We just received our photos from our son's third birthday year, and they are super cute. We did…read morethem at Humboldt Park, and Laurie had scouted every little micro-location, including a picnic under an impressive tree, skipping stones in the little lagoon, complete with lily pads in the water, and the exact location on the bridge where the Willis Tower peeks through the tree canopy. We were wrangling a three-year-old, a Rhodesian Ridgeback-boxer-beagle and a pitbull, and she made everything look relaxing and joyful. All three babies had fun and looked good. So did my shy husband and I. Laurie also did some light retouching at my request, and the results looked natural and beautiful. She is exceptionally good at retouching. She is personally a sweetheart as well. I am so glad I met her 11 years ago, and I hope to come back to her at least every year. She always blows us away!

From start to finish, she was professional, enthusiastic, fun to work with, and of course, best of all, the photos were WONDERFUL! She was incredibly understanding and flexible as I was trying to arrange my Naperville wedding from out-of-town - I know it's not easy doing everything by phone! She was willing to meet with my mother for a viewing of her sample albums, and was communicative with me at each step. At the wedding itself, she was discreet and TIMELY with family photos. Within the past year, I attended the free 1-day photography class introductions at Chicago…read morePhotography Center and Richard Stromberg's; however, I didn't walk away feeling super excited about signing up for the 7 week classes. First, I live a busy lifestyle and didn't have 7 consecutive weeks available for me to dedicate. Secondly, the content in these 1-day classes was taught in a way that made some points of learning photography even more confusing. Therefore, I continued my search and stumbled upon Parrish, who was willing to offer private photography classes. Parrish connected with me prior to my session to better understand my skill level, what I was hoping to gain from the class and the type of camera I own. This allowed him to prepare accordingly for our session to ensure it was a success. I was impressed with his technical knowledge yet more impressed with his ability to tailor his message in a non-technical way to ensure I was gaining knowledge. He is a very charismatic person, which made it even more engaging to learn and ask questions along the way. I ended the session feeling more excited about taking photos, gained much greater knowledge on photography, and learned how to better use my camera for taking great photos. Parrish additionally offered to critique my photos after the session to further enhance my knowledge.

I grew up the daughter of a professional art photographer. I have spent a lot of time looking at art photography. Marc has a wonderful eye for composition and emotion. When you look at his work you feel in your gut what is playing out in the pictures. He then combines that talent with a great eye for lighting and beauty. He is also meticulous in his preparations. Marc took great care to understand everything he could about our desires for the photos. This included not only who and what we wanted photographed, but he also sought to understand the mood we wanted portrayed. He probed us to understand our family and friend relationships so he knew who to focus extra time on when it came it to candid shots. He helped us understand how the timeline of the day would play out and how it would effect the photography making sure we would plan in the moments we needed to get specific shots.
