You should get here early!! I went here last Thursday and it was free entry before 10pm. Got there around 9:50, but there was a 20 min line stretching down and around the entire alley so we ended up having to pay a $10 entrance fee. I did really like this place though! The dance floor is fairly big, and the ceilings are so high. Pretty good music, although it was a bit quiet. Turns out there are 2 different buildings so to get to the rooftop pool we had to get in line at the building next door to take the elevator up. I was in Australia on vacation (holiday) about two weeks ago and when I stayed in Sydney, I stayed right across the street from Wynyard Station. We wanted to check out some nightlife, but didn't want to have to take any taxis or have to rely on public transportation to get there. I got in touch with a friend of a friend that is a Sydney native, so he gave me a website (Merivale) to check out. All of the places looked pretty awesome and the best part.....the majority of them were literally right around the corner from the hotel. We paid the $20 bucks to get into all of the clubs, so we checked out Pool Club first.....very cool scene up there, but it was a little chilly (hate that I chose the winter season in Australia to make this trip), but I definitely liked the decor and the vibe. This was the first time I went out in a different country, so I caught myself looking at what other people were wearing and what's "in" in different countries. The women dressed pretty similar to how the ladies dress here in the US. The guys on the other hand.....where do I begin? I certainly didn't get the memo about the skinny jean movement over there, sheesh.....not a good look whatsoever. It was either skinny jeans or people looking like they just got off work at their corporate office and didn't change (suit and tie....the very uptight, businesslike look).....it's Friday night, loosen up a little bit fellas and leave the spreadsheets at home. We went downstairs to use the bathroom (also walked into a girl and guy getting it on......they forgot to lock the door, lol), which was part of another club, Changeroom. Loved the themeing of the place and the music was definitely the highlight of this place. I didn't realize Australians had a great appreciation for old school (mid 90s) hip hop and knowing the songs word for word. I wished the place had a bigger dancefloor, but I could still have a good time there. Last but not least, we headed downstairs to Ivy....it felt like something out of a dope ass music video. Definitely loved the ambiance of this place. It was hella chic and lots of beautiful people. This was definitely like a spot you would see in Las Vegas or in the Los Angeles area. I would've given the place (complex) five stars, but the drinks were hella expensive....i'm originally from NYC and I don't think I ever paid $20 for two bottled beers. I would definitely come back though, if ever I saved up enough money to make it back to Australia. P.S, does everybody smoke in Australia? Sheesh.....from all the people I saw walking and running across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, I figured it was a healthy city. Everybody I saw was getting a smoke in at the club. Hopefully, they will follow suit and ban smoking from bars and clubs like it is in my city, but I'm sure people will find a way around that too read more

Level 6 was amazing. Such a beautiful venue. Love the chill atmosphere. The people working there are such friendly people especially Jacqui what a a lovely girl. Also ,the others patrons were also su friendly. This was my first trip to Australia from Newport Beach ,CA and this was by far the most enjoyable club I visited. I came here for a friend's birthday party back in January and we had a great time. The espresso martini may have had something to do with it. It was delicious and normally not a drink I'd get, but they kept coming so I couldn't say no right?! Give one a try. Be prepared to pay $20 for entry, drink out of plastic (no glass allowed), and wait half an hour for the bathroom. And be warned, booze and full bladders are a recipe for violence - fights have been knownto break out in the toilet queue, so make sure you bring your wits with you (... at least you won't get glassed)! ... Or revert to camel mode and avoid the toilet line altogether. Having said that, the bathrooms are kinda worth wait - if you can hang on for that long. Disco balls illuminate irridescent mosaic cubicles big enough to house an orgy, which could explain why you have to wait half an hour to get into one. Beyond the bathrooms, you can order a pizza poolside, dance in the shallows, and marvel at wall to wall of wank. People watching doesn't get any more sickening and superb than this.... but my advice is to avoid this place like the plague. If you really feel the need to go to Ivy, get here on a school day, lap up the poolside action with a cascade of cocktails, then evacuate before things get outa control. Better yet, forget Ivy and head for LA. read more

