We wanted to try something new since we were on a road trip, but maybe should have skipped this place. Typing this review as we go, because we're off to a bad start. Huge Mac & cheese signs outside. Mac & cheese banner behind the counter where you order. We order it, to which the cashier (her name tag says Whitney) says, in these exact words, "We don't have that no more" and proceeds to take our order with the politeness of a dead fish. She gives up our cups and walks away. We are short one cup, although the receipt is correct. We wait for someone to come back to give us another cup. No one does, so I reach behind the counter to get it myself. Then the coke is out. Again, we wait at the counter for help. People walk back and forth and finally I say, "Excuse me, can she get some coke from the other machine? This one is out." The girl (not Whitney, someone else) says, "We're out of coke. Is there not a sign?" I tell her obviously not, or I wouldn't have asked, just like there's a sign advertising mac and cheese even though they "don't have that no more." As I type this, we've have been waiting for our food for 8 minutes. They have since put a sign on the coke machine, and put one on the Mac and cheese sign saying "out." Sarcasm at it's finest. The lobby is very pretty though, and decorated for Christmas. After 16 minutes, the food came out. It was piping hot and fresh. AND DELICIOUS. Or at least mine was. My chicken sandwich has the thickest chicken breast ever and it was so juicy. The mashed potatoes and gravy I chose for my side was so good that I practically inhaled it. As for my family's reviews on their meals: -- Kollin's chicken sandwich and fries: "loved the sandwich, hated the orange stuff on the fries. That should've been an option to put on or not." -- Kris' triple burger and fries: "I liked everything. The burger, the fries, the seasoning, all of it." Zoey's kids cheeseburger and fries: two thumbs up, no verbal comments. Lol Kylie's chicken tenders and fries: "mediocre. They put popcorn cheddar seasoning on the fries." In summary: food was good. We really wanted to like this place. The place smelled very greasy upon walking in...like old sticky grease. Service was nice and polite, but unfortunately we didn't get what we ordered. We ordered one big jack and one bigger jack. The 2 burgers looked exactly the same. Also we ordered red raspberry vinaigrette for our salad and were given ranch. Also, the food just didn't taste right for a typical fast food place. Everything just tasted off. read more

Service is terrible for starters. Very rude employees whether it's the drive thru on inside. Valentine's Day they had biscuits in shape of hearts they were still serving 4 days afterwards. The food taste like it's been cooked they day before instead of the day of. It's very sad this restaurant is ran this way, Jacks is usually always good no matter where we go. read more

Sorry Jack's but your chicken sandwich with Alabama white sauce is the nastiest sandwich I've tasted in a long time. The combination of flavors just didn't work. There was something off with the white sauce. It just wasn't good. The sweet tea wasn't good either. It was watered down and wasn't sweet at all. Lastly, the fries were lukewarm. I'm sorry to say this location has crashed and burned. It's such a shame as it used to be my favorite location. Used to have friendly workers, food was always prepared with care and always accurate. Now the workers are grumpy and on my last order (chicken fingers with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy) they served me thin burnt chicken and lukewarm potatoes. And even failed to put napkins or cutlery in the bag. But worst of all, 5 hours after eating I got violently ill. With the worst stomach cramps I have ever had and vomiting. What can I say? There is a reason for the consistent low ratings. Every time I go there, there is new staff. Also, the dining area is never clean - trash is on the table or floor. The food is mediocre for the price. I go to other Jacks locations where the food is good, so it must be this particular location. I love eating at new places, but, sometimes I enjoy the simple things. I was in Gardendale dropping something off and decided to drop into Jacks to try the new sausage breakfast sandwich. The sausage had a spicy flavor and served on my favorite bread, Texas Toast. We love Jacks breakfast. The biscuits, eggs, grits, gravy and bacon are amazing. The bacon cheeseburger is my favorite.

This place is so terrible... you could order a water and wait for an hour for it. The sign says "under new management"... WHO?!? Whoever it is should find another career. I went to this location tonight to purchase chicken after being told by KFC that they were out of chicken. The man at the drive-thru speaker told me it would be a 25-minute wait on chicken. I worked for Jack's as a manager for 10 years and I know how things are supposed to be done. Why is fresh product not being cooked and rotated? There was no one inside and only one car in line in front of me, who ordered 5 plain cheeseburgers from what I heard repeated back to them. It's not hard to keep chicken up! read more

Went to Jack's this morning for breakfast, and the drive-thru line was packed. Instead of waiting in the drive-thru I went inside where the wait was longer. I probably sat inside to order for 15 minutes and waited another 15 minutes for food I did not receive because I no longer wanted the food. The manager was nice regarding giving me a refund, but the workers were very unpleasant. I would have rather went to Chic Fil A breakfast and waited because at least then I would've got a better experience. I do not recommend this location at all for food services! read more

Went in last night to get dinner to take home for me & my wife. With my 2-piece chicken & biscuit, I asked THREE times for a BUTTERED biscuit. Upon arriving home, found the biscuit NOT buttered. Didn't matter as I was unable to eat it...when biting into the biscuit, the taste was if it was made sometime the year before. I ordered a side of fries to go along with my chicken and my wife had fries with her burger. Both of our side of fries were chewy - just like the biscuit, they tasted old. I don't mind paying for food, but if you are going to give me the leftovers that have been sitting there all day then at least let me know so I can decide if I want to waste time having to go to another restaurant. The chicken biscuits were my favorite, but now at least half of the time the chicken is rubbery and unetible. My wife and I were starving so we pulled in for a quick bite. This jacks is conveniently located right off the interstate at the mt olive/gardendale exit. On a Sunday afternoon it was practically empty. This location was clean and the food prepared quickly after ordering. The customer service was good not great. Food is average at best, has nothing that sets itself apart from any other food restaurant. If you looking for a quick, cheap meal and don't mind lack of taste then this is your place. read more
