However, The Wharf manages just fine to fit into a more boutique style gift store, which means it offers something a little different to the other shops. It has a range of really cool handbags, which aren't particularly to my interest, some pretty cool gift cards and really classy looking silver jewellery. As well as that there were a few really nice looking vases, but unfortunately, nothing really quite 'me' enough to open my purse. Still, if it sounds like your kind of thing then perhaps it would be worth the visit!

My check-list when buying a watch: -It has to be a good, well-known, posh brand -It has to have a metal strap or maybe if good enough a leather one -It has to, most definitely have a big dial! Oversized timepieces as said by Emma before. And then it would be perfect. Fossil has an amazing collection of watches and I truly do love them after a lot of Tommy Hilfiger, D&G, and the likes. They have great cuts and they seem to get the concept of women actually liking big dials a lot! They have an array to watches to choose from in this little store and during christmas they had some amazingly cheap deals that is way too low for Fossil! So if you're looking for a period to steal, any sale season is right for you! This branch also has some very pretty pendants and jewellery in beautiful tin boxes which can be great gifts. Oh, I forgot to mention about their 'tin box' legacy which I oh so love! Each watch comes in a box that you get to choose, these tin boxes with designs etched on them and somehow, I love little boxes. I love little boxes, little boxes love fossil, I love fossil. And its a cycle which continues forever.

Plus, they come in hardwearing, colourful tins which I STILL use to store teabags and sugar in. Yeah, my kitchen rocks, guys. Rocks... fossils, wow, I am on fire today people. Heck yeah. Er... back to the task at hand. You can get a great deal of wristwear with some interesting designs on them, and there are even mother of pearl faces on offer which I know is a big incentive for some, including my own mum. The ones on the large leather straps are particularly noteworthy as they look unusual and extremely stylish. For the men there are plenty of unique watches in the 'mechanical' category, presumably they can tell you the time in several countries, the temperature of where you're standing, if you're facing North, that sort of gizmo talk. However Fossil ain't just about watches. There's bling to be had. The male jewellery is very surfery and there are some gorgeous rings... remember, man rings are acceptable these days. For women some of the rings look almost eternity band-worthy and only cost around £35. Earrings are simple and gorgeous, as are the bangles, and the jewellery is available in silver and stainless steel. Fossil even has its own range of sunglasses for the guys and gals as well as bags, wallets and gosh, shoes, I bet you weren't expecting that. Fossil is high quality, reasonably priced and full of surprises. What more do you want?

However, when it comes to shiny glistening jewellery, I am somewhat of a seasoned browser. Oh yes. It was such items that laser beamed my eye as I was walking to the charity shops along the same street in Leeds, so I stopped by for a quick browseroo. Delightful! They had several vintage style rings and other items and their prices were dirt cheap. There were several second hand garnet and emerald rings, 9ct gold, for between £50-£100 which I thought wasn't too bad - not exactly great gold, but it's always been the gems that I like best. They also had a range of watches, pendents, sovereign rings, bracelets and more - all under the second hand bargain signage - for reasonably cheap prices. It's not exactly somewhere that I might frequent having been there, but definitely I'll be on the look out for a cheap vintage style ring!

They also have many vintage-inspired dresses - one that caught my eye was a grey woolen long-sleeved dress with gold buttons and there were also dresses reminiscent of Victoria Beckham's designs, with fitted bodices and added pelmets. They also sell a small selection of jewellery and shoes. The fact that all the clothes here are by local independent designers makes me appreciate this shop much more, as it is supporting small businesses, showcasing local talent and providing a unique shopping experience.

Bordering the room are rails and rails of quirky, individual and classy items, which, to my delight, I discovered are all by independent local designers. The girls working there were clearly passionate about the clothes, not only since they were dressed head to toe in them, but they went on to explain to me that the shop had been there for around 30 years and so was well established as an independent boutique. They also informed me that they only buy one of each size in so that any item purchased is virtually a one-off - I love one-offs! For this you do have to pay a little more than your average high street brands, but the point is that when you go out in one of their dresses/skirts/tops you know that you are likely to be the only one in Leeds wearing it. Even the scarf selection oozed class and design. It was very exciting, and as Christmas is creeping ever closer, I suggest you go in and and have a search. But not if I get there first...

We ended up looking at a local pram shop and got what we wanted at half the price. Magic!
