The atmosphere was electric and this is how live music should be. The Green Man is one of the best bars I have ever visited anywhere in Europe. Great staff, friendly customers and a welcome haven from all those awful themed bars and pubs that roll out those horrible plastic environments. If you are in Besancon check it out.

The staff are friendly, the patron a mix of old timers, local college students and tourists. There's a fair amount of outdoor seating for smokers during warm weather. The inside is small, however they can open up additional area on busier evenings. We were there on a Sunday and they only had the area immediately in front of the bar open. Best place for a Guinness in Neuchatel!

The patrons are a mix of tourists and locals. The staff speaks English...in fact one woman told me prefers to so she can practice. I have had a burger and chicken Tandoori salad, both excellent. Full bar, lots of beer and espresso for after. They have live music sometimes, but right now Johnny Winter's "Stone Cold Boogie" is playing on the sound system. I am from Austin Texas and this bar could be located on South Congress....except folks speak French.

We ordered two blonde beers, they were served nice and cold with a slice of lemon. The service was great. The owner was attentive and our waitress was spot on. Beers here are a little more than average for the area 3.30 euro and up. We've been in the Franche Comte for 6 days now and have been paying on average 2.25 euro for a beer. Overall it was a good dejauner (lunch) stop. Would definitely go back to try more on the menu.
