Our experience with Brighton Montessori has been incredible…read more My son started shortly after he turned 2. We wanted more than a daycare. We wanted Montessori practices and principles. And it was immediately apparent that Brighton Montessori offered this. We looked at a few different options before choosing BMS and there was a startling difference. In the other daycare centers, the children were running around yelling, a few crying, one kid was climbing up a bookshelf, etc. When we came and looked at BMS, the kids were playing quietly in groups with their "work." Within a few weeks of my son attending BMS he was picking up his toys, pushing in his chair and saying "thank you." All that said, this is not to imply that BMS is strict and quiet! The children are allowed to be children! They run around outside. They sing songs loudly! Everyday my son comes home and proudly show me his artwork. They play play play! The teachers are also fantastic. They are some of the most gentle, kind and compassionate people I've met. My son adores them. He gives them hugs when he leaves for the day. He arrives at school and feels comfortable telling them all the things he did that weekend. He respects his teachers but sees them as allies, not a threat. This is entirely due to their respectful interactions with our children. I could go on and on. There are halloween parades. Christmas cookie parties. They help you with potty training (if desired). They have communal lunch and snack time. It's just a wonderful, caring, family-oriented environment. Please go visit and see for yourself!

Our 4.5 year old daughter, Zoë, is about to conclude her first full year of pre-K at the Learning…read moreTree South Lyon. And I have nothing but glowing positives about the entire experience! Being her first foray into schools, our daughter started off tentative, was just barely potty trained and had never been left alone in a social class environment before. She was also somewhat of a picky eater. She was never in daycare prior to this. On her first day it was an ocean of tears when we left her there (and buckets of tears for the first two whole weeks). But the teachers there - Misses Claire, Heather and Anne - we're always on the ball and have her the attention and distractions she needed. She started to getting used to the whole school thing. Fast forward to the June of the following year. Our daughter has blossomed into a different child. She's good with mist foods now, extremely social with other kids at parties and etc, has learned how to write and paint and color, goes to and from the bathroom all by herself and enjoys every single day at school. The results were nothing short of amazing. And it's a testament to the care and attention the Learning Tree gives all the kids under their care. We highly recommend them as a daycare center and a preschool alternative for your children. Enrollment and space are limited, and it's on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for and it's a rock solid pre school experience. Thank you very much, Learning Tree!
