I recently moved my business from the worst bank I ever had the misfortune of doing business with…read more(i.e., Simmons Bank, where it was all about them) to Central Bank, one of the best banks I have had the good fortune of doing business with, where it is all about the customer. I had almost forgotten what it felt like to deal with a responsive, customer-focused bank whose people and technology make everything easier, infinitely less frustrating, and infinitely more satisfying. From the moment I walked in the door, the positive energy and the customer orientation of Central Bank's culture was palpable. And the professionalism, competency, and responsiveness of Central Bank's people was immediately apparent. You really can feel and see the difference. In some banking relationships, inertia can take over and gradually one comes to accept indifference and mediocrity. And it may be exacerbated by a feeling that all banks are the same. Well guess what? Central Bank offers compelling evidence that all banks ARE NOT the same, and it shows in every interaction. Central Bank understands that meaningful, trust-based relationships are earned everyday. What's more, Central Bank does not mistake or confuse a series of transactions with what it means to have a "relationship." So here's the deal. If you are new to Columbia and are looking for a great bank, Central Bank is an excellent place to start. I wish I would have started with Central when I moved to Columbia in late 2019. Or, if you are a customer of a bank where you feel, at best, ignored or, at worst, abused - - do yourself a favor and have a conversation with Central Bank. I am confident you will find, like I did, that it is worth the effort. You will be glad you did.

Then, when it switched to Simmons, EVERYTHING changed. All we had was a simple checking and credit account. When my mother died, I sent them her death certificate as required by law. They are still sending her mail. My father is also on the account, but they keep sending it addressed to my deceased mother. My father is in his 80s and couldn't figure out how to use their online system. I was helping him. They made it almost impossible for him to use it. We decided to end our relationship with them and asked them to remit any monies or tell us how much we owed on the credit line. I called them over and over and finally they gave me an amount. We paid it and thought it was over. We JUST received a bill from them for $5.57. They threaten further recovery. It's amazing!! And yes, they addressed this mail to my deceased mother AGAIN. Please, there are plenty of good banks out there. Do not use this negligent firm.
