I found out AFTER the installation had already begun. The technician had already cut a hole in my ceiling and started the first installation before stopping and informing me that most of my fans supposedly did not meet the certification requirement, meaning Shine Electric would install them but would not stand behind their work. That conversation should have happened BEFORE I spent two weeks shopping. It should have been discussed during the estimate. It should have been written on the quote. It should have been emailed. It should have been texted. It should have been mentioned during any of our phone calls. Instead, it was mentioned only after my ceiling already had a hole cut into it. At that point, I told them not to install the remaining indoor fans if they weren't willing to warranty the work. Originally the quote was around $1,700-$1,800 for: * Seven ceiling fan installations * Installing an outdoor electrical receptacle * Patio ceiling fans Once five of the seven fan installations were removed, the price only dropped a few hundred dollars. Then another surprise came. I assumed the patio fans would replace the existing patio light fixtures, just like the bedroom fans replaced existing light fixtures. Instead, the technician informed me they planned to install entirely new ceiling boxes in different locations--including directly over my grill. Who puts a ceiling fan over a grill? That location made absolutely no sense for how we actually use our patio. Again, this was never discussed during the estimate. Because a hole had already been cut and work had already begun, I felt stuck finishing the remaining work. In the end, I paid approximately $1,100 for: * ONE patio ceiling fan * ONE outdoor electrical receptacle Had I known that from the beginning, I never would have hired Shine Electric for just that scope of work. After the installation, I contacted the owner and explained how disappointed I was. To his credit, he admitted the technician should have informed me about the certification requirement from the beginning. While I appreciated that acknowledgment, the responsibility doesn't stop with the technician. The company had multiple opportunities to communicate this requirement before I spent weeks shopping for fans and before work ever started. Then, to make matters even more confusing, about a week later I received a Thumbtack message from the owner referencing an updated amount of approximately $740--even though I had already paid the technician approximately $1,100 on the day of the job. No one ever contacted me to explain the discrepancy or whether I had been overcharged or was due a refund. The entire experience was filled with poor communication, changing expectations, surprise requirements, and pricing that never seemed transparent. If you're hiring professionals, you should not be learning critical installation requirements halfway through the job. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Shine Electric based on my experience.

The work order gave a detailed description of the problem. We were told the warranty company denied the claim but we needed the work done and the electrician was already at our home. The bill was almost $600 for two hours labor, two outlets and two junction boxes. We've asked for an itemized bill three times but have yet to receive one. We were charged the two hours labor because the electrician did not have all of the parts for the job and we live in a rural area. The warranty company paid the service call. To make matters worse, the outlet installed for the stove clearly stated it was for camper use only and was not even an outlet for a stove. The electrician had to come correct his mistake. Fortunately, we were not charged for the second service call. The work was finally completed and is in working condition, but we have serious reservations about the integrity of this company.
