Picked up a large order for a dinner. We ordered with delivery and the order came much earlier than expected! Burritos were HUGE, though not much else to distinguish it besides that. I am a California native though so the burrito bar is just naturally higher. But given the cost that we paid for it, I'd have like to be wow-ed a bit more, but it seemed to just be a normal burrito that just slightly scaled up the proportions instead of taste or ingredients. Overall, solid, but not that versed in other options for this kind of meal in this city. This may be solid, or may be not the best option for the price. Jury is still out. read more

The carne asada burrito was decent. The guacamole portion was pretty small for $7, but the chips were delicious. Overall a pretty good meal.

First time here. Thought this was still El Rey which I never tried but seems it has changed. The chips and guacamole were good but the rest of the food - chicken quesadilla and seafood rice dish were really not. read more

This was a fun takeout adventure. First, be prepared to have leftovers. The burrito was HUGE (the bag was heavier than when I first lifted it) so you definitely get your money's worth. Just like all other Stephen Starr restaurants, the chips and guac were great. The frito pie burrito was delicious and I loved the extra crunch inside. Warning, it's definitely in the spicy side (and I have a somewhat high tolerance for spice/heat). read more

The food was pretty good and service was good but unfortunately my boyfriend got food poising from ceviche and was sick for two days. We got nachos and they were good and I had tacos which were okay. They did cooperate with us and took it seriously though. read more

I can only speak to their food via delivery through Door Dash but it was good, fresh, large portions, and authentic. I ordered the Baja Shrimp burrito, which was (as everyone else is stating), HUGE! Fresh ingredients, but the cilantro rice was a bit too bland for my taste. I added some salsa and that jazzed it up a bit. Their packaging is like something out of Tiffany's with the pretty colors and exceptional wrapping. I think I'll try another style next time as again, this one was a bit too bland for me. Their chips are crunchy, salty, and freshly fried, and their salsas (we got the trio) were also fresh and tasty, but not too spicy, (at least according to my taste). We will try them again. Great value for the price. read more

First time trying it for lunch. Looks like they operate out of El Ray and are quite popular. We saw multiple people coming out with to-go orders. I first thought the prices were slightly higher for their burritos and bowls but I then read that they do not charge for extra stuff such as sour-cream and guac. How nice! Prices will be between 12 and 15, depending on what you get. I got Mission bowl with veggies and my husband got K-Town. If you get mission bowl or burrito, you will pay couple of bucks extra for protein, but you will not pay extra for sour-cream, cheese, and guac. I thought the food was really good, clean ingredients, reasonable portion. So come hungry. One star off for them not giving disposable fork or spoon or anything with to-go orders. They said they ran out. I also saw a roach on their outside table (which is technically El Ray outside patio). I know I know--I was outside....Bugs are fine. Roaches are not. Sorry. read more

Best burrito I've ever had! The package it comes in is super dope too. Definitely will be back for more

I ordered takeout from Jackass Burrito. I ordered a mission grilled chicken burrito with salsa. My order arrived quickly. The burrito was large and packed with flavor. It was delicious! It's a full meal with the salsa being a nice crispy compliment. I'll definitely order from them again. read more

