Our back deck had been a disaster since we moved into our house. It was a previous homeowner DIY…read moreproject that was used with incorrect materials, and because of this it was causing the deck to sag in multiple locations. It also did not have any steps for access to the backyard. We spent a year and a half contacting contractor after contractor, no one wanted to help us get our deck up to par. Not one person that came out to look at the deck would give us an estimate on what it would take to fix the deck. Some told us they would only give us pricing for a new deck, others just ghosted us all together. Enter Mark Skerlec. Mark listened to our needs and then gave us a variety of options that could rectify the issues with the deck. After making our final decisions Mark quickly scheduled a date to begin his work. He was clean, he was quick, and he did incredible work. Our deck no longer sags. It no longer bounces when you walk on it. I also finally have direct access to the backyard. The most amazing part is Mark was able to take the time to match up the parts he used with the current design of the deck. Looking at it you would never know that it was once a monstrous atrocity. It is one complete, beautiful unit. It looks great. And I couldn't be any happier. Next time I need work done, interior or exterior, there won't even be multiple calls. Mark Skerlec is the only contractor I will use.

When we moved from our house, our movers hired Shawn to protect an antique "tall clock" for us…read morebefore putting it on the long journey to Florida. Shawn built 3 actual crates for the three sections of the clock. I was impressed by the workmanship of just the crates themselves!!! Everything precisely measured and cut -- more than I ever expected to be done to protect the clock. When the clock arrived (safely--of course) to FL, the movers hired another man to uncrate the clock and get it working again. Even the man in FL who uncrated it commented about the beauty of the crates! He even asked if I would mind if he took the wood that was used to build the crates (with the thought of reusing it the next time he was called to make a crate for a customer who is moving something delicate). I thought that was the ultimate compliment to Shawn: that another woodworker recognized the workmanship that went into building the crates. If that's the way Shawn builds crates -- I can only imagine what a great job he'd do when remodeling!

He replastered 2 ceiling holes, and 2 holes by my banister left by the guy who repaired it, and he repaired a huge crack in the ceiling above the stairs that I didn't even ask him to do because I thought it was hopeless. When the cord that came with the fan didn't reach the plug, he spliced a 3 prong extension cord and used that instead. Brilliant! He cleaned up everything.
