I loved my dental hygienist, Debbie, because she explained everything to me that she was doing. I am currently pregnant & she was so patient with me when I needed water & did not push X-rays on me. She even told me to check with my baby doctor to ensure it was okay for me to get a new filling before scheduling the next appointment. I've been to so many medical places that don't give you those options or encourage you to talk to your other providers first. I also had Dr. Drake as my dentist and he was very thorough and kind. The second time he started the visit by reprimanding me for not getting 8 cavities filled at my last visit, again he had mixed up my chart with another patient. The last straw was when at a visit I told him I had been waking up in the morning with a tense jaw and was afraid that I had developed night time grinding and asked for recommendations on how to manage it. He rolled his eyes and said, "just stop". Not exactly the most helpful suggestion for managing an involuntary activity when you're asleep. I switched dentists and discovered that I have a misalignment contributing to night time bruxism which was treated with a bite guard and adjustment.

Do not expect that questioning your bill or asking for explanation of charges, your charges, the ones that you are paying for, to simply be answered. Do expect rude and how dare you question what is printed there, attitude. Do expect to be lied to, intimidated or both if you dare to question why a charge or procedure was not fully explained to you. The only good experience I had in the billing area was when the billing ladies were out to lunch and one of the front desk receptionists offered to come and help me. This individual took the time to print out, do the math and explain to me, what I was not understanding. When you are in the chair, do not expect that you can choose to say no and to choose what you would like to do with your insurance plan, your teeth and your money. What you can expect is passive aggressive behavior, and belittling, and if that does not sway you to conform then back up is called in from the billing department. And the main one in billing is a beast, I'm sure many have run and hid knowing she was on her way. What you can expect is to be told, when you do not want more x-rays just because insurance will pay after 2 years even though there are no signs of cavities or any new development, to be told by the hygienist, that "you get more radiation just walking outside", (her arms crossed and doing her best to tower over you and intimidate you). I mean if you are getting radiated every time you walk outside then you might want to skip more radiation in places that you can control...like not getting x-rays just because 2 years have lapsed and x-rays can be billed again. Expect folded arms, eye rolling, belittling posturing and extra's being brought in to bully you into submission. All I wanted was my teeth cleaned, a plain cleaning that my insurance paid 100% for. They were insisting that I had deep cleaning last time so I would have to do that moving forward because insurance would not pay after a deep clean, for regular cleaning. Had to question that one...I know that last year after requesting a regular cleaning when I scheduled, I wondered after the procedure, why I was still charged $200 +. I was not up for a battle with the awful billing lady after the cleaning and numbing so I just paid it. It turns out they did deep clean after I asked when I scheduled, for regular cleaning that my insurance would pay 100%. Trust me when I say they do not understand the words, "I cannot afford more than...". Each visit has been a challenge in one way or another; never to be treated as if I might be a responsible, intelligent human being that knows how to spend her own money and do the best she can within insurance limits to preserve her own teeth as best as income will allow for. I called my insurance company next day after this last visit just last week, and it turns out that I can go from deep clean to regular cleaning, which I felt was a lie on their part, as long as it had been 90 days from the deep clean. I had had enough last week, of the abuse experienced each visit so I got up and got my purse and walked out. On my way out, little miss billing had to get her last dig in, "just let us know where to send your records", again in that condescending tone of hers, so mature, so unnecessary, I was leaving, I didn't say anything to her, but she just cannot resist and not pass up an opportunity to be nasty. What to expect in this office if you have great insurance and plenty of money to cover expensive procedures...great service I am sure, which is fine for some, but it is not for me.

I started having…read moreinfections in a couple of the implants after a couple of years and I had been going regularly for check ups, but the office said he was no longer there. They did not offer to see me so I was left with these reoccurring infections and didn't know where to go for help. So I would ask my general Practitioner to write me prescriptions for antibiotics any time I had a flare up. After two years I finally found his new practice and made an appointment to see him. He never offered any explanation as to why 2 of the implants were having problems but did a treatment plan at the cost of $43,000. I declined because I felt like he had dropped the ball during his absence and was very Leary of him doing anymore work on me.

I'm not sure what the issue is with all the negative reviews because myself, my family, and anyone I have recommended to go there has never had a single complaint! And that includes several people who are on government insurance plans and they have never been or felt discriminated against! I do know that sometimes one of the two can come off a little direct and some may see that as being gruff or abrasive...however he's a very kind, patient, caring surgeon who has always been nothing but kind to us...I have not had a single issue and I've seen both Drs and both have made it a very pleasant experience! I as well have issues with numbing but they both always make sure I feel nothing and I'm comfortable before starting any procedure! I once came home from Vacation two days early due to getting the worst mouth infection I have ever seen in my life my face swelled up and I was in so much pain I couldn't handle it...on the way home I reached out to them on google or something and a short time later Dr strull responded and they were closed the following day being it was Sunday and he told me to call them first thing Monday ...I couldn't wait till Monday so I went to an emergency place however on Monday morning he reached out again checking on me and to let me know he would see me that day if I could come in!! That's the type of people they are! When they say they want you to feel like family they're serious and they will go above and beyond to help you in any way they can! That's all I just wanted to add my two cents because they are great drs and I hate to see someone pass them over due to a couple bad reviews because when your in pain and you need help they are who you wanna call! PS- I didn't need a narcotic AT ALL after getting wisdom teeth takin out by them I literally returned my prescription to them because I never filled it, when I went back because I was so shocked at how little pain I had!
