Short version: Great massage if you want a quality, fairly priced cupping and Chinese style massage. Not the place to go to if you don't like very overt displays of Christianity, or if you don't want to be misgendered. Long version: I'd never had a massage before, and wanted to go somewhere where I wouldn't have to spend a fortune. I saw on Ivy's website that they offer 30min back massages for a great price. Perfect! The waiting room is full of religious material (e.g. books), and religious music was playing. While I don't have a problem with religion, this felt like it was leaning more into 'evangelizing' territory, and it was hard to not feel uncomfortable with the whole thing. One of the therapists, Wendy, mentioned finding Jesus to me during the massage. It wasn't too offputting for me and wasn't pushed, but I know plenty of people might feel very uncomfortable about this, especially people with religious trauma, so I think it's important to know this before you head in. I also would not recommend this place for trans clients. The religious atmosphere already worried me in this regard, but being casually misgendered by the therapist in regards to my body, something I was already extremely nervous about, was humiliating. I wasn't exactly shocked by this, and went because I was really in need of a massage and was willing to deal with potential misgendering just to get some relief from muscle tension, but it was still extremely unpleasant and not something I'd want any other trans client to deal with. Unfortunately, it's not really possible to tell if any massage therapist in the area is trans-friendly just based on their websites. To massage therapists - you already do your utmost to help feel clients feel comfortable, so I recommend adding asking for pronouns, or at least avoiding pronouns and gendered terms if you aren't sure. I was also surprised at the massage itself. I went in for general stress/tension/anxiety, and what I really needed was a firm but still gentle massage. What I got was an extremely intense Chinese style massage, and cupping that left me bruised for days. While it was still relaxing afterwards, I wish their website was more clear on what you're in for, as it only mentions 'back massage' under the 'services' tab. The cupping can be overwhelming if you aren't used to pain or aren't prepared for it, as can the gua sha (this is where they take a wooden tool and scrape your skin, including your scalp and head VERY hard). If cupping and/or Chinese style massage is something you're looking for, this is the place to go to. Their rates are good, and they're good at what they do. Just be aware of what you're getting into beforehand. read more

Ivy's massage is truely a place of healing. Wendy and Linda are the absolute Best! The Highest quality of people you could wish for. I cannot say enough good things about them. They're extremely kindhearted, respectful, generous, always welcoming and a pleasure to be around. I have no doubts whatsoever, that they actually care about the people they help. I have chronic back pain and i see them every week. They keep me working and they keep my pain level from getting too high. Each session is like a pain reset. When I first started going to Ivy's 6 or 7 years ago I had high blood pressure and was on medication from my doctor to lower it. After about a year of therapy I stopped taking my medicine and I have been able to keep my blood pressure within normal limits since then. I attribute this to the cupping I get from Wendy. Wendy and Linda are absolutely amazing! I was suffering from a lot of medical issues, like high blood pressure, diabetes, food allergies, back problems, headaches and stress, you name it I had it. For my vaction in May I went to visit my BFF Suzanna. We made appointments for pedicures, massages and shopping. We set out and headed to Ivy's, We changed and then we were ushered into a quiet room . ( I heart this room sooo relaxing) I waited briefly and then Ivy came out to get me. She let me know right away that this was not your typical "american" massage. I shrugged thinking massage is massage ... right? WRONG! The first thing she did was she went down all of my aches and pains. Anything that seemed abnormal. Once done I laid on my stomach on the massage table and she proceeded to cup me. Get your minds out of the gutter folks... This means she took little cups and placed them against my skin in trigger point areas. then she would suction out all of the air until it was almost ..... no it was ... Painful. But i am a sucker for pain ... so even as tears welled to my eyes. (she told me it was ok to cry) I knew that this HAD to be something special. After she removed the cups she began to hand massage basically resistance massage . Not fluffy and sweet but I have to say when I was done... I felt absolutely amazing. In fact I never felt as good my entire life. We ate a lunch of dim sum and had pot after pot of fresh loose leaf tea. I know without a doubt that no matter WHAT else I do while I am in Cortez Colorado, I will definitelly go to Ivy's . Best thing I ever did for myself. read more

I have degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my neck and shoulders, I suffer from my neck grinding and pain and lack of sleep. Since I've started cupping Theraphy the grinding has subsided and I'm no where as near as sore as I was. My energy level as improved, and I sleep better. I can't brag enough on the improvement it has made. It isn't a quick fix you have to stay with it if you've suffered a long time. I have had shots in my neck and back seen chiropractor and doctors, this is the only thing I have found that really helps. They are nice people and care about what they are doing.