I got burritos from here with my partner and sister and we all were super impressed and VERY full. These burritos are like 2 pounds I swear - they are beefy, stuffed to the brim, and absolutely worth every single penny. I would even venture to say that these burritos have made their way to securing one of my top picks for best burritos in the Philly area. The menu has a decent variety of interesting options, and we each picked a different one: I got the Mission style (cilantro lime rice/black beans/salsa roja & pico de gallo/cheese/crema/guacamole) my sister got the K-Town (korean beef/kimchi/cilantro lime rice/refried beans/grilled scallions/shredded lettuce/crema) and my partner got the Frito Pie (ground beef/cilantro lime rice/black beans/fritos/jalapeño queso/salsa roja/pickled jalapeños). We each took a bite out of each other's and it was super hard to pick a favorite. I'm usually really skeptical of a Korean-Burrito hybrid, but this was one actually legit - the beef was flavorful and the kimchi was actually good, which is something I feel like most non-Korean joints can't seem to nail down. The fritos option in the burrito my partner got was really good too, and very unique - you can also add takis or fritos to yours if you get the Mission style. I regret not doing that the first time, but definitely will be back anyways for more, that extra bit of crunch in my partner's burrito from his fritos was so good. I can't praise this new place enough - Ordering online was super easy and I thought all of the burritos were priced reasonably, considering just how much you get. We were stuffed for hours, and were barely hungry for dinner. The packaging is also super cute and we couldn't get over the mascot. Bonus points for the wraps holding up - it's always kind of sad when your burrito starts to fall apart in your hands because of the tortilla ripping through but ours stayed pretty strong for the most part! If burrito bowls are more your thing though, no worries - they offer those as well. read more

I've been curious about Jackass Burritos ever since hearing about its addition to the Stephen Starr empire in Philadelphia a few months ago. I've been a fan of Starr's restaurants for 15 years, and I love a good vegetarian burrito, so I was excited to try (especially given all the glowing reviews). So I'm sad to say this is probably the first time I was disappointed by a Stephen Starr experience. Not that the burrito WASN'T good - I got the grilled vegetable mission style burrito with salsa verde and corn & poblano, and it was good, but...that's it. It was decently spicy, but nothing crazy (my partner's burrito with habanero salsa, on the other hand, was very intense). The level of cheese and crema verged on decadence - not a negative, because I don't deny myself culinary indulgences, but more an observation. The effect of a heavier level of dairy will mute some of the other flavors and spice though. The flavors in the lime cilantro rice, for example, were so subtle that I honestly would have thought it was regular white rice if you didn't tell me otherwise. The beans, pico de gallo and guacamole were all okay, but the grilled vegetables mostly seemed to consist of onions (and not all of those grilled all that well through either). It was generally underwhelming relative to my expectations. It's not that I wouldn't eat a Jackass burrito again, but if I did, I'd get habanero sauce as the only topping. And really, I've had vegetarian burritos as good and better in my West Philly neighborhood, so I wouldn't travel into CC just for this. Since I haven't seen other reviews for the grilled vegetable burrito, I figure that their meat-based options are superior (not that I'll ever know for sure). So to all vegetarians- skip the jackass ghost kitchen, and just get the vegetarian tacos from El Rey. It's been two years since I've had them, but I still remember thinking that they were the best tacos I've ever had. read more

I found myself craving that baja shrimp burrito again so we placed another order with Jackass Burrito. This time, we also tried the frito pie burrito and also a more traditional al pastor burrito (I don't believe this was an option last time so it was nice to see a new menu item). We again ordered the guac and salsa trio. This was more than enough food for two meals - one very hefty dinner followed by a slightly less hefty dinner the next day. I'm a fan! read more

I ordered a burrito from here and although it was tasty, it was killer spice. I didn't realize the hot sauce I added would be THAT spicy, or that they would add so much. I usually love spicy food and have a pretty good tolerance but this was too much and made it unedible. I added a ton of guacamole and sour cream to try to fix but to no avail. I wish I had but a note to make it less spicy, but I didn't expect this. Otherwise a good place-- fast delivery, big portions, lots of chips. read more

Frito Pie Burrito hands down the best burrito I ever had. If I had to make one change or have an option I would like to have the twisted honey bbq fritos instead of the regular ones. But overall the flavor and the size of the burrito was amazing. You can easily share this burrito or eat it for lunch and have the other side for dinner. I can't wait to try the shrimp burrito, thank you jackass burrito for having delicious food. read more

