Please read this whole thing! Jim is AMAZING! Before I get…read moreinto it let me tell you about my Lucy! Lucy is a rescued tri-pod and is about 3 years old. Lucy has a heart of gold, but when people first see her they would not know that. Lucy gets SOOO excited to see people, and even more so to see dogs. Her excitement however turns pretty quick into aggression, especially if another dog doesn't take her excitement well. She is food aggressive with my other dogs at home, and has a very dominant personality. I did not want Lucy to get more aggressive and we needed a fix. I especially wanted to be able to break that "tunnel vision" she gets, and make her pay attention to me, (and not look like she was going to attack someone).... which was almost impossible to do. I spent WEEKS researching trainers. Jim's private sessions are not only cheaper, but when he called me back before booking, he spent an hour on the phone with me, asking me questions and telling me how he works. I knew then that he was the one. First day of training Jim's excitement and positivity was contagious! Lucy trusted him right away. He gave her so much praise and love for doing something as little as sitting. Now she sits without me even asking! Then he did something that made my heart drop a little.... he brought out a prong (pinching) collar. I looked at him and thought no way. I let him give me the speech and then he put it on. Lucy magically stopped taking me on walks (pulling). The collar pinches. It does not puncture or hurt her. Lucy's demeanor did not change one bit! She was still happy and wanted to be there. She now walks with it everyday and it DOES NOT HURT HER! So we kept coming to trainings, kept seeing progress and things were amazing! At home I am breaking her tunnel vision, she is sharing the water bowl with her siblings, and she is listening to me, and getting lots of love and praise In return. On Our third visit, Jim asked if we were ready to bring his dog out. He warned me that with Lucy's aggression, we were going to have a battle here. He introduced the correction to us. When Lucy does not "leave it", the correction happens. This is a huge, quick jerk that brought my Lucy girl on the ground. Yes my heart dropped, and I wanted to walk away, cry and all the things ... but guess what, she got right back up and the next time we said leave it (to a dog aggressive dog looking at another dog), guess what she did.... left it. After she left it without a correction needed, Jim would love the heck out of her! "At a girl, good Lucy, yes!" Jim's wife stayed in the driveway, with their dog for an hour. Lucy did not bark, growl or try to fight. The correction worked. The correction was hard, and I can't even do it right yet.... but that is the difference between her attacking another dog, jetting out into the street or at a person! This is the only time Jim even raised his voice! Him does everything with lots of teats and celebrating. He takes the time to also corrects the human behavior, that may be confusing a dog. If I would have known that he was going to do that, I probably would have read the review and said OK never mind I'm not going. But let me tell you what a mistake that would have been. Every time I pull up to Jim's house, Lucy gets extremely excited. She knows who uncle Jim is, and she loves going there. Lucy is aggressive and that is the bottom line. But Lucy is going to be able to Live an incredible life, going to the dog park, playing with everybody, and not scaring people by lunging or bolting towards them and their dog. I would recommend Jim To anybody! He loves dogs, he knows dogs, and you can tell he has a true passion that he has done for years. This is the place to go, I will never be able to thank Jim enough for everything I have learned.I now know what Lucy needs from me to flourish!

He was severely aggressive towards other dogs and sometimes humans after being attacked when he was a pup. even though he grew up socialized, he was always frightened, spazed out in public and would 100% look for blood from any dog that was too close. DAYCARES WOULDN'T EVEN ACCEPT HIM!! We tried getting advice and watching videos online but nothing worked!..I now get complements about how well behaved and awesome my dog is.. By the end of our first session I was almost overwhelmed with the the fact that half the techniques you hear/watch about training and living with your dog, are actually ineffective/opposite of what really produces effects!!!! Even after a few sessions with consistency and use of the tools (highly recommend the training collar!!) we already had a changed dog. He has his confidence back and I truly have control and communication with him. Every session is a new hurtle. I would absolutely recommend!!