Review for the pool bar: Not too crowded on a Thursday night, suits and short dresses lingering around the pool. No service besides the bar, and when asked to replace a sour glass of wine were met with a young bartender who dipped a straw to taste, then only knew to say we had to buy another glass. With already overpriced drinks, we weren't keen to get another. Overall an interesting scene, but mediocre/poor drinks, and disappointing service. Went on a Saturday. Full of beautiful but also superficial people (perhaps I am being unfair though?) Much too packed with people, so there was no room to dance. Also the music seemed to lack any sort of beat to dance too - not really to my taste. Also very loud so difficult to talk. Lots of smoke on the dance floor which was also annoying at times. Ivy on a Tuesday night and I'm looking around wondering who are these people? I feel like I've walked into a Vogue catalogue, where all the models are posing with their token cocktail in hands and Gucci dresses. Where do they find the time to look so glam, don't they have day jobs? They must right - to be able to afford the drinks... ah, but wait, pretty girls don't have to buy drinks...because the Ivy also attracts wealthy men happy to offer a few glasses of bubbly to a girl mimicking a manican. The Ivy is stunning - Justin Hemmes and the Merivale team have done an excellent job of creating a ridiculously hot venue packed with ridiculous hot people.... The thing is...I'm not into that.... I can strut my stuff, show off my Choos like the rest of them, but I find places like this exhausting... maybe I'm missing it - the joy, the fuss, the superficial rush...it's the closest Australia gets to any of the hot clubs I visited in LA.... and to that I give a big high five to the creators... but me, I'm more a casual, lets be comfy on the couch kinda girl, and the effort needed to be accepted in the Ivy is too exhausting and annoying for my likings... so 5 stars if you're stunning, 2 stars if you look like a normal person... Some people really like The Ivy, some people really hate the Ivy. I'll admit I tend to lean to the former although I have never been there on a Friday or Saturday night when it gets really packed and full of, well people better than me. Maybe! It's been a regular haunt for me and a couple of friends on a Tuesday night. Not much is open around the city but this place is and doesn't get no where near as many people as the busier nights. It's Tuesday after all! My point is, it's quite nice and picturesque. Spacious and the people are friendly here on Tuesdays. It's easy to get a drink or order some food and there's plenty of seats to choose from. I don't think I'll end up there on a Friday or Saturday night. Tuesday is my night here although it does make for a long Wednesday at work! read more

I went here for a corporate Christmas party for a friend's law firm. The event had an Oscars theme, with Hollywood decorations and flashy stars strewn everywhere. The function room was stunning and the perfect size for the 300 people that were there. I found the decor to be a bit tacky, but I think that was the responsibility of the event planning company rather than the staff at The Ivy Room. But enough about that, let's talk about the food, shall we? There were a variety of canapés to start off, like grilled prawns. By far, the best bite came from the absolutely fantastic deep-fried zucchini flowers, which were stuffed with ricotta. It was a divine package that melted in your mouth. I must also say that the bread was delicious (yes, it was that good to mention). When everyone took their seats at their respective tables, the three-course dinner started to be served. All the dishes were served family-style, meaning that there were just big plates at the center of the table. Starters included succulent chorizo, buffalo mozzarella with caramelized onions, and spicy king prawns. And the scrumptiousness continued throughout the night, with mains like osso bucco, green curry with roasted Jewfish, and a lovely vegetable salad with roasted capsicum, chickpeas, and zucchini. Dessert included an assortment of Valrhona chocolates, a heavenly Pavlova with mixed berries, and a passion fruit sorbet. The music was good but as a black American traveling this place isn't a place for us. People thought it was ok to walk through our party and then not say excuse me or anything. We had to to literally stand our ground. There was also an instance where one of the females thought we should move out of her way when we were moving with the flow of traffic with everyone else. Most pretentious, dirty and overpriced club in Sydney. Honestly don't understand how they can charge over $30 for entry, $12 for spirits & then not have a working toilet in the whole establishment. Security is everywhere, yet still doesn't manage to weed out all the girls and guys that can't stand up straight, and the guys who think sexual harassment is a norm when a girl has a drink in hand. To add, the Music is below average. Definitely not worth a single dollar to get into that place- if I could rate less than one star I would. You'd have a better time going to a pub in Penrith and sinking beers with the boys than going here- and you'll still have a full bank account afterwards. read more

This place was a complete complete waste of money. Went here on a Saturday night with my husband. He's from the USA and I wanted to show him a nice club in Sydney. We have been to a fair share of nice clubs in places like Vegas, Houston, Mikonos, cabo, Rome, etc. Entry was $40 per person. We got there just after 10:30pm. I had seen pictures online of dancers doing circus like acrobatics and was expecting for this price some good entertainment. Got in and although the venue was nice the music was not to our liking. It was some type of dance club music. For the size of the venue they should have had different music in different areas. We walked around to different rooms and it was all playing the same stuff. We asked 4 different employees about the dancers/acrobatics and they told us it played on the hour, every hour. We waited and waited and eventually left out of boredom. Drinks reasonably priced for Australian standards (around $10 for a bottled beer or house wine) We heard at least 2 comments from other guests saying it was the worst $40 they ever spent. Don't go here. Sydney has other great options for bars and clubs. This place steals your money. read more

Fun if your in your own big group otherwise you'll be awkwardly stared at by muscle shirts and really young awkward dudes, none of which will approach only stare. Last night attended a private event at the Ivy and the fire alarm went off. Staff didn't direct the crowd or know what to do. Boo on them.

Worst experience on the 29th of August at the ivy/ pacha with one of the security guard's and the head security guard First of all I had prepaid 10 vip back stage passes and the security guard lead us the wrong way Also we were told by the other security guards to go under the stanchions because we were in the wrong line. Then when we had done that, the head guard walked past and accused us of cutting in the line and he was threating to kick us out, also the head guard was extremely rude and accused one of us of being intoxicated, and told TO GO SOBER UP! AND LEAVE! we haven't even drank alcohol yet! also we were accused of having counterfeit tickets.I strongly believe that we were discrimination against! And secondly we weren't lead to the back stage vip section ? so basically thats wasted money.This is ridiculous,So I will not be returning to this club.And this will be the first and last time I will be attending this club.
