LOVED it. Longer review for those with time to read :) I have been dying to find a place like this near me and stumbled upon it while on vacation. I was visiting North Star with friends and as a group fitness junkie, I signed up for the week-long pass at TMF. I was welcomed warmly by Holly, the co-owner. She gave me the perfect little orientation with zero sales pitch, made me feel right at home, and then she jumped right into teach our class. I took Lower Body Strength, Body Pump, HITT and Core Strength over a few days and wished I could stay longer to try more, including the immersive spin class (think spin bikes in front of a movie screen - how cool). I also did a body composition analysis with Holly and wish I had time to use the infrared sauna. Virginia and Holly taught the classes I took. I really appreciate how much time Virginia spent with me to ensure I was lifting properly during HIIT (which was awesome and challenging!). Everyone was super friendly, including the class regulars. It can be intimidating to walk into a new gym and try to merge into group fitness, but everyone made me feel right at home. I will go back every time I'm in North Lake Tahoe.

I exercise regularly, but their classes are just next level. Feel like a beast coming out of body pump and body combat classes. Makes me feel like I have been working out wrong this whole time?! Class type diversity is awesome - also have Barre, boxing, cycling and strength training. Location super convenient. Highly recommend!

I've been a super happy student at the yoga room for the past several years. I only wish that I…read morecould attend more regularly. All of the teachers are fabulous, each in their own way. They communicate the fine points of poses, while keeping things lively and meditative at the same time. In particular, I greatly enjoy the Sunday morning sessions of Deanna's - a great way to find balance and strength to last a whole week. Deanna is always welcoming, and well accommodates neophytes and expert students alike, wherever their practice may be. And, Stephanie's enthusiasm and good nature are boundless. Somehow, she always works in individualized attention even in a crowded class. I always learn something new about myself in every class.

Shoutout to personal trainer JJ Sandoval and the gym in general…read more JJ is a fantastic trainer with many years of experience training. The owner has been heavily harassing clients (including myself). Today he came up to me in the middle of my workout, after I had just gotten there, and began aggresively screaming at me for not picking up SOMEONE ELSE's weights. I had multiple people come up to me after saying that he had behaved the same towards them. This went way beyond un-professional and was actually pretty horrifying behavior that I guess happens regularly.

We tried out 2 different classes at Mountain Lotus Yoga. The first was SUP (stand up paddle board)…read moreyoga on Lake Tahoe, which was a fun experience and what I would describe as an intro to paddle boarding combined with a mini-gentle yoga practice once you are out on the water. If you are looking for a great workout, do not choose this activity. If you are looking for some time in the lake, a chance to get acquainted with balancing on a paddle board and gently waking up with some yoga poses, this is exactly what you want. The next one we tried was the 75 minute heated vinyasa class at the Truckee Location. The studio is great, well heated, and everything was clean. This class wasn't really what I would describe as vinyasa, though. It was more of a super fast moving bikram-type sequence, combined with sculpting. If you want to get a good workout, enjoy Bikram, and sweat a lot, this is for you. If you want to feel a flow and the gradual build from one pose to another, this is probably not your class.

I also love that they have a "sweat" class that is more HIIT vs worrying about technical skills as much. This class, and several of the morning classes, seem to be more female than male. Ann Marie has been my OG yoga teacher since I moved to Tahoe years ago. You can now take her classes in studio for online, and get this, the sound and video quality is fantastic. I've been on many zoom classes with major tech issues. You can clearly hear and see her without a lavaliere mic. Her classes have a very meditate state, but challenging for those for more advanced practitioners, modified poses for beginners. All level for almost all classes. There's several other classes including prenatal, meditation, muscle rolling, etc. Btw, if you haven't gotten a massage from Ann Marie, you are missing out. One of the best I have ever had. Go for the 90 minutes. If you can't reach her, she can recommend many other great therapists. There's also provides filtered water for clients/yogis. Definitely go here for yoga and massage therapy. I find those teachers have the best body awareness.