Jackass burrito is El Rey. Refer to their reviews and it will be completely different than "jackass burrito." My stomach hurt after my meal and the food did not have flavor. I was excited to see a new Starr restaurant in the form of burritos open up in Philly. A year of pandemic has left me looking for a little change in take-out options. My partner and I ordered the salsa trio with chips, Baja shrimp burrito, and K-Town burrito. The packaging was very cute, but the food was unfortunately a flop. Starting with the salsa trio ($6). Highly disappointing. The salsa verde was ok, just a little spicy but not much flavor. The pico de gallo was almost frozen solid, so that was a huge let down.. and then the salsa roja smelled and tasted extremely off. I couldn't put my finger on what I was tasting but it smelled like burning rubber. The chips were excellent though.. too bad there wasn't much use for them. I thought the K-Town burrito ($14) was ok. It had Korean beef, kimchi, rice, refried beans, grilled scallions, lettuce. My partner, who is Korean, was extremely disappointed in the flavor. He disliked it so much he did not want to finish the burrito. We enjoy Korean fusion foods but he felt there was a bad aftertaste from the kimchi. There wasn't much meat in the burrito although it was hefty overall. The Baja shrimp burrito ($14) was also ok. The fried shrimp was buffalo flavored which was fine, but I was expecting a different profile from the name "Baja". Nothing really stood out in the burrito, it was a little boring despite the description. All in all, a very expensive pair of basic burritos with nice names and packaging. We paid about $45 after tip and delivery. Part of me wants to try their mission style burrito or the frito pie, but this experience left me a little sad. :( read more

Not worth it for the price. Got the Baja shrimp lettuce bowl which turned out to be 6 fried shrimp, handful of lettuce and half an avocado for $16. It felt like a side salad in my hand...it filled up a quarter of the box it came in so that must be saying something. The ingredients are basic so I wasn't even paying for "quality." If anything I was paying for the colorful packaging.... read more

We got late night Friday take out here on a whim and the burritos are so good!! We got the Ktown Burrito and the Baja Shrimp. The burrito wrap seemed very fresh which was a big plus, wasn't hard/stale at all but soft and chewy in a good way for both burritos. K-Town Burrito - 4/5 Very kimchi tasting, so if you dont like kimchi you might not like it, but I loved it. A bit more sour than expecting but it complements well with the fatty kbbq flavored meats. I think the meat could have been cut a little smaller for easier biting but overall not too bad. Tastes like Korean bbq and sides in a burrito! Baja Shrimp - 5/5 Shrimp was cooked perfectly, avocado was fresh, and the sauce they used was so good! No complaints here. Tortilla Chips We also got some tortilla chips with our meal and they were very fresh. There was a very spicy salsa, a milder green salsa, and a sweet corn salsa (you could tell the corn was cut from a cob), all salsas were very good. read more

I ordered from Uber Eats or Postmates, one of them - and was surprised by the packaging of Jackass Burrito! I felt like I had made a purchase for something other than food with the pop of colors and very well-packaged burritos, all with their own cardboard boxes. The options for burritos are innovative with their different fusion flavors. I loved that there's a vegetarian option as well. However, some have mentioned that the burritos are "HUGE"; I can't say I necessarily agree with that, but I was full after eating it. read more

tl;dr an unpretentious ghost kitchen cooking up a whimsical assortment of heavy, tasty burritos The self-proclaimed "best burrito on the internet," Jackass Burrito clearly doesn't take itself too seriously -- that is, until it comes to flavor. This Stephen Starr ghost kitchen operates out of El Rey for daily takeout and delivery, offering a selection of classic and adventurous burrito and bowl offerings. This past weekend, I finally found the chance to give Jackass a whirl. My partner and I opted to share two burritos: the K-town and the Mission Style with Carnitas. The former doubled down on the Korean inspiration, complete KBBQ-style beef, and pickled kimchi. While I found the kimchi a bit overwhelming flavorful, I nonetheless loved the texture that it added. Meanwhile, the Mission Style was a surprisingly sophisticated take on the standard burrito: loaded with fix-ins and dripping with deliciousness, as any good burrito should be. Upgrading to carnitas was absolutely the move -- crispy charred bits were unexpected but wholeheartedly welcomed. I was particularly fond of the complementary sauces (which I asked for on the side) The salsa verde and pineapple salsa gave some flair to even the tortilla-heavy bites. The habanero sauce was surprisingly subtle in flavor apart from its blazing heat (expect hiccups). Each burrito was well-wrapped and neatly packaged into a cardboard takeout container. Moreover, I can picture stretching these burritos out over two meals. My biggest gripe was with the online ordering process: the "7-17 minute" predicted prep time ended up past 30 minutes. On top of that, we didn't get any napkins with the bag (an absolute tragedy considering how messy these bad boys were). At nearly $30 for both, the burritos definitely run closer to NYC prices than Philly. Yet, I was thoroughly pleased once I got to my burrito -- and I can't imagine not going returning for round two. read more

