I was told that I'm first on the list for a 2 bedroom apartment as soon as one becomes available. The amenities here are great. We have a nice library, pool & spa, salon, fitness center and lots of opportunities to enjoy the movies and numerous presentations that are offered. The food is terrific most of the time. We worked it out with the chef. Maintenance and clerical folks are extremely helpful and go over and above to accommodate our needs.

It's a reflection of their management approach and tireless commitment to quality service and care. The facility is clean and well-maintained with a boutique hotel vibe. Meriza, the Wellness Director, has been attentive to my parents care needs from day 1, keeping me apprised of any significant health changes. Aileen the Life Enrichment Director keeps the residents engaged in invaluable group activities to keep minds and bodies active. Chef Kristine and her staff do a wonderful job preparing 3 quality meals a day and catering regular special events for residents to enjoy. Tony in charge of Maintenance has been an upbeat Mr. Fixit also overseeing laundry and housekeeping services. Business Office Manager Davina ensures billing is accurate and my parents residency remains in good standing. And Carla, the Executive Director, ties everything together with an open ear, timely communications and a seemingly never ending work schedule. Yet it's the hardworking front line staff like Caregiver Lupe and Med Tech Mary that keep the Regency such a comforting environment for residents and their families. My parents acclimation to the Regency Palms had its challenges as is unavoidable when transitioning from independent living to assisted, but their physical, mental and emotional health has dramatically improved since relocating 8 months ago. Caregiving is not a trade for the weak of heart. But to deliver such good service in a time when good workers have never been more difficult to find is a testament to the quality people who choose to work at the Regency Palms and those who lead them.

Staff are reportedly encouraged to falsify documents or give dishonest answers when interviewed by the Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) during complaint investigations. The organization also recently lost its contract with the local PACE program amid concerns about resident safety. Memory Care residents have reportedly fallen because of inadequate supervision, with serious consequences. In one case, a resident allegedly remained on the floor for hours and later died. Incontinence care has also been a major concern. My loved one developed UTIs on at least three occasions. Activities for Memory Care residents are minimal at best. Information about violations and lawsuits is publicly available through the CCLD Care Facility Search website and by searching for "Global Regency Senior Care Service lawsuits." If you're considering a Memory Care facility for your loved one, based on my experience, this is not one I would recommend.

My girlfriend's 95 year old mother moved into this facility last week, and has generally had…read morepositive comments to report. This despite an ongoing plumbing problem that has plagued the facility for the past several days. The room was nicely cleaned prior to move in, with a new refrigerator and microwave put into operation, and tested. The move itself went smoothly and the tv/wifi service seems to be working satisfactorily. Food quality and service is reported as adequate, but nothing more. Finding a reasonably priced retirement home isn't easy in 2025. As an example, Freedom Village requires a cash outlay of over one hundred thousand dollars and monthly fees exceeding three thousand dollars for a tiny studio apartment. Meridian requires no huge upfront cost. In the case of my friend's mother, an 850:square foot one bedroom apartment with a view is under $4500:per month. Transportation to nearby shops is available, a hair salon is on the premises, and exercise classes are available. So far, no complaints.

There are many things that are important in personal care, but for me, the number one thing is dignity. The staff at Southbay has given my mother, and it seems everybody, nothing but dignity and respect at all times. We lived in our own house in West Torrance since 1971. During the last two years we decided to tour…read moreassisted living facilities in our area and further south. We also were concerned that just taking tours with a sales person was misleading. We were aware that people were leaving one failed facility and going to another with the hope of better treatment. We felt uncertain about leaving our beautiful home and moving into this unknown world. We have been at Cogir of South Bay for just over a month. We are going no further. We are here to stay! We are both overjoyed with our decision. Each day brings us a dining room with our new friends. We all have learned to expect a tasty and attractive looking meal will be presented to us. In our past we only dined so well on special occasions at our favorite expensive restaurants. At dinner time I get my wine. Instead of sleeping in late and watching lots of TV, we attend the 9:30 AM exercise classes in the gym or outside alongside the pool. In addition, we now do our weekly exercises at 1:30 PM inside the heated pool when the sun is strongest. Today the pool water temperature was over 90oF and the air was 73oF. The pool exercises included music and aquatic hardware to enhance our experience. I love my daily swim. Thursdays, before dinner, there is always going to be a singer who performs alongside the bar and also comes up to each of us seated at our table. It already started. We enjoyed our drink from the bar, snacks from the side table, and a bouquet of flowers on our table. A resident took the microphone from the performer and did a few songs that he mastered during his singing lessons. Two couples got up and danced. One of the assistants working for Cogir took the microphone and sang Edith Piaf's famous song and sang it French. My hands were sore with all the applause. There is an exercise room loaded with weights and other typical hardware that I use, a game room where we learned how to play adult dominoes, and an arts and crafts room where my wife just painted a silk scarf under the supervision of a guest artist. And all that was in the past few days. We enjoy the trees, shrubbery and plants that surround every area. They were each planted at their full size. It is a pretty scene when we look down at the grounds from our balcony, day or night. When there is a breeze, it is even more enjoyable. We have a pantry, refrigerator, freezer, stove and microwave that we have not yet used. Why shop, cook and clean-up when your meals are prepared for you? I store my socks and underthings in the empty food pantry. We no longer have monthly TV, electricity, gas, and garbage pickup expenses. Since this place is brand new and all expenses are included, we don't worry about scheduled maintenance and surprise repair bills typical of our 50-year old home. Since I was an engineer I focused on the material parts of Cogir. What make this place run smoothly are the executive director and her staff. The Matre D' in the dining room makes each meal personal. The facility director then asked us to leave as we were "not invited" by the resident whose cell phone and address book had been taken away. Feels a lot like prison. Can't be good for our friend's mental or physical well being. Police were then blocked from doing a mental health check.

Danee did a fantastic job showing me the property- I noticed how clean and organized everything was (elegant, warm and bright). She is very easy to talk to, informative and answered all my questions. It feels really good to visit a place where the staff has been there for so long and truly care for their residents (in some cases more than 20 and 30 years!). Overall, I really enjoyed visiting the property, talking to the staff and one of the residents (Vivian). They gave me cookies on my way out and they were delicious! I think this would be a wonderful place for my dad!
