    engagement shoot.

simply the best. I'm sure every couple loved their photographers, but Joseph and April really go above and beyond. I believe their work speaks for itself so go check out their website to see their amazing work. we checked out a lot of other photographers but they really set themselves apart with their prompt responses and no pressure style - they genuinely wanted to make sure that their style was what we were looking for. for our engagement shoot we asked for certain shots and we were blown away with what they came up with. they scouted locations the week before, made sure we had the necessary permits, and found some great places. leading up to our wedding, they remained in constant contact and followed up with us to make sure we were all set. we had Joseph, April & Reggie that day and they were so amazing and we could not have asked for more.

I'm so obsessed with my photos. To me, wedding photos and video were the most important vendors. We want to be able to look back on our special day with a smile. Thank you Joseph and April for your hard work and capturing all the special moments. We use J&A Light for our wedding and engagement photos. They did such a great job. The communication was really good. I had so many questions and they answered it all in detail. They helped us visualize the kind of wedding we wanted. Usually, I'm very awkward in front of a camera but they made us feel comfortable. They were professional, detailed, and a lot of fun to work with. They really captured the moments. I think they might be ninjas, in some of the shots, we didn't know they were being taken. They really captured the raw emotions. It was perfect.

We loved that she had different props and backgrounds staged for us ahead of time. Her shooting style is a great blend of professional posed shots and natural candid moments. What we appreciated most was her patience and flexibility. She was happy to add time to include my parents in the session, and when my mom was sick and couldn't make it, Erika graciously let us reschedule that portion of the shoot. She really goes with the flow and makes you feel at ease. We loved working with her!

We truly cannot say enough incredible things about our photographer, Jack!…read more From the very beginning, he brought such a calm, confident presence that immediately put us at ease. Planning from out of state can be stressful, but he made the entire experience at San Francisco City Hall feel relaxed, fun, and genuinely joyful. He kept everything moving efficiently while still making us feel completely present and natural. One of the highlights was the amazing teamwork between Jack and his assistant photographer. They worked so seamlessly together, capturing different angles at the same time so we never had to stop and wait for repositioning. It made the whole shoot feel smooth and maximized every minute of our reserved time. Jack's eye for lighting and detail is truly next level. He expertly guided me into poses that were flattering and elegant, positioned me perfectly so the light hit just right, and made sure my dress and veil were flowing beautifully in every shot. I felt confident, comfortable, and honestly so beautiful. And the photos... beyond spectacular. Timeless, romantic, and better than I ever imagined. Even after the shoot, his service was exceptional. He was incredibly responsive over text when we had small touch-up requests, sent us the raw photos so quickly so we could immediately share and post, and turned around the edited images so fast. He even let us select favorites for additional touch-ups, which made the whole process feel collaborative and personal. If you're looking for someone talented, efficient, and an absolute joy to work with, Jack is it. We are forever grateful for these stunning memories.

He got on a couple calls with me to discuss the concepts and took into consideration what I wanted. Our plans changed quite drastically for events out of anyone's control, but Jack was able to quickly pivot and accommodate. He also speaks several languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, and English), so he's wonderful with elders who may be better taking instructions in Chinese. He made us feel so at ease, and it reflected in the photos. Jack is also very quick with his work. He shared snippets the day of, and also a few days later. He's very diligent and his edits are wonderful, even better than I could have imagined. He under promises and over delivers (BLESS THIS because I've certainly dealt with photographers and editors who don't understand delivering quality images), so you will not be disappointed. He took photos I wasn't in love with and was able to edit them in a way that you can't help but gasp over. I would 1000% recommend Jack for any photography needs. You will walk away overjoyed with the masterpieces!

We hired Micah Weiss to photograph our wedding, May 17, 2014. Last year, September 9, 2013, we made…read morea written agreement where Mr. Weiss was to work for 6 hours for $1000 to capture our day, and we would pay for his travel expenses, SF to Mill Valley, $35. We received similar quotes from other wedding photographers. Mr. Weiss was to provide ALL unaltered wedding images, so we agreed to pay him in full prior to the wedding shoot. At the wedding Mr. Weiss was staggeringly unprofessional. He arrived an hour late to the wedding, missing important shots such as the boutonniere being pinned to my husband. He arrived just about 20 min before the official I do's. He asked me just hours before the wedding for the address and start time, information which was provided months prior. Mr. Weiss fought with the parking attendant, because the parking staff told him that he was blocking other wedding guests. He refused to move in spite of protests from parking staff, forcing the groom to stop his preparation to intervene. Mr. Weiss dressed in clothing not appropriate for our formal wedding day, bright blue tennis shoes, plaid shirt, and khakis. Mr. Weiss did not work during parts of the wedding: for example, during the ceremony he stopped working and then later at the reception he sat down at a table for guests. All other staff appropriately sat at other locations that did not impede on guests. It wasn't until a minute after the reception began that he discovered the open bar. Midway through the wedding he became visibly drunk, there wasn't a contract about not drinking the bar dry, but it's apparent that he did. Multiple guests noticed this, including one who wrote me about it. His photos are all unusable after that point in the evening, showing a noticeable degradation in quality. He neglected to bring the list of formal photos he was provided a week in advance. A bridesmaid had to print another copy for him. He did not take all of the formal photos he was supposed to. A guest overheard him bragging that he was going to skip one of the most important images (B&G with parents on both sides) because it was "too complicated" to organize the people involved. Mr. Weiss only took photos from one side of the ceremony, so no shots of the bridesmaids exist. Mr. Weiss skipped major moments of the ceremony and reception, which were requested. He then takes a bottle of champagne home at the end of the evening, which was for guests. I was reluctant to say no because he was shooting our wedding. He DID NOT provide the images he promised after we paid him in full. He stated that ("but as i see you guys traveling from country to country .. its very clear that you had money , you were just stiffying me so you could spend it on yourself ... making you look pretty bad .. and after I got your free rental gear !!! you really didnt make yourself look like a great client ... w all these actions and expecting so much") he wanted more money after the wedding was over, while we were on our honeymoon (it was more than stressful), stating that if we can afford to travel on a weeks long honeymoon, then we can afford to pay him more money for the images that we want. Beware, he's untrustworthy, will try to gouge you for more money after the event, and staggeringly unprofessional.
