Our child has been in Ivy Hill for a couple years now and we couldn't be happier. My husband and I have been extremely pleased. The smile on our baby's face at drop off and pick up is all we need to know. The teachers are all sweet and turnover has been low over the years, a very good sign for parents. Ms. Barbara maintains a clean and safe environment for the children and the teacher/child ratio is low which is a real bonus for the preschool age group. I don't know what school the previous reviewers are talking about as this is not the Ivy Hill me and my girlfriends all know and love!!! First of all its the cleanest school I have ever seen, the floors are spotless and Ms. Barbara will be the first to tell you she is a bit OCD about cleanliness!! I love how the classes are small and the children get plenty of personal attention this is not one of those sterile, cold babysitting places you see around. The rooms are nicely decorated with the childrens artwork and its a warm, homey environment...check it out yourself and there is a new Middletown location as well!!! Go Ivy Hill!!! As a working mother, I couldn't ask for my child to be better taken care of while I was at work. The curriculum as well as the social skills that she learned were more than I could have ever asked. It's a safe, happy and loving atmosphere that I would recommend to any parent. I'm so grateful that I received the trusted help that fit perfectly into my working lifestyle as a single mother.... Ivy Hill is a great school in a great neighborhood with loving and caring teachers and owner. The place is immaculate and fosters a warm and loving environment while a strong curriculum is taught. All three of my children attended Ivy Hill and they still love going back to visit and remember all the fun they had. My son has been at Ivy Hill since he was 8 months old. I have nothing but great things to say about this school! The teachers and Barbara treat your children as their own, which makes me as the parent feel confident in the decision I have made to send my child there. When I take my son for his routine check-ups at the pediatrician he excels in all tests they give him. Just recently, his pediatrician told me my son is "not your average 2 1/2 year old. He is very smart, and mature for his age." He was actually given an intellectual level of a 3 year 11month old child. His doctor is not the first person that has told me how well-mannered and smart my son is. I give much thanks to Barbara and her staff at Ivy Hill for this compliment not only received from my son's pediatrician, but from others as well. If you are looking to send your child somewhere just to play and not actually to expand their minds then this is not the school for you. Overheard the owner/director of the school saying to a mother about how much she dislikes gay people. Then she continued to joke "let's put pink shoes on your kid (a boy) and see how he turns out." Yeah, because that's how it works. This is just one of the many, many examples that describes why you should look elsewhere. The director is clearly unprofessional, ignorant and not exactly the nurturing, loving person you want your child to spend the day with. She also talks about everyone behind their back and discloses EXTREMELY personal information that you wouldn't want anyone to know. Disgusted. read more
