He was a courteous gentlemen, but it was hard to hear him on the phone. Nonetheless it worked out. Tech removed the broken key, made a few spares, provided me some helpful information, made payment and off he went. Hint: Technician works out of his van which makes things very convenient. I don't live in Kansas City, I actually live in Los Angeles, however I needed to copy a Wink Haus key (which is rare in the US but common I think in Europe). In any case, I found Heart of America Locksmith through Yelp and Randy had posted a picture of a key blank that was similar to what I was looking for. I called and I asked if he could make a copy based on a photo which he said he wouldn't (in retrospect, copying a key from a photo is probably illegal now that I think about it). However, he did offer to look at the pictures of my key and see if he had a blank that matched which he could send to me. After I sent him photos of my key however, he determined that the blanks he had were similar but not the same and sent me a picture of what he had. He then gave me a suggestion for which blank I might be looking for though.

Even worse, we tried pushing the car to move it and the wheel got locked in a terrible spot. We spent hours on the phone with AAA (they wouldn't tow it to a safer location unless we took it to a dealer/shop). All shops were closed so we couldn't call anyone to see if they'd take the car. We talked to numerous locksmiths who advertised 24 hour services, yet wouldn't come out that day. I don't blame someone for not wanting to work on a Sunday afternoon, but calling yourself a 24 hour locksmith is a bit disingenuous, eh? Not only that, but two other shops quoted twice what this guy quoted us, and still wouldn't come out that day. Sent in a message via yelp to PMJ locksmith and got a response within a minute (literally). Called them up and was told he would be out after his current job, gave me a fair estimate. True to his word he called me after his current job and was on his way. Fixed the car in absolute darkness with nothing more than a small flashlight to see. Stuck to his quote and fixed the car right up. Not only did he call when he said he'd call and show up when he said he would, he was very friendly on top of it. We gave him a 25% tip and I still think he deserved more than that. Can't recommend him enough.
