The secret to their dynamic duo is love and passion for each other and their work. Rachel did my hair for our wedding and couldn't have been more pleased. Logesh worked with our boys in both shoots to make sure they were as relaxed and having fun as possible. (As we know, children tend to get stiff in photos if they dont take them often). The kids personalities and well as ours as a couple blossomed through each photo. Cannot wait to see what our maternity shots captured!! Thank you guys for being a blessing!

She took the time to get to know us and our vision before the day and was a pleasure to work with. She was very familiar with the Mendocino coast; we went to some nearby cliffs on her recommendation and the photos there were stunning. We especially loved the candid photos of us and family and the dramatic shots on the coast. We highly recommend J. Perlman Photography and would certainly work with them again.

Joyce seemed to understand the feeling that we were going for with our wedding and could answer every one of my photo-knowledgable wife's questions about their approach to photography. It was also important to us to know that we'd have two photographers for the wedding to allow us to capture both of us prior to the ceremony and Joyce and Randy provide that. They were exactly what you'd want on the day of the wedding: non-intrusive. Having just now received the final photos from the day, it was clear that they were there for many moments that we were pleasantly surprised by and captured all the important pieces without fail. Also, we weren't keen on the idea of too many posed formal pictures and they made that part of the day quick and painless. There were only two reasons that we gave them four stars instead of five. First, and this one serves as more of a warning to be specific in your needs as a potential customer, we didn't get as many still life pictures of the event as we would have liked. While it's typical that the bride and groom don't get to eat a lot, we're pretty sure there was a lot of beautiful food there and we were surprised not to see any of it in the photos. Second is that the engagement photo session that was included in the package was a bit concerning for us. We picked a location that had lots of variety and lots of different lighting situations and when we received the photos we became very concerned about their ability to ensure proper lighting conditions on our faces on the day of. However, once we discussed this with them and they let us know the difference between what they did on the test shoot day versus the day of, we were satisfied. That satisfaction proved true when Randy, because he knew it meant a lot to us, took test pictures of every important image to check the lighting before moving on. We would definitely recommend J. Perlman and R. Lutge to anyone getting married in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The engagement shot they took of us made it into the NY Times wedding section! First off, they are awesome, warm people who are talented, professional and flexible. I've been to weddings where some photographers act like "paparazzi," and didn't want this experience for my own. Lisa and James hung back but got amazing shots all throughout the day. Not only did they take lovely photos of us, the couple, they got such amazing individual shots of friends and family. I completely agree with another reviewer here who mentioned that they are great at capturing the essence and spirit of the day. As I flip through our wedding day photos, I feel like I'm reliving the day all over again and since it was the best day of my life, I'm pretty happy about that. :)

The photos are gorgeous; I couldn't be happier that we were able to hire Elle Jae for an engagement shoot and for the wedding. We didn't have the budget to hire a videographer, but thanks to James and Lisa, we'll never forget what it felt like to be surrounded by all of our favorite people for such a special moment in our lives. Also, James and Lisa are kick-ass cat-wranglers. We had a HUGE wedding party and lots of family photos, not to mention a first look and our own "romantic" photos, as well as the getting ready shots, the ceremony, the party, and all the decor. I was expecting that we wouldn't be able to squeeze in all the photos that we wanted, but these guys are so organized and practiced that we actually had time to spare. Seriously, they are a huge reason our entire day was so stress-free. Can't thank them enough for their all-around awesomeness.

I had a simple proposal plan of taking her…read moreout to San Francisco's iconic Pier 7, where I would drop down on one knee and try to fool her into thinking that a lifetime with me really wouldn't be that bad. Fortunately, the delightful Duende duo of Ken and Brady were on hand to beautifully capture every single moment (not to mention from every single angle) for eternity. This alone would've been worth five stars. But what really puts Ken and Brady over the top is their professionalism and desire to go above and beyond! I had first contacted Brady back in December to discuss this surprise proposal idea. We soon met in person, signed off on a contract, and then planned out every single detail of how they would hide, where I would drop to one knee, which direction I should face, what exact time the sun would be setting, what to do in the event of an emergency (like an idiot tourist suddenly blocking line of sight), etc. Leading up to the big proposal, I was understandably a trainwreck of nerves, but absolutely none of this was due to worrying about the photographers possibly dropping the ball. But then mother nature decided to make things interesting. Even during the driest winter that we've had over the last godzillion years, it decides to dump rain on my parade. Thankfully, Ken and Brady had me prepared ahead of time with an oversized translucent umbrella, and were both willing to brave the wrath of our one-day typhoon season in order to get the perfect shot. By sheer serendipity, the rain decided to stop just before we made our way onto the pier. By even sheerer serendipity, a schmuck like me got the most amazing person to say yes. As we were walking back towards Embarcadero as an engaged couple, Ken had a brilliant idea of posing us in front of some active F-Market trolleys. The results truly speak for themselves. Finally, one little insider secret for you Yelping lovebirds. I had originally contacted a few different wedding photographers in hopes of shooting my proposal. Ken and Brady weren't just the photographers whose portfolio I most admired, but they were also the cheapest! So go and book them for your event before they come to their senses and jack up their prices. Keep in mind however that I am calling first dibs on DuendePhoto once we finalize our wedding date.