Last year, we got Ginger to be his pal. Unfortunately, we now live in Wyoming. Though we seriously thought about sending her to California, that was a bit overwhelming. But, low and behold, we found that Emily took her training to Colorado! Though it was a 5 hour drive each way, we knew the training, and wanted it for 7 month old Ginger as well. Ginger stayed with Emily alone for the first two weeks, then we brought Rudy down to join her for her last week of training. The refresher was excellent for him, and the two of them learned how to work together. The result is that I now have TWO well behaved pups. They are great off leash, which is important because they get their exercise on the golf course immediately behind our house. When golfers show up, the pups stay in place until the golfers move on. Perfect! Ginger was young when she received her training, so we continue to work with her on her skills. I would say that she is a good 90% of where I would like her to be. Excellent! A dog who knows its parameters and what is expected is a happy dog. Thanks so Emily's fantastic work, we are a very peaceful and content family. My arm stays in the socket because Ginger no longer darts for what ever catches her eye. The two of them walk beside me like champs. You really, really NEED to take your dog to Emily. You will both be happy you did.

She is an incredibly patient trainer…read moreand has really transformed our 5 year old French Bulldog, Nugget, into a different dog in such a short time. Ever since Nugget was a pup, he dealt with anxiety and listening skills (as in not having any) and didn't have any way to cope with his problems. He would charge at people and dogs, which eventually got him kicked out of a local boarding facility. We tried everything from medications to CBD oils and nothing would work. My husband and I travel a lot so we needed to come up with another solution. From our first phone call with Emily, we knew that she would be able to help us so we signed Nugget up for a 3 week board and train program. Drop off was smooth and we immediately felt comfortable leaving our dog with Emily for a few weeks. There was no direct communication during the 3 weeks (no news is good news plan), but Emily is very good about posting on the EC Dog training Instagram. Seeing Nugget's progress every few days was very helpful to us and put our minds at ease! We've been home with Nugget for over a week now and I can't even begin to describe how much he has changed! With simple commands and use of his e-collar we can eat meals in peace while he's in a "placed" position, he sleeps in his crate overnight (8-9 hours), and he walks on a shorter leash without pulling ahead like he used to do. We can also put Nugget in a "placed" position when people or dogs are around and he has learned to be calm and release any anxiety that used to cause him to lash out. He's had amazing progress so far and with the tools that Emily has instilled in us, Nugget will definitely be able to continue down a positive path to becoming a well-behaved doggo!

My husband and I were growing increasingly frustrated with her. We have a four year old and a busy household so we needed help and quickly! I contacted Kelly about an evaluation and she was able to provide one within the week. I didn't sign up right away despite how impressed I was with Kelly's interaction and assessment with/of her. About a month went by and I needed to find somewhere to board our girl as we had a family trip planned to Hawaii. I contacted Kelly for a recommendation and she offered to board our pup and start training her! Anyways, long story short, we came home to a totally different puppy. Now the tough part, Kelly had to train me! We are still working together and I am learning more everyday about how to be the pack leader. Portia is thriving and we are so happy to have a dog that actually listens. We are going to start off leash training soon and I am excited to see how we progress. I highly recommend Kelly and the added bonus is that her awesome puppy Dean comes to some of the training sessions too. She is in central SD but I think she will travel a reasonable distance to work with you and your doggy!

When we pull into the parking lot in the mornings she perks up because she is so excited to go play with her friends. All of the staff members are so kind, knowledgeable and helpful but, we would like to particularly thank Leela (hope I spelt it right). When Olive was out sick for 2 weeks and ran out her promotion days she so gratuitously extended us for the days we were unable to attend. She calls promptly with any issues that might be going on so we can make sure everything is always okay with our baby girl. Overall we are so happy we found City Bark and not to mention the HOURS! My fiancée and I are both nurse so it is very helpful that City Bark opens before we need to be at work and closes after we get off! We love bringing Olive here and think the photos can attest for how much she loves it too

He is not the easiest dog but they are so patient with him and love him so much. He's so happy to go in every time, which is especially impressive because he usually has separation anxiety when he's away from me. I know some of the other reviews are mixed, but I want to say every dog daycare has its issues, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. It's not the "nicest" looking place, but I've taken Moose to fancier daycares where he was just stressed out, and I did not like how the staff treated him. I love City Bark's staff because they go out of their way to get to know each and every dog, and I just couldn't be more impressed with how they've taken care of Moose and how much they love him. He's collectively spent months of his life there since I travel so much, and I always love to look on the webcam and see him getting love. I also love how communicative they are - they have a text line and are so responsive which I appreciate. I can't imagine taking Moose anyplace else!
