Came here on a Friday night. I was in the mood for EDM that night, so I didn't particularly care for the music (90s and early 2000s hip hop) which I always hear in my town, but after a drink I was good. We must have not explored the entire place because we were just in one room and the upstairs part was closed that night. The place was pretty packed and service was good. They had some free food which reminded me of Boulevard3 in Hollywood. The crowd was full of friendly happy people. Some dude came up to us with a sign saying "Free Hugs" and gave us both a hug. Lol. Randomness. Other than that, I was a bit disappointed. Especially since I wanted a Buttery Nipple shot and the bartender had no clue what I was talking about. I had a White Russian instead and it was pretty tasty. I see in photos that there is a pool and some comments about it being a huge Vegas sized club. I hope you don't mean the tiny RocBar in Vegas. Lol. I will have to come back and see the rest of the Ivy, apparently.

The first time I came here they told me my ID was fake and served me grape juice and didn't let me enter. The second time i paid $40 for a shot of spicy piss they tried to scam me and called it tequila. Anyone under 10 years old should not come here!

The manager paid us off $120 instead of $90 because he saw the misconduct.

https://m.facebook.com/ivysydney/ Tonight in Sydney, Australia, at Ivy Club a security guard put a young, legal female's safety in danger. While she was waiting for her friends, a security guard named John Lazerus (ID #00027080) told her to wait outside for her friends. He then proceeded to laugh at her and tell her she couldn't re-enter, as if he had tricked her. The law in Sydney is no re-entry after 1:30 am, she was aware of the law but he told her she had to wait there for her friends and failed to mention it was an exit. He continued to taunt her and made it clear he had the power in this situation. The guard cursed us out and handled the situation completely inappropriately, acting like a power hungry child. The manager told me he would refund the $10 entry fee for the 9 of us (out of 12) that were arguing, if the tapes revealed the misconduct. He then came back with $120, which was over-compensation clearly indicating he observed the obscene level of misconduct that had occurred. In addition to John Lazerus, a few other guards were hostile and cursed us out as they were quick to believe the guard without getting the full picture. The guard, John Lazerus, forced a single girl, who was waiting for her friends, outside without re-entry while he let others slide by. The obvious misconduct of this security guard put my friend at danger by forcing her outside the bar, alone. He believed he had the authority to act in this way as he proudly waved his security badge to us and telling us if we were to complain that nothing would come of it! The manager clearly saw the misconduct, that's why I was given $120 instead of $90. Please repost this to spread awareness of misconduct at all clubs, especially Ivy Club in Sydney. #StopJohnLazerus #IvyClubSydney #Justice

If you come here on a Friday or Saturday night, you're going to find the place packed to the brim with men who have spent too much time in the gym and are now looking to show off their work, and women who want to sleep with them but are playing hard-to-get. Then, squish all these people into a room together, shoulder to shoulder, get them all drunk so they think they're rubbing up against each other, and you have the Ivy. But if you actually want to come here to enjoy the place, come early on a Friday (be gone by 7pm) or come on a weekday when the place is empty. It's not the greatest place to come, and with a bit of looking around, you'll find something more interesting. Cocktails are around $17, are weak and take way too long to mix. It really is "meh, sure, why not" kind of place.

If you can avoid the crowds on Saturday and Friday nights, this place is a really nice destination. The best night is probably Thursday, but early on in the week is also a nice time to have a few quiet drinks. The architecture of the place is worth appreciating (tip - during the daytime is the best to appreciate it). Each section has its own theme, from the Ivy Den area, to the main bar, the change room bar, pool bar, and the Ivy Penthouse. There are plenty of things to do during the day, such as lunch or a Sunday afternoon chill out place by the pool if the weather is nice.

Visited Ivy for a day party during Mardi Gras weekend. The venue is quite the sight to see. Very open, staffed bars on each side, and a dance floor big enough for everyone to enjoy themselves. The pool and multi level setup was a great club experience. Best time of the year was to go during Mardi Gras since I'm not sure what other times you'd see so many people all at once with DJ's from across the world.

If the weather is right and you fancy a spendy cocktail in an upscale yet comfortable setting, than the Ivy is the place for you. The bar staff was very friendly, helpful in selecting a drink and making sure you enjoyed it when you come back for another! The pool wasn't dip-worthy in that it could be cleaned to perfection, especially given the rooftop and high end CBD neighbourhood. However, it was pretty to see and be seen at. Prepare yourself for loads of suits during the week, pizza fresh made, and a good selection of cocktails. It was the perfect combination of elegance meets summer. A great place to entertain a client or take a date before dinner.