Very basic overly-packed "American sized" burrito lol nothing special. Got it once, it was nothing memorable.

JB offers massive burritos that are usually tasty, but have inconsistent quality. Over the several times that I've had their Mission Style Grilled Chicken burrito, some have been great, but other times I've gotten a chicken bone and old-tasting guac. For a $12 burrito, I expect more. read more

the best burrito in center city. Cheers. Frito pie burrito is Muy bueno and packaging is cool

I moved to Philly almost 7 years ago after spending 8 years in California and have had a hard time finding a truly satisfying burritto in the city. This is the closest I've found to satisfying those cravings. Had the chicken mission burrito with salsa verde and corn & poblano add-ons and it was delicious. Also got the salsa trio side and loved all 3. Best Tomatillo based salsa I've been able to find in center city, and the salsa rojas is also very tasty with a nice kick. will be back read more

Fun flavor options available - got the K-Town and Frito pie. K-town had a strong flavor profile. Frito pie was also good and tasted exactly how it should. Besides the different sauces and add ins, nothing too special about the burritos. Also, this is probably due to them recently opening, but the timing for expected "ready-time" for pick up was way off. When we ordered it was 55 minutes, email confirmation had 30 minutes, then received a text 10 min after ordering that it was ready for pick up. Required a 20 sec ride in the microwave when we got home. Not a huge deal - but something to improve with more orders/open days. read more

Very yummy burritos! Definitely expensive, but I was able to make two meals out of one burrito since it's so large, so you can make an argument that the price is fair. I've had a hard time finding really good Mexican food since moving out here from LA. I ordered the shrimp burrito and the mission style burrito. This place hands down is good! Delivery food is ALWAYS cold. Multiple reviews on Grubhub say the same thing. It's a shame because it could be good if they understood that the ingredients in a burrito need to be hot when assembling it. For $14 per they could get it together. read more

The food is amazing, the online ordering process could definitely be improved and the customer service stinks.

Absolutely perfect burrito. The K-Town was exactly what I hoped it would be, the beef and Kimchi were a perfect compliment.

Honestly one of the worst burritos I've had since moving back from Southern California. I realize that's a lot to compare to but this place feels like the ultimate cultural appropriation without any regard for what the actual food should taste like. What an absolute farce. Bland, and overpriced. Also, who the hell puts sauces inside the burrito, closes it, and then delivers it. Why in gods name would you mix 4 different sauces on the inside of a burrito. Why would you even do one? Where the hell did these people learn how to make burritos? read more

I'm so disappointed by this place due to the abundance of great reviews & having poor quality food myself. I was really looking forward to the burrito bowls from here because they sound great on the menu! After ordering 2 bowls, starving, I went to pick up my order and was surprised to see at least 30 other order bags waiting to be picked up. It made me feel like this place is probably really good, which is why so many people are ordering from here! I ordered the K-Town bowl & the Baja Shrimp bowl. I'm still so disappointed The beef in my K-Town bowl was ALL cartilage. I'm not even exaggerating.. it was ALL cartilage. The shrimp in my Baja Shrimp bowl was SO salty and overall the bowls were both extremely underwhelming and didn't have much flavor. I regret ordering from here on a night that I was tired & starving. Scared to give it a second chance even though it's so close and conveniently located for me. read more
