I stopped by Nick's after a day of work in Greensboro. Located in a small building, hidden within…read moreis some yummy chicken and some very kind people. Ms. Gracie took my order, and she was extremely warm and pleasant. I couldn't decide what I wanted as my second side item, so I listed the ones I was interested in and she gave me the rundown. I settled on yams, and I'm glad I did! I had the chicken tender plate with French fries, a roll, and, as I just mentioned, yams. I had sweet tea to drink and ranch to dip my tenders in. The French fries must have just come out, because mine were so hot and salty they almost melted in my mouth. They were solid crinkle cut fries. My sweet tea was so delicious I got an extra large refill for the road - tastes like a diabetic coma in the best possible way. Ms. Gracie did not steer me wrong on the yams -- they were sweet and buttery and delicious. The roll was a standard, Sister Schubert type dinner roll, but they'd kept it warm, so it went well with the meal. The breading on the chicken tenders was a little disappointing; it didn't stick to the chicken super well and fell away in soft pieces. Not super crispy. However, the seasoning was good -- a little peppery. The ranch was on the salad dressing-y side, but tasted good with the extra hot French fries. There's not a lot of game in town in Greensboro, but Nick's would be worth a visit in a larger town, too. Go check it out!

The food was honestly really good--fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth coming back for. However,…read morethe customer service at the window needs improvement. The attitude felt unprofessional and a bit off-putting, which kind of took away from the overall experience. I believe good service matters just as much as good food, so I hope that gets better. If they can fix that, this place would easily be a top spot.

BBQ is a gem of the American countryside dining. Partially, because the only other alternative is…read moretypically fast food. But, that would not be a fair description of this tradition: BBQ is an incredible style of cooking and spots like this represent this tradition well. BBQ 65 is conveniently located right off the interstate in a gas station in a saloon like building that has a beautiful character from the outside. Open since 2010s, this spot has started to earn its place in the BBQ world, albeit being newer to it. There is an indoor seating inside near the gas station shop aisles. The ribs are cooked well with a nice wood profile, but neither very delicate nor particularly notable for their flavor of the meat itself, with smoke notes dominating. The quality of pork itself and the slightly tougher preparation could be better to rival Alabama's best. The BBQ sauce is loaded up with vinegar, completely overpowering the meat if consumed together, although to be fair, this may be a matter of preference for some BBQ lovers. The star of the show is potato salad which was perfectly balanced on its acidity, sweetness and overall flavor. As a whole, BBQ 65 is a pleasant stop to experience some traditional southern cooking and support a local business instead of tossing money into another "by the exit" fast food chain.
