As soon as I knew I was moving to Greensboro, I looked for some of my favorite national chains and…read morefound them right here. The first place worth mentioning is REI. I usually park nearby, peruse the garage sale items, then go on a stroll around the whole shopping center. While I do like Whole Foods and will go there for certain specialty items, I tend to spend a little less at the gigantic Harris Teeter. There's a huge selection of clothing stores, you can get a legit (if pricey) massage at Hand and Stone, get your haircut, see a movie, and grab a great dinner from a wide range of restaurant options. This might be the most upscale shopping center in town.

In the 80s and 90s, the mall we went to the most in Greensboro was Four Seasons Mall (now Four…read moreSeasons Town Centre). It went downhill and beginning in the 2000s, we went to Friendly Center instead. This has been a general trend in America where people have shifted from going to traditional indoor malls to outdoor malls, some integrated with mixed-use developments and/or repurposed sites. Funny thing is Friendly Center has been around since 1957 and Four Seasons 1974. Both have changed over the years, for better or for worse. I came here multiple times with friends and family in 2008 and 2009. With my friends, we'd go to stores like REI, Great Outdoor Provision Co, and Barnes & Noble. It was around these years that I picked up a MacBook for my mom from the Apple Store. She returned several times for One to One trainings on how to use various Apple devices. Since 2018, I've been going to Friendly Center for Schiffman's Jewelers, for the most part. That's because I got my wife's engagement ring and wedding band from Schiffman's and have returned for inspections and cleanings. We returned just a few weeks ago to see Frances, who just celebrated 45 years at Schiffman's. Last month, I accompanied my wife and sister to Sephora and Anthropologie. Other brands that were or still are of interest to me at Friendly Center include Brooks Brothers and lululemon. There are also a Whole Foods Market and Williams-Sonoma. Friendly Center was sort of patchworked together over the years, so the design and routing aren't ideal and getting around can be confusing. It would be nice if there were maps of the property on-site, but we didn't see any during our recent visit. Also, at the time of writing this review, the map on their website is down. "Couldn't fetch map data." https://friendlycenter.com/directory Depending on what section of Friendly Center you're in, it's sometimes better to get back in your car and drive to another store than it is to walk. This is because of the awkward, inefficient layout and lack of sidewalks. Again, not ideal. The brands are the draw. Check out Friendly Center on Facebook and Instagram at the links below. The mall is currently active on these platforms. FB: https://www.facebook.com/FriendlyCenter IG: https://www.instagram.com/shopfriendlycenter/

Not a chance. Fill your homely heart with accessories for the desk and gifts for any friend. There is a giant wall of stickers spanning a range of subjects, but generally seeming to lean towards feminism and other more liberal themes. The selection of journals was what caught my eye the most of all. Don't forget the assortment of books, gift cards, and postcards. For the one-half greenhouse, it's another half paperie/stationery shop. For me, the prices were on the high side. That wouldn't stop me, of course, from snagging a journal and a pen in the future, though. It just so happens that, as an avid journaler, I already have a stack of blank journals patiently waiting their turn. The owners were friendly and even had a little dog roaming around happily going about its day. The plants were an inspiration, and now I want to propagate my own pothos into tiny little self-painted and designed pots rescued from the thrift store!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!…read more LaKita has been such an amazing help when it came to finding what is perfect for my home. I have been here several times in the past week and have gotten pieces of such great quality. My first item was a 4 chair dining room chair set for $135, which was perfect with my dining table thrift find and for my home. Even my cats love sitting in the chairs. My second item was a nightstand set where I had to put everything together (this is where I met LaKita). I had questions about the measurements and went above and beyond to allow me to open the box to take the exact measurements I needed. My third item was a dresser that fit my coastal theme with seashell handles I have my eyes on. She definitely remembered me, followed up with how the nightstands were going, and was glad to see me back there. The combination of the quality in these items I have bought and LaKita's customer service is the perfect reason to keep returning to this store for my future needs, whether it's furniture pieces or simple DYI materials.

A lot of the furniture has cosmetic damage and/or is just terrible looking. Some of the couches look like it could have came from the 1970s. Not saying you can't find a hidden gem, but I would not drive a long distance to search. I did find a nice looking fire pit with Adirondack chairs that I would have purchased, but it was black only. Unless you have it under some shade, black chairs in the South means burning your ass in the summer. Most of it is junk nobody wanted to buy online, returns or has minor cosmetic damage. Check the Outlet's web site out before driving here. Think I am exaggerating? Check out my photos.

I love their vintage looking new dresses and their throwbacks. The store has a cute way of mixing the old with the new. They have one of a kind shoes sprinkled around the store. Oh my goodness and their collection of sunglasses is amazing! Their decor is so chic. Upstairs has a great selection for men and vintage wedding dresses. I enjoy looking at the nostalgia. I think they are priced for the uniqueness of the items. So, I think the pricing is fair. If you are a costume designer or fashion forward person, you would love it. If you live by the beat of your own drum, you would also love it.

I was really feeling the ambiance and the music being played through the store, so I really enjoyed strolling through and looking at the variety of items. It was cool to see a men's section because you don't normally find that unless it's in a"men's consignment shop". There is SO much to see in this store.