Really cool idea of having poolside drinks. Very relaxed vibe with palm trees all around and the cityscape visible through the open roof. Drinks are expensive though (and certain ones e.g. Gin are excessively priced)

I'm not a fan of The Ivy or more to the point, the type of people that go there. I like my posers to look like they've put less effort into it and I can't stand shrill women or men that wear slides. But there's no denying it is a gorgeous looking venue, and the "Sun Room" function room is no exception to the tasteful décor rule. This open, sun-drenched room holds about 400 at a guess- there were 300 or so beautiful people at the function I attended which really seemed the perfect amount. The bar staff were fabulously attentive and the patio lounge area with its old-fashioned vibed, cane chair and hanging planted beauty looked like an extremely pleasant spot to lounge away a sunny afternoon while being fanned by bare-chested men with peacock feather fans... OK there was none of that but had there been it would not have been out of place. Perfect place for a wedding reception.

One downside to the restaurant are it's prices. While it may be more expensive than your local cheap eat, this restaurant is well worth your hard earned money. You will do doubt be a repeat visitor with the delectable and delicious menu. Parking is conveniently free and right on the doorstop of the restaurant. Feel free to bring your own wine as the restaurant is B.Y.O. Visiting Ninja restaurant is an experience- one which will leave you thirsting for more! The moment you step into The Ivy's gloriously glamorous walls, you feel as though you're gracing the covers of a Ralph Lauren luxury advertisement. The Ivy thinks of everything- from bathroom attendants to coat-check facilities. You'll find the cocktails listed at exorbandent prices starting at $17. You may recognise the infamous Ivy Pool from music clips featuring The Black Eyed Peas or Brian McFadden. Famous celebrities such as Lady Gaga have also spotted gracing the stairway-to-heaven staircase, transcending three levels. Sydney's in-crowd are given priority entry, making entry often difficult or virtually impossible after 10pm. Entry has been likened to breaking into a nut- very hard. Pretentious people are not few and far in between, making people watching a highlight of the night. The Ivy is also renowned for its sushi and Tepanyaki, with 5 star service and an excellent array of beverages and food. Be sure to keep your eye out for the Ivy's insane parties and music events with the It-crowd in attendance!

OK, if I was basing my review on a single visit on a Friday or Saturday night, then it would get 1 star if it was lucky, but I'll give it 3 as it can actually be a pleasant place to come for an afternoon/early evening drink during the warmer months. Sitting in the outside part of the main bar, without too many people packed into it, makes you forget that in a few hours it'll be packed full of posers. And plus, you don't have to deal with, erm, over-zealous bouncers. It's not cheap, we know that, but where in Sydney is nowadays? And there's no view of anything. But the outdoors area is nicely shaded by the high sides of the building around you, which keeps it relatively cool during the hot summer months. Night times at The Ivy are pretty well-known, but the afternoons are far more pleasant.

Good for a night out with the boys, the bar is nice but expensive, sometimes they've got musical events going on.

Being close to where I used to work, I'd frequent this place quite a bit, and before it was a PJs it was a mates fave city pub so we'd catch up over a few here from time to time. There's a pretty good mix of people in the street-level bar, and PJs have converted it into more of a sports bar so there are plenty of screens for the sports nuts to check out their favourite teams prospects. PJs typically have pretty good fare. In winter they have two absolute cracking dishes. The Guiness Pie with mushy peas, and their signature lamb shanks which is totally unctuous. Why such a modest score? Price kills the place. It's not one of the cheaper places to get a beer as someone incorrectly states in their tips, it's easily one of the most expensive places to get a beer. You're paying over the top prices for domestic tap beer. A cheap beer is $5 for a Coopers Pale Ale, which you can get on the same street about 200m up the road... Also... As much as I enjoy a good pokie section, this one ain't good. And by that I mean the clientelle. It brings in the undesireable types, and sours what is otherwise a sweet pub. The snug, the downstairs den, has a great looking bar, and "snug" seating, but it's kinda pointless down there. It doesn't feel snug, it feels stuffy and claustrophobic - and the bar has never been manned when I've been down there. Now, if they moved the pokies to the snug, and then opened up the entire bar at the street-level to include the room vacated by the pokie section, you'd have something. But why would they do that when they can get by with what they have.

Being in the city, it can get quite busy very quickly and is a decently sized basement multi-storied pub. TV screens are usually are usually playing Fox sports or something similar. I order the Parmy, just to be on the the safe side. I wasn't too game to try the Pie which is supposed to be one of the best (as judged by Irish people I work with) around. The food is carefully prepared and you can tell the produce is quality and they've cooked it properly which some pubs sometimes struggle to do consistently... The chips were the standout side, crisp and crunchy! Definitely will be trying the stew or pie, that is if I'm brave enough to.
